The story begins five years after the emotional farewell of Joy and Ethan in Hello, Love, Goodbye. Joy, now living in Canada, has shed her old identity and goes by the name Marie. She is pursuing her dream of becoming a licensed nurse in North America and is close to taking her licensure exam in the United States. Meanwhile, Ethan, who remained in Hong Kong for several years, arrives in Calgary, Canada with his friend Jhim to seek a fresh start. By fate or coincidence, Ethan and Joy meet again at the airport-an awkward reunion that reopens unresolved feelings and unspoken pain from their past.

After their initial meeting, they continue to cross paths, eventually leading them to re-establish contact. The film then flashes back to what happened after Joy left Hong Kong. Ethan had visited Joy in Canada and stayed with her during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. They tried to make their relationship work while in lockdown, but the stress of the pandemic, Ethan's homesickness, and Joy's career pressure strained their bond. Eventually, Ethan had to return to Hong Kong when his father passed away due to COVID-19. Tensions also rise when Joy's colleague Uno develops feelings for her. When Baby threatens to report Ethan to immigration authorities, he pretends to reciprocate Baby's affection to avoid getting deported. Joy misinterprets the situation and feels betrayed again, leading to another separation.

As Joy prepares to move to the United States to pursue her career, she faces an emotional crisis following the death of Martha, a patient she cared for deeply. Before leaving, she reads a letter from Martha encouraging her to find her true home and happiness. At the airport, Joy has a moment of clarity. She realizes that home is not a place but a feeling-and for her, it is still Ethan. She decides not to board the plane and instead returns to his apartment.

In the final moments of the film, Joy and Ethan reconcile sincerely. They kiss, forgive, and move forward-this time, with no more pretending.
