Original

So to be honest I've just jumped in at season to watch the first two episodes and all I can say is wow. It's 100% original so they're meant to be horror episodes but it's like Cardiff comedy with a slight twist of hora yet thoroughly enjoyable. I will now go back watch season one and if it's anything like the start of season tour I should be really happy I hope you all enjoy and I've got a come up with five lines I'm just going to keep rambling on. Have a great day

Entertaining!

I watched some of their old stuff back in the day and didn't care for it. It was too weird for my taste. But Bedtime Stories is very enjoyable. It's still weird but less in your face. I found most of the episodes quirky and entertaining. Yes, still somewhat dark humor but humorous.

Watch it at least twice

It's Tim and Eric. It needs multiple viewings, not to understand but to embrace the ludicrous and surreal nature of it all. Make sure you have plenty of cannabis on hand, preferably strong sativa edibles too lol..

You can like shows like this and curb your enthusiasm, stuff on BBC, ect. It's ok I think?

Exactly what they are best at

In a sentence: T&E Bedtime Stories is more subtle and less tame, exactly what they have been dying to do. Though it is only "subtle" when compared to Awesome Show Great Job. The humor is what I consider to be so far beyond bathroom humor that it has wrapped around itself and come right back to the beginning (eg. A man says something and another farts, however the punchline is not the fart ((which is too stupid to be funny)) No, the punchline is that they were making a stupid fart joke in the first place.) In this way I hope you can come to understand (and ultimately love) the geniuses that are, Tim and Eric.

Brilliant.

I don't even know how to even describe how surreal, strange, twisted and hilarious this series is. These are my favorite short films ever made. I think my personal favorite is the short where a young man gets his testicles transplanted. It's amazing... and absolutely HILARIOUS. Tim & Eric are the best at this kind of stuff. I love how dark these shorts are. They actually can be quite frightening in a weird nightmarish kind of way... (TOES). "Great job!" Tim & Eric! I want more!

Fun horror

It's not really a horror series, far as I can tell, but in the ten minutes of the first episode, it runs through a lot of the horror movie staples. It has all the bits and pieces, all the tropes of a horror story, but the context is just slightly off, so it all ends up falling into comedy. It's really clever.

There was an episode of Gintama (an anime) that had a radio program that did this same thing. It professed that it was going to be a bedtime story that would send you off to sleep guaranteed, but the execution was so off that it became a horror story.

It's really clever, when you think about it, requiring really exact joke construction. Gotta respect that. It could benefit from a longer time run or some rated R humor, but I think it's on Adult Swim so they might be pushing it as far as it will go already. I'm not sure at all what they allow.

Tim and Eric aren't geniuses, but damn they can be very funny. Great show. 8/10. Also, this came out before Inside no 9.

Tim and Eric give me indigestion

Hi, I'm very smart and rate this series 10 stars mostly just to try and make up for the couple dimwits who gave this lovely work a low rating. I genuinely think Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories is probably the best work this duo has produced. Don't get me wrong, Awesome Show Great Job is a timeless piece of art with lots of laughs and brought to life so many unique characters and great, unironically iconic bits. Casey Tatum, the singing boy, the Cinco family, etc., but I just feel that Tim and Eric really hit this specific target with such grace when it came to the slippery seriousness of Bedtime Stories. When T+E took a step back from Awesome Show's usual approach of chasing every laugh and setting a consistently bizarre scene, they really found a tasteful stride that surprisingly effectively surpassed the surrealism of Awesome Show.

I think the differing natures of Awesome Show and Bedtime Stories could be effectively compared to the fluctuations of the Uncanny Valley. Awesome Show intentionally leans more towards what could be considered the artificial life or anti-realism side of the valley. This side of the curve has a steeper slope that falls into T+E's signature surrealist humor. Given a steeper slope, there is less horizontal space to move in order to dive into that surreal state, same as it is to hop out and resurface to the "cartoonish" side of the valley. This steep dive, however, gives the show little area to dance along the lines of cartoony and uncanny, so you'll typically end up with either a very cartoony sketch or a very surreal sketch.

Bedtime Stories, on the other hand, leans on the opposite side of the curve. On this side, the top of the valley is where you'll find realism and the more natural seeming dramatics featured in this show. With an ever so slightly wider cliff side to play on, Bedtime Stories is capable of slinking at whatever desired speed down into a comedic yet increasingly disturbing scene of surreal styled horror. There are moments where Bedtime Stories delves so far into its surrealist state that it comes out the other side of the valley, returning to the cartoony and lightheartedness that is familiar to Awesome Show. Awesome Show similarly had moments where they would take the surrealism so far that the humor verged into horror.

What Bedtime Stories does is fill the audience with dread just to trip them with twist of amusement and finally shove them to the ground with even more dread, only to proceed to bash them over the head with more stupid laughs, and so on and so forth.

You take a normal world, with normal characters with normal emotions and normal reactions in a normal setting, and you unleash the disturbed minds of Heidecker and Wareheimer onto this world who make it something truly awful yet amusing to a point that it is just so incredibly enthralling.

Never has a comedy made me want to cry. Good job!

You really can't find any content on cable TV that can manage to be funnier than this type of material.

This is like ... the extent or the maximum capacity for content to become, in regards to comedy or humor. This show is like .. 'too' funny.

& I find it quite fascinating when ever I consider the show's method they utilize in order to achieve such a dangerously hilarious cable television program, & how, without the portion of those who are there to tryin' point out how UN-funny this show is... or stupid... or to give it such negative feedback & poorly rated reviews ... the mere presence of those users & critics alike who give the 2 big thumbs down... It's THOSE very people who are the show's "fuel source" that the comedy runs off of & gets it up to top speeds & without them, the show actually would be totally just akward & not funny & super weird but because you know there's a group who will HATE this show...Their hate is what makes this show the greatest it can be.

The same method is used for a film like "Freddy Got Fingered"

In a world where 100% of everyone just LOVES that movie... would technically leave it as .. not funny what so ever... It's watching this while knowing the whole time, that there's a group of haters watching this that makes it TOO funny/

What

To be fair I couldn't stand more than like 15 minutes of the first redundant stupidity. How many times can someone go up the stairs over and over and over! Pointless and not funny!

More unfunny from the masters

At least they're consistent. I don't know what's supposed to be funny, or even entertaining, about any of this. I watched four episodes, and nothing happened. It's like someone wanted to poke fun at various tropes, wrote a bunch of episodes, then passed them through Google Translate like six times. Oh, a couple of roommates use random Spanish in their dialogue. Hey, baristas and mixologists are weird, huh? Whoa, three guys secretly live in a bathroom. Oops, a bunch of people crapped themselves. Oh. Wow. And somehow they keep getting handed money to make their profoundly unfunny stupidity. Just stop. Please.

Were they good before this?

I love surreal humour. Ive seen theyve been compared to better. Did they do something really good before this, then get a bigger budget and famous cameos ? Pretty ship honestly. Loved by 14 year olds who grew up on them? Do a punchline then write a 10 minute drama around it? Meh. One of ems a cnt too apparently.
