The Beacon

Throughout principal photography at Point Sur Light Station, the lighthouse was on. As an element to the story, it is supposed to be a broken, abandoned beacon. The filmmakers had to go out of their way during both principal/post production to not show the light working. Until, for a little bit of time, the power went out. The filmmakers quickly went to get establishing shots and such before the power came back on. It was when they departed from the set on the final day, and they told the volunteers from the park that it was a sort of blessing the power went out. When the volunteer asked why, the filmmakers stated that it was because throughout the script the lighthouse is broken. To which the volunteer replied, "You could've just asked. We would've turned it off for you."
