Anyone expecting simply a repeat of the Stromberg episodes from the 2000s will inevitably be disappointed. Fortunately, screenwriter Ralf Husmann was too intelligent for this kind of recycling. The film contains a multitude of references, meta-levels, and reflections on the Stromberg character in relation to the present day. In the process, the tragedy that has been inherent in the character since the beginning of the series is revealed much more clearly. The screenplay, direction, and the magnificent Christoph Maria Herbst manage to strike a remarkable balance between comedy and tragedy. Stromberg's clash with the new reality shaped by social media is therefore almost inevitable. Remarkably, however, this is not the last word, but-as in the real present-the backlashy Stromberg forces prevail in the end. An intelligent and worthwhile film, if you don't want simple slapstick, but are willing to engage in a reflective examination of the Stromberg character and his inner tragicomedy.
