Steph Tolev: Filth Queen

Filth Queen by Steph Tolev is beyond. I haven't giggled, snorted, howled this hard on my couch in years. The filth? It filth-ed. The confidence? Unshakable. The degradation? Artful. Her physicality alone had me doubled over. It's like watching a masterclass in chaos - unhinged and brilliantly crafted.

This is not a special for those who can't handle women being raw, sexual, disgusting, and fully in charge of the mic. If your idea of a female comic is someone cute and self-deprecating, Steph Tolev is your reckoning. And if you still think women should only be objects of desire instead of hilarious, filthy degenerates in their own right - this one's going to hurt your fragile little feelings. Suck an egg.

I stumbled across this special and left an absolute Filth Queen disciple. Netflix, thank you - and please give us more unfiltered brilliance like this. It's my favorite special in years. Steph Tolev is a filthy goddess, and we don't deserve her.

She does it again. Few people can make me literally chortle the way Steph Tolev does. Might be too vulgar for some - but they should grow the hell up and get off the internet. She's honestly in a league of her own. So glad Bill Burr spotted her obvious talent and downright insane energy and got her out there for the world to see. I mean, I think the first time I saw her perform on one of Burr's specials - she was doing some sort of bit with the gravelly man voice and gremlin waddle - I literally spewed my drink. She might be my spirit animal. Shine on you crazy diamond! And come perform in Asheville, NC!

This was so hard to watch all the way through. She maybe had 2 jokes that were SEMI funny but nothing more intelligent than my 10 year old nephew could think up. This middle aged woman stands on stage for an hour and talking about how she has a hairy body, hemorrhoids and loose cavities. I imagine her gimmick is just making fun of herself but it felt more self degrading than comical. I'm not familiar with her so I'm not sure if this is a character of hers or genuinely herself but the way she presents herself is absolutely disgusting. I LOVE raunchy comedy that pushes the line but this wasn't that. Long story short, I hope your not reading this AFTER you've already wasted your time.

Than the actual experience.

In other words, reading about her and her show is more fun than sitting through her unsubtle idea of comedy like a runaway train that starts out at the peak and runs downhill to the level ground in about 10 mins then sputters the rest of the way.

That said, there is a demographic for that sort of tripe out there. So I wish her all the best.
