I have to admit I was a bit pessimistic about this show until I saw the first episode. I've read the book and loved it; and, like with all the books I love, was a bit apprehensive about its adaptation (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, anyone?). I needn't have worried. It's quirky, funny and a little absurd - just like the book.
The soundtrack by Bonobo is the cherry on the cake. Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes!
To natan-333: don't be such a party pooper. Kudos on working in the industry and everything (in the UK? This is BC, Canada), but the show portrays a work environment that is *fictional* and something with which a larger part of its audience can identify. I, for one, have been shunned for microwaving popcorn in the office. Showing overweight people working through the night while guzzling Coke and talking about Dungeons and Dragons might not have been as entertaining as it sounds. Besides, as it happens, the grow-op looks very authentic, so at least they got something right.

I will never believe that the same guy who did "Propane, Propane" (the best episode of ANY TV show, EVER, IMHO) was happy with this movie. I will NEVER believe that Clattenburg looked at this movie and saw it was good. I put the blame squarely on Ivan Reitman. It sounds like he was trying to adopt this movie for viewing by general audiences and in the process ruined it for both the hard-core fans (like myself) and the newcomers. There was a soul to it. Reitman, it seems, completely missed it. But the boys SHOULD NOT HAVE COMPROMISED! They should not have let someone who doesn't get it have control of the movie. Frankly, I can't see how any hard-core fan could love this movie. I know you all feel as disappointed as me. It could be so much better! It could be so much better!! I guess it's not all that bad, but, DAMN! it could be SO MUCH BETTER!!! They should've kept the mocumentary look: the long takes, the monologues that were either so well-rehearsed or so well improvised that they looked and sounded REAL. I will buy it when it comes out on DVD, but every time I see it, I'll think about how much better it could be. Maybe there's a director's cut that is more like the series. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
