The plot was predictable and repetitive, humour was good I will admit. Directors just put Jack black in any movie to disguise the bad plot that hides behind him. Could definitely have been done way better, but this movie just feels like a waste of money and time. Acting was also mediocre, wasted chance.
Anaconda is a reboot of the 1997 film of the same name. This reboot is directed, co-written, and produced by Tom Gormican, director of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
Ronald Griffin Jr. (Paul Rudd) is an actor who has never managed to break through in the film industry and only lands small supporting roles. His former friend Doug McCallister (Jack Black) once tried to make it as a director, but now only directs wedding videos. As teenagers, the two used to make films together for fun.
Ronald believes they can make a reboot of their old fan film Anaconda together. With a small group of friends, they travel to the Amazon, convinced they can shoot this reboot on a limited budget using a few stunts. However, when they are confronted with a real anaconda during filming, their fan film suddenly turns into a genuine survival movie.
With this reboot, the creators attempt to turn the 1997 horror monster film into a comedy. This shift in genre may take some getting used to, even given the relatively poor quality of the original Anaconda and its many sequels. The later Anaconda films were already low-quality enough to be unintentionally humorous.
This reboot largely comes across as a straight comedy, pushing the horror and monster elements into the background. This may be jarring for fans of the original films and also attracts a different kind of audience. The problem with the comedy, however, is that the filmmakers do not seem to know what kind of humor they want to use. Parody, meta-humor, and spoof elements are mixed together, making the film feel messy and difficult to follow rather than genuinely funny.
In addition to the chaotic comedy, the story itself is also incoherent. Some characters seem to exist solely to move the plot forward and then disappear, only to suddenly reappear later. The film attempts to explore a theme of missed opportunities, but this is overshadowed by the jumble of comedic styles.
The visual effects in this reboot rely entirely on CGI, causing the anaconda to never feel truly believable. Moreover, the snake does not appear until late in the film, at times making it feel like an entirely different movie rather than an Anaconda reboot. In the original film, at least animatronic effects were used, which made the anaconda feel more convincing on screen.
Due to the film's messy structure, the cast members are also unable to stand out, making it difficult for viewers to genuinely care about the characters.

I have an affinity for movies set in exotic locations. I have no interest in going anywhere near the Amazon Rainforest at any stage in my life, so I enjoy it vicariously through film. I wasn't really sure what to expect from 'Anaconda', and even though it was a little messy and needed to correct the ship a few times, it found its way to being a pretty entertaining 99 minutes.
The cast make this movie almost impossible to hate. Four of the most likable people working today, all playing great characters that suit them perfectly. It really is the spine that holds the movie together, even when it's threatening to fall off the rails.
The plot is so-so. I get that you need a reason for these normal people to venture out to the Amazon, and it works in that sense, but it doesn't lead to as much fun as you'd hope. I also could've done without the side-story involving the criminals. It dragged the film down a bit and didn't add much.
The actual horror involving the snake was interesting. If the director was asked on a scale of 1-10 how aggressive he wanted it to be, he definitely said 15. Also the jump scares are extremely loud and vigorous. Be ready for that.
There's a great scene in this movie involving a spider bite and what happens after. It's the kind of thing that comedy movies used to be riddled with and it was so good to venture back to what felt like the good old days. A very funny scene indeed.
I had a pretty good time with this movie. It works as a horror and it works as a comedy. It finds a good balance between the two. 7/10.

Me and my dad went to watch this movie with low expectations. And we were surprised by the fact that the reality didnt meet the expectations. In fact it couldn't meet them.
We both fell asleep several times during the movie. And after the first 10 min we already wanted to leave the theater. (It wasn't only us, we LITTERALY saw people leave their seats) Now bout the movie in itself:terrible.
Really really terrible. We don't recommend to anyone. The jokes don't hit, the acting is Disney Channel quality (NOT EVEN) and my dad says that this the reason why Hollywood doesn't hold a right of existence anymore.
For me personally, one of the worst movies if ever watched in my entire lifetime.
So if you're thinking about watching this movie, save yourself money and time because it is absolutely not worth it. Quote from my dad: Horrendus.

Anaconda (2025) Follows a group of people who adored the original Anaconda (1997) and wanted to recreate something like it, but then while filming in a real island full of snakes, everything goes wrong. Wow, just reading this made me lose my braincells. The movie was pretty funny and had some stupid jokes that still made me laugh, Jack Black and Paul Rudd do a pretty good job and the movie was enjoyable for me. The movie while funny, its not really the the best movie if looking at the plot. The movie felt like it had no plot, it would go from this to that and again to this then going back. Everything else is okay I guess, but if you wanna turn your brain off and watch a pretty enjoyable and entertaining film, Anaconda does that pretty well. (Also if you love this franchise theres cameos)
