Its a great casual romance anime but its more comedy than romance unlike most shows. Its almost like a sitcom if a sitcom was more like a actual movie.

This anime reminded me of fruits basket, especially with the characters and their personalities.

My only problem was i wanted more of a actual story. Its kind of just like a roleplay where all your favorite characters aren't really doing anything theyre just vibing.

When I first heard of this title, I thought, "Oh great, another romantic series I have to fake being obsessed over." Now, I am not one to hate every one of these series, but let me tell you, my mind was BLOWN! This series is a gag on shoujo manga, and even other anime titles as well!

Nozaki Umetarou, who goes by another alias called "Sakiko Yumeno", is a renowned manga artist. Sakura Chiyo, the cutest main character I've seen in a while, has a crush on him. Upon confessing her feelings, which Nozaki himself believes to be a fan of his, gives him her autograph. From then on, Chiyo actually discovers that he is a renowned manga artist, and agrees to be his assistant.

The manga they work on, "Let's Fall in Love" also takes inspirations from their fellow classmates, who also assist and encounter them for their work.

Lastly, I started reading the manga right after the TV series concluded, and I must say, I was not at all disappointed. I read from beginning to its present chapter, and I have had not felt good since I read something.

10/10, for the off-the-wall humour, lovable characters, colourful animation, and overall, a story that hasn't made me laugh in forever.

This was sooo good! It was a perfect mixute of comedy and romance and it reallly made you root for the main carachters. Everyone in here has such unique personalities, they're all very well developed and often do unespected things. The only bad side is that there's only one season. I wish there would be more!

An anime on Netflix about a high school girl having a crush on another student that wrote shoujo manga.

I enjoyed how cute and hilarious this anime was. Each character had their own funny personality, and their interactions provided constant comedies. Many scenes had me laugh out loud because these characters misread situations and were oblivious.

The style of the anime was unique because characters were similar to typical characters in shoujo manga or anime. The comedy also came from characters reacting to situations based on what they read in a shoujo manga while the shoujo manga author character wrote his story based on the characters he interacted with. It's a funny way of looking at how people can look at life based on manga.

As for problems, the anime wandered a lot. Characters interacted frequently, but it seemed like the story didn't progress much. Because of this, the end felt rushed, even though it was cute.

Overall, a short, fun, and entertaining anime. 7.5/10.

This is how it goes in high school, don't expect the relationship to be extremely hot. It is adorable and true. Love at this age is often called a friendship between a bot and a girl and this is what it is. This is a teenage romance before the first kiss. If you know that in the manga Nozaki tells his little sister that he had an eye on Sakura from the very beginning, but she was the first to address him, the little events in the anime would seem more meaningful as they are for the teenagers in the show. Besides, such tandem, a huge athletic phlegmatic and his short superactive girlfriend (whom he sometimes carries from place to place) is a couple no one can resist in their sympathies. The way they are monopolizing each other is such a sweet recognizable childish approach. The same goes for the other couples. The emotions and images are very well-balances and the sound background is great.

Overall I really enjoyed it I thought every joke was funny but that ending was pretty garbage

Firstly I'd like to say the comedy did make me laugh and play it back just to breathe through my nose audibly. Tons of characters you get to know and grow to love. There is definitely romance, but I felt unsatisfied when it ended. It doesn't say the series is over so maybe this is why....? Maybe I'm super naive and I did not see the ending because thinking back they kind of make it clear. And it is very different from other shoujo romances I have seen so maybe others will enjoy it.

I watched this show dubbed and honestly, this is one of the only anime's I've ever seen where I was actually laughing out loud at most of the jokes. Comedy aside, the story is great and the characters are funny and relatable. This show would definitely benefit from a second season because some plotlines deserve to be explored further but the way it is right now, it's great.

Chiyo Sakura crushes on fellow classmate, Umetarou Nozaki. When she finally musters the courage to approach him to suggest they spend time together, it's all /too easy/. He invites her to his place. Tonight. She accepts. When she gets there, she PANICS😲 ('what /am/ I doing at a guy's place? Why did I come HERE without thinking?! ❕'). It's just him there. Parents are rarely seen in anime, leaving the impression that most kids live alone. Soon Sakura realizes: He's noticed her - her ART - that is, and he merely wants help putting out his monthly girl's romance manga. Nozaki. Writes. Romance. Manga... M😍E ❕ He's even better than Sakura imagined! Ironically, all her interactions with him went over his head. She'll have to work on that.

MGNK consists of 18 23-minute English dubbed episodes of which 12 (S1) are currently available for streaming. S2's 6 episodes aren't available right now. This is a great HS romance anime with some fun characters the viewer will enjoy getting to know.

This isn't the first anime I've seen where the ML looks like an adult and the Kawaii FL looks like she's about 9 years old. They are the same age, even though they don't look it. Japan seems to collectively be obsessed with cuteness. Cute is very comfortable, to be fair. In terms of personality, she's more mature than he. That's the schtick: He looks like a basketball player, but what he does is write romance manga, even though he's clueless about romance IRL.

They are assisted by background artist Mikoshiba Mikoto. He's a ginger, and he acts like one, too. Red is fun. He seems assured and cool. It's a cold /front/. If he has to interact with a girl, his milky white skin turns into strawberry Nesquick real-quick. All of a sudden, sweet, innocent Chiyo Sakura is hanging out with two hunks. Waddup with that?

