I haven't felt so alive in a long time. Watching this show made me feel all sorts of emotions. I've cried, I've smiled, I've cared. Very very powerful storyline. Very well executed by very talented actors. Felt like they actually lived through, not acted.
Thank you for bringing to attention the silence, the looking away crime..
Bravo. 10 out of 10.

This series is dark. I mean, really dark. Not just visually, but deep down, psychologically and emotionally.
It instantly yanked me in. I was completely obsessed with the main character's life. Once the show revealed their childhood trauma, everything about their present clicked into place. Suddenly, all their struggles made awful, perfect sense.
The acting performances are raw and devastating, grounding every painful moment in reality. The way the narrative is built is brilliant. The pacing is spot-on, and getting to see the scenes from multiple perspectives just hammers the whole truth home.
The genius here is that it's not just about physical abuse; it's about the psychological warfare. The pain doesn't stop when the hitting stops-it's always after. And this series understands that completely. Trauma leaves a wound that never truly closes.
I genuinely just want to hug every woman who has survived abuse. The show exposes how tragically normal this problem has become, and how incredibly hard it is to intervene. It leaves you asking: How do we step in without making things worse for the person already suffering? This is a necessary, powerful, and impeccably directed piece of a story.

This series it's about domestic violence and psychologic abuse .
With a great story and some really amazing plots... Some people will say that its predictable but don't belive them.
Take some time to watch It, Trust me. You'll be entertained and amazed and sometimes you'll be horrified with the human capacity.

Being a survivor of donestic abuse, this was a hard watch for me in many episodes but it is so true to life...the reality behind closed doors in far too many households. Lee-Yoo mi is superb in her role as is Jeon So-nee and Jang Seung-jo is SO good as the abusive & controlling husband. I binge watched it as I was hooked from the start of it. I highly recommend this series & bravo to the producers, director & actors for such a brutally honest portrayal of a subject that is still too taboo globally!
"As You Stood By", although basically a crime-thriller, delves into the harrowing realities of abuse, exploring it's generational impact, societal stigma, and the tendency for communities, particularly within the Asian culture, to turn a blind eye to such issues. The themes of emotional restraint, shame, secrets, and suppression are intricately woven throughout the narrative in this slow-burn that weaves an emotional thread and explores the fragile bonds between friends and family. The series opens with a compelling storyline, gripping viewers from the start, but as it progresses it begins to feel a bit convoluted, and some plot holes emerge. Despite these inconsistencies, it remains entertaining, leaving viewers eager to see how each episode unfolds and how the characters will dig themselves out of the risky situations they get themselves further and further into as things spiral. The acting is commendable for a dubbed film, bringing depth to the characters, although some antagonists occasionally veers into over-the-top territory. Overall, I found this limited series to be an engaging binge-watch that tackles important themes while keeping viewers intrigued about the crime/murder storyline.
