I saw the rating and thought, 'FInally...an accurate imdb rating'. And then i saw some of the few reviews...so that's why i'm laughing...the low ratings are more about the reviewers, of course, than the movie...it was way beyond a movie...or a performance movie...or a movie about a composer...i think it did a VERY good job of exploring the creative process...and there were great guests discussing it along with Hans...in the past i wondered whether Hans was, as one reviewer stated, 'pretentious'...but after seeing him in a number of situations(including live) i think what we see in the movie is really him... because he hasn't deviated from what we see here, in my experiences...and, of course, even though one of the directors titles Hans 'the greatest living composer', John Williams IS still alive...and i think they're on equal footing, in terms of composing abilities AND output...Hans is definitely, imo, top notch...and for what it's worth, even though it doesn't make me 'right', i've been listening to music for... almost 70 years...and playing(a number of instruments, sometimes professionally) for...almost 60. I understand composition...and i'm not just talking about pop...classical...jazz and other genres...including non western formats... in any case, it was quite the experience, this movie...be forewarned, though...it's almost 3 hours long...but well paced, in terms of interspersing performance and conversations...
Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamonds in the Desert" is a combination of a concert report from Dubai in 2024, with short interviews with people who have influenced the work of this outstanding film music composer. Among the guests are Christopher Nolan, Dennis Villeneuve, and Jerry Bruckheimer, figures without whom Zimmer could not fully express his talent. The documentary lasts 2.5 hours, which is a very "epic" length, though it seems it could have been a bit shorter. Considering that the interviews add little to the overall theme (those who follow Zimmer's work will not be surprised), are brief, and visually look like phone recordings in a café, I would have preferred the director to focus 100% on the concert, which is interspersed with a few outdoor recordings for the title's needs. Here, the production shines, offering great editing, dynamics, and sound. I really enjoyed the performances of themes from Man of Steel, The Lion King, Gladiator, and The Dark Knight, which had a huge amount of "power." In summary, if you know Hans' music and the films it appeared in, I can't help but recommend it. It's a very nice thing, though not perfect.
This "movie" is perfect for any Hans Zimmer fan! I love a lot of his work and this did not leave me disappointed. The entire concert was fantastic! It truly was a breathtaking experience. The music was, as always, beautiful and exquisite. The interviews were great and very interesting. To listen to such masterpieces in a theatre was such a unique experience. If you are unsure about if you want to go... just do it. Go! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can bet that you will enjoy it. Some of my favorite pieces didn't make the cut, but that didn't take away from how incredible the film was. Every moment is thoughtfully presented, and each performance is delivered at the highest level. If you are a fan of Hans Zimmer's work, do not miss this chance to experience greatness. Go see this film now-your future self will thank you.
Having been to two of Hans Zimmer's shows in Amsterdam. This movie was like a return to two of the most amazing nights of my live. It's not a documentary but actually more like a Hans Zimmer show that's digital. So don't go and watch this movie expecting that. This movie is a celebration and a summary of the last three years of Hans Zimmer Live band touring. It's about the music and not about Hans himself. The 'interviews' are conversations between Hans and 'Friends' for little bits of trivia about Hans his look on music. I enjoyed this tremendously!
If you feel sad that you did not have tickets or want to relive the Hans Zimmer concert. Then watch this movie.

My 17 year old self went to see Thelma & Louise back in the early 90's, and my life changed on the spot. The score blew my mind and I've been a fan of HZ ever since. I've been to quite a lot of the live shows during the past 8+ years, and the experience is amazing. Watching *the* man himself having fun on stage, playing some of his massive scores with such talented musicians brings me pure joy every time.
I was so excited to find out this film was being released and it didn't disappoint. I couldn't make the Dubai show which they filmed, but I felt like I was there in the front row while watching it. So much energy! It's possibly the only time I didn't mind the cinema audience applauding during a movie! Hoping for a Blu-ray release so I can watch it anytime. Sound was amazing, loved the interviews and the footage captured in the desert and at Dubai Expo site was beautiful.

- CuriosidadesWhen talking with Timothee Chalamet, Hans Zimmer says they're the only two people to have collaborated with both Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve. However, the following actors have all been in movies from both directors: Hugh Jackman (The Prestige and Prisoners), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049, Dune Part 1, and Oppenheimer), Emily Blunt (Sicario and Oppenheimer), and Florence Pugh (Oppenheimer and Dune Part 2).
