Per Deadline, Academy Award-winning director Alex Gibney, who has previously explored a variety of public controversies, will attempt to unravel the story. The filmmaker began working on the project days after the story broke. Gibney will also produce the documentary through his Jigsaw Productions company, with Anonymous Content also producing. Ruby Franke, the YouTube mom vlogger who had millions of followers but was sentenced to years in prison for child abuse, is to be the subject of another docuseries.

Investigation Discovery is launching Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence, a four-part series that explores the relationship between Franke and “rogue therapist” Jodi Hildebrandt.

Last February, Franke was sentenced to at least four years in prison, but which could be as much as 60 years, for child abuse. She appeared in court alongside her former business partner Jodi Hildebrandt, who received a similar sentence, after the Utah prosecutor said that two of Franke’s children – aged nine and 11 at the time – lived in a “concentration camp-like setting”. The women were arrested in August 2023 after Franke’s malnourished 12-year-old son climbed out of a window at Hildebrandt’s house in Ivins, Utah, and ran to a neighbor’s house in search of food and water.

Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke drew 7.9M global views in its first five days of streaming, which makes it the biggest docuseries on Hulu to date, per Disney. This includes Hulu viewership in the U.S. and Disney+ viewership internationally.

Since the series debuted on February 27, it has maintained a spot in the Top 15 Today list on Hulu.

As January wraps up, Hulu is keeping the momentum going with an impressive lineup of new titles next month. Whether you’re into movies, TV shows, or both, there’s plenty to keep you entertained throughout February.

Hulu is starting strong with over 60 new titles arriving on February 1 alone. Some standout additions include Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, as well as all four seasons of the classic ’90s drama New York Undercover.

Reality TV fans will also have something to look forward to with the season six premiere of The Kardashians.

But as exciting as the new arrivals are, there’s always the bittersweet reality that some beloved titles are leaving. In February, Hulu will only be removing movies, so TV lovers can breathe easy. However, the list of departing films includes some good titles, like Titane (2021) and Spencer (2021), which earned Kristen Stewart an Oscar nomination.

The Hulu February 2025 premiere schedule has been announced and can be viewed below. The streaming service has also revealed the titles that will leave next month.

The Hulu Originals for the month include Benefits with Friends (aka Amor da Minha Vida), Chris Distefano: It’s Just Unfortunate, Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, and The Fox Hollow Murders: Playground of a Serial Killer.
