A high school senior in San Antonio juggles his family life, his academic life, his two male friends, his female best friend and the girl he loves.

"Colossal Youth" (2018) is an Indie drama/romance focusing on the high school years in the mold of "Love Everlasting" (2016), albeit with the less-grim spirit of "The Breakfast Club." Being semi-autobiographical of the writer/director's experiences, it smacks of real-life and effectively depicts the good, the bad and the ugly of the high school years.

Fans of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Footloose" and "Clueless" should appreciate it, as long as they can roll with its $250,000 budget. While it's understandably not great like those three, I'd watch it any day over the overrated "The Breakfast Club."

The protagonist, Troy Osterberg, comes across as a taller Tom Cruise when he was young. Meanwhile Reece Everett Ryan is amusing as his best (male) friend of questionable character. Blonde Alexa Dowd stands out on the female front as Siobhan while brunette Kimmy Caruso ain't no slouch as Erica.

The movie runs 1 hour, 38 minutes, and was shot in San Antonio.

GRADE: B-

Feel-good, ups, downs, challenges, resolution - this film has it all... according to formula. You've seen it before many times but I suppose you can watch it again.

The Acting was wooden, strange things were happening, like everybody leaving the breakfast table without eating, and people were behaving very strangely.

Can't understand the 10* ratings, but definitely not a good movie.

Colossal Youth was great. It definitely took me back to the good old days of high school. The movie showed the ups and downs of high school life and the different battles and challenges that are faced. I took my 15 year old daughter to see it and she really enjoyed it as well.

Just saw the premier in Houston last night and must say that Scott and the cast did an amazing job in creating a feel good movie reminiscent of the Breakfast Club with tons of great music. Well done and highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this film. It made me laugh, (almost) cry, feel joy, and sadness. I recommend this to anyone who is thinking of watching it. Yes, watch it, you won't regret it.

I loved this film SO MUCH. The cast is fantastic, and the film itself has a wonderful story line.

Absolutely love this movie! It makes me cry every time!

This movie sure hit the spot when it comes to teens having to figure life out. The troubles with school, friends, love, parents and learning to deal with loss of a loved one. So many teens can relate to this. All the actors portrayed their roles so well. As a parent it's hard to realize no matter how hard it is to try to teach or prepare your child they will still have their own ideas and paths to follow. It can be very scary to parents at times and I was glad to see this in the movie.

Colossal Youth is an enjoyable and genuine movie. The film captures perfectly the highs and lows of high school, but also the process of personal growth and how life changes. The movie will be a reminder of your "best times."

I recently just watched Colossal Youth actually during the pandemic we all just unfortunately went through and are still going through today.. this movie brings back memories as when I was once in high school trying to find who I was as a person and where I "fit" in .. it's a heartfelt , so raw with true emotions that each of us can relate too on so many levels . All ages can watch so it's a perfect family movie . Amazing actors and actresses .. it's actually considered one of my favorite movies now . Enjoy with popcorn :)

I had so much fun watching Colossal Youth!!!! I just graduated from high school, but when I watched the show, it was like I was still in high school. Thanks Scott and Cast for this great movie. You did a great job!!!

I have been waiting to see this film for many months/weeks and I finally did and I give this movie a 10/10 and 100% incredibly talented acting! I loved it so much it felt like I was back in high school. And the fact is that in almost every movie about high school students the main character realized that the person who loved him truly was right in front of him as what points out in the brief synopsis of this movie. I would highly recommend seeing this movie! Great job to everybody who had a share and acted!

Very entertaining with a fantastic sound track. Possibly another Classic en Rom-Com!! Really enjoyed young actors.

I gave Colossal Youth 10 stars because it was a wonderful movie and the actors and producers and writers did a great job on this movie .

I love colossal youth so much the cast is so talented also i love riker lynch so much i loved him since he was in a band with R5 and i still love him today.also to all that hasn't seen the movie yet go watch it it's honestly one of the best movies ever i have watched this movie so many times ;)

I gave this movie a 10/10 ! Love this movie ! I want to thank all the writers and directors and the filmmakers and actors and actresses for a wonderful job. A must see movie .I watch this move with my kids and they love it as well !

So if you want a good move to watch on family movie night Colossal Youth is a good choice for the whole family to watch . And I bought this movie to watch again for family night . So again a must see movie for the whole family or date night or just because . And it would make a good gift for any young adult or even any adult . With that being said Thank you again for a wonderful Movie.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." from 'A Tale of Two Cities' That's what high school is...and this film is award winning for good reason! Colossal Youth takes us on a journey which is poetic in its' first pitch...it draws the audience into nostalgia and you don't have to be an old soul to appreciate that. The premise is crushes and they aren't called crushes for nothing because they hurt like Hell! You think you're in love but you have no clue until you face/ taste that bold flavor of rejection and you realize that your best friends were in fact, your first loves, whether that be that annoying little sister, your overbearing father or the girl or boy you knew your whole 18 years so far in life and suddenly 10 years later when your brain is fully developed, you go I get it now! My rating 10 of 10!

I enjoyed seeing it, although it seemed a bit disjointed and slow at times. Keep an eye out for Kimmy Caruso... both gorgeous and talented as an actress. Will be interesting to see where she goes from here.
