Acting was too bland. Too much melodrama for an action movie. I do understand that it's a patriotic movie but they didn't need to underline it every two minutes with a patriotic dialogue. The commentary in the background made it sound like a documentary and that too not a very good one. I generally feel that Indian filmmakers add too much drama when making a patriotic movie. I personally am more of a fan of movies like Baby or Lakshya where the emphasis is more on the action part of patriotism rather than the speaking part. CGI was good at places though. I also liked the part where they showed real people pictures on whom the movie is based.

I am honestly not sure, what all the hate for this movie is all about. Its a good movie. Not perfect, but good movie. I didnt come out of the theatre kicking myself for wasting a couple of hours of my day. I am extremely satisfied with the movie. But then, I am not a movie expert. Just a MCU fan.

While the movie does take you to an emotional ride while keeping some humor alive, it doesnt quite make you cry or laugh out whole heartedly at any juncture. Varun at times seem to be acting too childish while trying to portray a very likable and pure hearted character. Brought back the memories of 90s when good acting was all about underplaying the part. However, despite of all that, I think what keeps the movie alive all the while is Shoojit Sircar's direction. The characters are well defined. The emotions are never forced on you. The pace of the movie is just right. A special mention to the actor who plays Varun's boss. He has done a great job in the small part that he has to play. If you have loved movies like Swades and Guzarish, you'll most likely love this one too.
