I sought this series out because of its cast. We are in the U.S., but we mostly watch British shows, so a lot of the ensemble actors here were familiar to us.
My wife and I found this to be an entertaining enough show. No, it is not in the same league as some of the great comedies in recent years, like Gavin and Stacey, but those sitcoms are the exception, not the rule. These characters did seem predictable at times and even two-dimensional, but there is a chemistry between them that I hope the writer and actors can build upon when a second season gets underway.
A couple other reviews give this 1 or 2 stars and all I can say is - let me send you a few other show titles that I consider to be rated that low and see if you can survive even one episode. Someone compared Boomers unfavorably to Last Tango in Halifax, which is perhaps unfair as that great show is a comedy drama, and the drama is written and acted superbly. This show is not aiming at drama or at cutting edge humor. It seems like an old fashioned sort of sitcom, the laid back sort many of us don't have the patience for anymore.

I recently stumbled upon this gem on Netflix and I must say, even though I am in my 30s, I found it incredibly funny, silly, and clever. It reminded me a lot of my parents, who also have a great sense of humor. The writing and acting were top-notch, with the cast showcasing amazing chemistry on screen. I found myself drawn to all the characters and their quirks. Overall, it was a delightful discovery that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good laugh and a heartwarming story.
Not sure about the low ratings, perhaps a younger demographic or used to a different type of comedy.
Can't wait to binge the rest of the episodes.

Truth is, I find Boomers very funny. Again, it is not supposed to be dramatic or intense, just something that is for the laugh. You can sit back and enjoy it with your family. Most people judges Boomers from the start but I believe that it has quite many potentials. The show does, indeed, get funnier later on in the series. The show is entertaining, wonderful cast ( mostly Philip Jackson, who I can recognize from Poirot) and is very relate-able.
I find the characters sharing personality traits that I can see in my older relatives. I believe that the people who were quick to give this show a 1 star were expecting a more dramatic, silly kind of comedy show.

Let's start with a cast of seasoned, talented actors, who understand how to deliver subtle, arch, and breathtakingly clever comic dialogue, and then having talented writers who can produce it for them. Well, it just doesn't get better than this. Then add the subtle cinematography, which frames the action sympathetically. This is a gem of a television show. Nothing is obvious or seems to be overly wrought. And it has a very natural flow. Except that the dialogue has one funny thing after another in it. Concepts intricately overlap, and you never quite know where the show is headed. As a show dealing with lives starting to come to an end, I think it has no peer. That tepid, mindless, televisual chloroform that is ""Last Tango in Halifax" can't begin to hold a candle to this show. THIS is how it's done. Bravo!
Ah - this is prime fare for retired Waitrose farts - gentle, undemanding comedy that does not require too many brain cells to fire at the same time. The cast is good and their likeability is the key attraction of this series - it is comfortable, simplistic and pleasant waffle with the occasional musical accompaniment and a contrived amusing social situation.
There's a large amount of inconsequential nattering - it's like eavesdropping in a murder-free Midsomer. If you have the patience for it then it will probably afford you a few gentle chuckles but this is largely forgettable stodge.
I've given it a 6 because I failed to laugh at anything in it but I sort of enjoyed it all the same...

- CuriosidadesThe exterior shots are filmed in and around the Studd Hill Estate, which was originally a holiday bungalow estate on the coast located between Whitstable and Herne Bay. The developer also built Jaywick Sands near Clacton.