There's a dynamic between two students in the drama club that is unique, and they probably took it too far. It's down right odd. The female plays the male parts and the girls at school just love her. They call her The Prince. She tends to drive the head of the drama club crazy and he uses corporal punishment on her. Corporal punishment actually does happen in Japan, but it's a very weird thing to see while sitting here in the United States. He beats her up. It's not simple, though. He and she actually have a little bit of gender role reversal going on, and they are clearly into eachother while being in a state of replete denial. His attacks are him protesting too much. She, in turn, is looking for attention from him and has resorted to unhealthy means. She's driving him bonkers. The writing for this secondary romance is pretty cute, but culturally it is foreign. Hey, it's a cartoon. By nature, it's supposed to be xtra, and while anime can be as profound as Shakespeare, it almost always maintains its non serious side. In cartoons, anvils will drop on heads and cause dramatic lumps, but nobody ever seems to really get hurt. However, this motif could be triggering, for some. For me, it's enjoyable but also a big head-scratcher.

There are plenty of amusing moments. In the last episode of S1, Nozaki is still oblivious, but they finally end up on an (accidental) date. They end up watching the 🌌🎆✨ 🎇🌌 together. It's sweet. Sakura still has miles to go before she can relax in love, but the final scene is a preview of what is 💖 to come.

The series can be fun and entertaining if you do not expect much of a plot. The series fallows Chiyo as she tries to confess to her crush and fails because he never gets it. The series is an utter waste of time as because apart from this there is no real story. The rest is just slice of life filler and mediocre comedy.

The art is ok although the music is rather repetitive and the intro is not especially good. Fun if you want quick entertainment uninteresting otherwise.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun just makes you want to press the 'Next Episode' button time after time as it just nails it in pretty much every area throughout its 12 episode run. At first, it might take people a little while to adapt to its down-to-earth nature in overall tone and atmosphere (like myself), however, once acclimated, you'll probably not regret your decision. Everything is done to such a comfortable extent, it's as if you're truly being submersed into a Shoujo-normalized world.

Beginning first with the story, which is just so beautifully authentic, with no massive plot building going on, neither on the surface nor in the background, but is rather just a beautifully 'simplistic' Shoujo Anime of a love-sick girl and her relations with the boy of her dreams, which is both honest and comforting. With the development of the entire show being so relaxingly well-paced (never rushing the storyline, never falling short of what it aims to deliver, and consistently delivering something so refreshingly unexpected at just the right time), it just seems to get people into thinking "Maybe just one more", snagging you into pressing that 'Next Episode' button "just one more time" and, if it doesn't, then it should.

Then there are the all-too-real and loveable characters (my gosh, the characters), which distinctly drive this show and make it such a memorable experience. Yes, there are many gag moments found throughout the show where you might hope something big is going to happen only to be hit with something so stupidly hilarious (sometimes irritating), then only to realize that it might just be making you love them even more. With the overall chemistry and interactions between characters being so intoxicating, you cannot help but love watching how things will pan out as they try to deal with the situations ahead.

With all its relatable and conventionally honest direction and storytelling (which simultaneously tug at the heartstrings while making you want to laugh at the top of my lungs), its loveable and relatable characters, the addictive yet simple score, and just overall aesthetic and production, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun is something truly unique and memorable that you honestly wish there were much more of. Though it encapsulates the general Shoujo anime genre clichés, every element is uniquely down-to-earth and special, which might as well give it the right to be a stand-alone example of what a romance/ Shoujo anime could/ ought to be.

Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun is an amazing work of art. Main characters are lovable and the chemistry is fun to watch. I laughed a lot of times in this anime and watched a number of times and can watch many more times.

(7/10) A fairly standard romance anime about a girl who is in love with an romantic manga author who is oblivious to emotions unless he is writing about them. This series is cute and funny at times, while it was fairly run of the mill I did enjoy the number of romantic story lines occuring between almost all feature characters.

Lots of laughs. Love the characters. Lots of fun. If you like Anime Rom-Coms then you'll love this.

This anime is a refreshing and positive rom-com anime with a realistic background and atmosphere yet cliché.

The story is about Chiyo who has a crush on Nozaki, the story follows up through Chiyo with Nozaki as the protagonist with exploring characters that come with their own traits and talents. The characters run through the lives of manga-ka Nozaki and are shown primarily through Chiyo. The gags are derived from the ongoing bizarre relationship between the characters and the atmosphere at the schools.

The directing and animation were spot on. Despite having a brilliant premise and background, the characters are funny but one-dimensional, the opening and ending music was not good, the gags are sometimes not connected with the audience and felt repetitive nevertheless it's not your other shoujo anime it connects with both the audience. Hoping there's an S2.

All the required ingredients were there. The main character was loveable. Although she was swooning over the manga artist, she was also self aware. Which transitioned perfectly into another more profound type of awareness: that of the defects of romance manga. The show tried and even succeeded at times to make fun of the shallowness of this genre. But ultimately succumbed to what I consider being the capital sin when aiming to include or even cater to female viewers: misogyny. The oblivious tomboy is considered an "ogre" for her carefree way of acting. But the guy who inflicts actual physical violence on a girl gets praised by the same girl who suffers the abuse. Ironically enough the funniest scene in the show for me, the one with the bull mask, involves the very same two people. Furthermore it seems like the whole romance manga angle of the show is distorted. For all the funny situations that the artist gets himself into so he can make his manga appealing to girls, only male oriented themes such as the harem or how the heroine is secondary to the hero are present in his work. And if subtle sexism wasn't enough, it's even spelled out for us: "bratty teenage girl" is used as a derogatory remark by a guy in the business actually marketing FOR teenage girls. Which is sad since when the show is not trying to push outdated concepts like compliant femininity and machismo there is some great humour and romance.

I like the art style, but every character is infuriating. From no personality to the most obnoxious of them, there's not really any character that is likable. I can't tell why this anime has any good reviews at all when the characters are 1 dimensional and annoying. The more I watch it the more angry I get.
