The film manages to sympathetically blend both heartbreak and hope, showing the real human side of unimaginable tragedy. It doesn't shy away from the pain of loss, and the imperfect ways we can treat those trying to help us, but it never lets despair define the story. There are many moments of humour and levity throughout, helping them to push on. Both men on this journey had unique reasons for undertaking their challenge, showing that there are many different struggles that people go through, but ultimately it focuses on the courage it takes to keep walking forward, and to have hope for the future.
The Two of Us, featured Tim Edwards and John May, with a underlining focus on grief, depression, and the fragile threads that bind us to one another in the wake of unimaginable loss. This film does not shout its message-it murmurs it, inviting the viewer into a raw, emotional space rarely explored with such care.
The story follows two men-each scarred by their own personal challenges whose lives intersect, its real, with that real human connection. Their chemistry is understated but palpable, deep emotion in shared silences as much as spoken words and laughter.
What makes the film profoundly moving is its honesty. It does not romanticize depression or wrap loss in sentimentality. Instead, it presents it, as real, deep and shows mental illness as something lived in-complex, frustrating, and often invisible. And yet, within this heaviness, there are glimmers of hope-found not in grand gestures, but in a look, a gesture, and moments of unexpected connection. Tears and laughter throughout with a powerful message of Hope and to keep going one step at a time.

A beautifully executed and crafted piece of work by a very talented group of only a few people. The documentary takes you on a journey of mental struggles and shear heartache. It has its highs and lows, with some hilarious moments. But more than anything it's a journey of love, hope and compassion. Friendship is king in this wonderful film. John May and Tim Edwards' coming together is like two pressure cookers that do eventually 'blow'... but calm down to a level of angelic calm. A beautiful debut by director Owen Ward with a haunting score by composer Patrick Bennett. A must watch for any age.
