Finally, a queer show that gets it right! Smoggie Queens is a breath of fresh air in a world where so many shows either over sanitise queer lives or drown them in misery. This series strikes the perfect balance - raw and honest, but absolutely packed with laugh-out-loud moments that'll leave you in stitches.
The comedy feels so real because it's grounded in truth and it never feels forced. These characters aren't caricatures; they're people you've met, partied with, or maybe even ghosted. It's messy, it's chaotic, and it's so relatable.
What sets Smoggie Queens apart is that it celebrates the highs and lows of queer life without shying away from the harder stuff. But instead of turning it into a sobfest, it uses humor to shed light on the absurdity of it all. And somehow, through all the jokes, it manages to hit you right in the feels when you least expect it.
If you want a queer show that's both honest and absolutely hilarious, Smoggie Queens is it. It's comedy with heart, and honestly? We need more of it.

Absolutely hilarious, sharp, witty and at times poignant comedy series based in Middlesbrough. Smoggie Queens is well worth watching and as a proud gay Smoggie love that it's putting Middlesbrough and LGBTQ+ community on the map in a positive way. Totally recommend it and hoping there's going to be a 2nd series. And a WOW factor added to it is seeing Michelle Visage having a great part in Smoggie Queens (see if you can spot her). I thoroughly enjoyed watching the whole series on BBC iPlayer laughing, being supportive, loving it. It makes a fabulous change of seeing Middlesbrough being portrayed in a more positive way because that's the experience I have always been proud of myself coming from Middlesbrough, even though not perfect but is mainly a great inclusive town (should be a city by now). Smoggie Queens is fantastic.
If only there was more!!! This show had me and the missus laughing our heads off from start to finish. Heartfelt and witty and portrays Middlesbrough perfectly. Each character is loveable and hysterical in their own ways making you want to be in this tight group of best friends. The writing is superb with many one-liners that I will continue to use. The highs and lows of life are honest and relatable making you appreciate each character individually. I hope I hope I hope there will be another series. I may be a Geordie but us northerners will always unite to support each other. I highly highly recommend this show.
I can't get enough of this at all. I've not laughed out loud this much for ages. Really well written, heartfelt, and real. I love the characters, the token lesbian, the fag hag, the drag mother, the rancid queen and the twink - some may say cliché but every group has these on the scene. Very relatable as a gay man that's grown up.on the NE scene and experienced the odd night in the 'boro. Only wish Enpire had been a gay club back then! Please renew this for another ten series, I can't wait for the next installment. Kudos to Dunning for thr writing and all the cast for the acting, what a rare and precious find.
Ok, so I'm a Smoggie too!! Maybe I'm a bit biased... absolutely love this show!! It's as daft as a brush and unapologetically Boro. In a troubled world this show is like a breath of fresh air! Really silly jokes, larger than life innuendo and really likeable characters. Hope there's a season two!!It's really nice to see the characters of our area celebrated instead of all the negativity which often surrounds a place like Middlesbrough. My favourite episode was the spoof on the Titanic!! Long live Mam , Dickie and their daft friends. I hope they make a return shortly for more over the top adventures!!
