    A great horror/comedy fusion

How often have you really seen comedy and horror work well together? Probably not too often but "Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies" does a great job at fusing these two categories. This lighthearted, zombie filled film brings together every aspect of horror films and comedies to make it enjoyable for everyone to watch.

When three teens are stranded on the Austrian Alps during a snowboarding trip, you don't think many bad things could happen. But add a science experiment gone wrong, and a mountain full of zombies to the equation and then you have real mayhem. Luckily, the humor throughout keeps the spirits high and hopeful for an escape from this hellish location.

The script has cleverly written jokes that kept me laughing and a self-aware cast that notably mentions they are in some type of "zombie movie" to the audience. I noticed an 80's vibe present that also helps to give off a quirky feel.

But not to worry for all the horror lovers. There is an intense fight scene between the zombies and snowboarders that still had me hiding my eyes (mostly because I'm squeamish). If you can think of any way to kill a zombie with a snowboard, it is done in this movie and probably more. Whether there is a head being cut off or in half, a body severed, or a zombie being shot to death you will have enough gore to last you a lifetime. Basically, the special effects did not disappoint and the makeup helps make some of the most realistic looking zombies.

This ZomCom is a great flick that I really enjoyed. It is perfect for a movie night and deserving of any comedy or zombie lovers time. This spoofy film does not disappoint and should be added to everyone's movie watch list.

    Pretty decent zombie comedy

I watched this movie with absolutely no expectations at all. Just because of the title alone. And the movie still kind of disappointed me. I didn't hate it, but it could have been a lot better. So let's talk about the good things first. The movie is actually pretty funny sometimes. Yes, there are some good jokes in the movie. There are also some really bad ones, but i have to say i laughed at some parts. Also i think the zombie make-up is actually really good. They don't just look like every zombie in every zombie movie, they actually look quite good and different. And i'd say that some of the acting is decent. Some of it is not so good, but some actors are actually doing a decent job. But the best thing about this movie for me was the gore. I love gory movies and this movie actually had some really good gore. I didn't look realistic, but that's not what i'm looking for in a movie like this. It was over the top and actually pretty awesome. Let's get into the negative stuff now. The worst thing about this movie for me was that the movie really dragged at the middle part. The movie is very very short and it still kind of bored me. And the second worst thing was the music. First of all the music was too loud sometimes. And second of all the music was terrible. It really didn't fit in at all. Also the climax of this movie just didn't feel climactic at all. It just kind of ended. I also found myself not liking most of the characters. We're supposed to care about the characters, but i really didn't. I didn't care when they died or when they were in danger. That's not supposed to happen in a horror movie. So in the end i think this movie actually had potential because i usually really horror movies that take place in a snowy landscape. Like dead snow and i even liked wrong turn 4 quite a bit to be honest. But the characters were pretty annoying and the movie really dragged even tho it is really really short. The ending just didn't feel climactic at all and the music was really annoying to me. There was some really good gore and some nice zombie make-up, but that's about it. 5/10

    Unique Undead Thriller

Two words that you've probably never heard together: Zombie deer – a concept as wacky as is it entertaining, which coincidentally is how I would describe Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies. This film continues the tradition of movies such as Shaun of the Dead and Cabin Fever, which show the humorous escapades of a group struggling to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Set in the Austrian Alps, three teenagers are left to fend for themselves after a falling out with their snowboarding sponsors over a prank gone wrong. Trapped on top of a ski resort during a failed science experiment, they must find a way down the mountain to safety before being consumed by the zombie horde. The films emphasis on the origin of the outbreak really stood out to me as most zombie thrillers ignore or breeze over this crucial event.

Where Lederhosen Zombies really shined was through its creative use of special effects and gore. Whether it was disembowelment by wood chipper or decapitation by snowboard, I was constantly on the edge of my seat, wide-eyed, and thirsty for the next unexpected kill.

In a nutshell, Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies it a flick that excels in the entertainment factor and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Filled to the brim with comedic one-liners and eye-brow raising violence, this movie branches out into its own genre: ZomCom. I really enjoyed the unique spin on one of my favorite genres as well as the colorful cast. This was a great addition to last Friday's fright night. Careful! It might just take a bite out of your funny bone.

    Zombies, Lederhosen, and Genre Revival

Horror/comedy fans can rest easy knowing that Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies director Dominik Hartl pulled off an incredible feat: delicately walking the line between horror and comedy. The humor in this film is truly humorous (slapstick is not the name of the game here, thankfully, but there is a little thrown in for good measure). Likewise, the horror is truly horrendous in the best possible way—dramatic character deaths, gory zombie dismemberment, and painful moral decisions see to that. As the film is foreign, it also possesses a unique trait that further distinguishes it from less inspired contemporary films: the humor is intellectually funny. It is evident that actual thought went into not only the jokes themselves, but also their timing and story integration. It is entirely possible to laugh out loud without even looking at the screen; listening to the words is often simply enough. Lederhosen Zombies earns the "comedy" in its horror/comedy genre label; if you like other cerebral horror comedies (like Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead or Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness) this film deserves a spot on your list.

Attack of Lederhosen Zombies expectation breakdown.

As a horror advocate I found this to be a refreshing new take with the hilariously-disgusting features such as witnessing a zombie being gouged with ski poles in the eyes. I was able to laugh while still cringing. It isn't so much of what is being done but how its done. Imagine it to be a parody of it's own original zombie comedy. The reason I think this movie falls under the horror category is because of all the guts and gory action. On a more lighthearted note, it is oozing with bloody-fantastic puns, something that sets the tone for this epic satire. See the irony here.

The plot follows three young quirky snowboarders abandoned on a mountain in the Australian Alps as they get caught in a science experiment gone horror-bly wrong which sets up a unique plot twist for the whole zombie apocalypse theme. I was highly amused by the montage of these snowboarders savagely-destroying mutant zombies. In addition, I must acknowledge the mutant wild life and how no one has thought of including that in a zombie film till now. This movie had me dying of laughter, figuratively speaking.

As someone majoring in film I found the cinematography to be very inspiring. When working on a low-budget film, it can be very difficult to create practical visuals that make you feel like you're apart of the movie. Everything from the lively sound effects to the lighting and camera angles played a major role in creating realistic and more believably scenes. Also as a sports fanatic I really enjoyed the wicked aerial shots of the snowboarding stunts. The director, Dominik Hartl, did a fabulous job of incorporating many different movie genres in order to capture the interests of a wide variety of movie fans. There's even romance between characters. Credit goes out to this film for already winning two awards. One award for Best Special Features and another given by the audience for Best Feature.

I'll admit that the movie really captures a specific crowd for those drawn in by dry humor and an appreciation for ridiculousness. The delivery of this movie is meant to be sarcastic and that's a big reason why I was entertained by it. The best way to explain the expectations for this movie, in my opinion, is a combination of "Shaun of The Dead", "Warm Bodies", and "A Million Ways to Die in the West." This one wins my vote and is worth the watch!
