Also. Legitimately. There have been some ridiculous comebacks. One's you can't help but cheer for while going, "Oh noooo! What!!? What?!" Just good. Wonderful content.
As I've now read some of the negative reviews, allow me to add some extra bits: Pop Culture is a vast category. Pop Culture trivia games at bars regularly have teams, this is just an extension of that niche. It does not but mean there aren't still people who know plenty of historical facts. Further still, if one thinks Colin is 'over-the-top', then I'd like to suggest watching game shows from either Japan or Mexico to receive better context for what 'over-the-top' actually entails.
1) The host is LAME, he has the charisma of a comatose patient.
2) The team format is stupid, feels like the show can't decide if it wants to be Jeopardy or Family Feud. And just like Family Feud, most of the contestants are unlikeable. So it's difficult to root for anyone.
3) Most of the trivia (and the overall feel of the show) is catered to a Gen Z audience. I could easily see this version of Jeopardy being added to the already horrendous programming on MTV or E!
To put it simply. After suffering through five episodes, I had enough. As a big fan of trivia, I'd rather play Trivial Pursuit by myself, than sit through another episode of this drek.
Put that in your Daily Double.
I'm continually amazed that Colin Jost is famous, he's the least charismatic snl performer ever, and that's saying something. But I guess when you're super boring and plain, you are never in danger of rocking the boat of threatening power. But even so, he has zero personality or interesting quirks. Isn't he supposed to be funny or something? Why doesn't he crack any jokes on this show?
The questions don't really get much harder than the most basic buzzfeed quiz, and the moments in between the actual trivia parts are cringeworthy and annoying.
Colin Jost is the best host and one of the main reasons I love this show. It's so much more fun than any regular Jeopardy out there and the team aspect is entertaining and unique every episode. If you want to answer the smartest jeopardy questions then maybe this won't be your favorite show, but I love pop culture and feel like I can relate to this show the most! The humor is a little dry and always funny, so give it a try. Or just watch the normal jeopardy and keep the negativity to yourself.
In general, I like the format of three teams of three players. I was intrigued by the triple play clue and like to see more of them per game. It's fun hearing the story behind each team's name and how they know each other. I would love to see a celebrity version of this show either with their relatives or former co-stars.
I probably would have given this show 8 stars if it had a better host.
