Writer Martha Williamson said in an interview that she based Oliver's story of two fathers on her own finding out as an adult that the man she grew up calling 'Dad' wasn't her biological father.
For the first time ever Hallmark allowed one of their movies to premiere in Australia ahead of the US release. Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back aired on Good TV Australia on April 5, 2025 several weeks ahead of the release on Hallmark on April 26, 2025.
For quite a few years the time line of the story in the movies didn't match the actual time that passed. For example "To Paris With Love" and "Truth Be Told" only have one day between them in the story line but aired months apart. And in the last movie Oliver stated it was only 10 weeks between when he told Shane he loved her and when they got married but in the real world it was 3 years between those two movies and then another 3 years before their honeymoon which they left for in the previous movie. Most fans agree that in the story line it seems to be about 3 years between when Oliver and Shane first met and their honeymoon although in the real world it was 11 years. This movie upends all of that by stating several times that Oliver's biological father died (and Oliver and Joe reconciled) 10 years ago which is how long ago that movie aired. There is no explanation of what happened during all those missing years and fans just have to accept that the story time line and the real world time line are forever mixed up.
There was an unprecedented lack of official promotion for this movie. Hallmark never had any commercials, no official movie poster, no press release, they did not air any of the previous movies in the week before the new movie and none of the cast did any interviews or appearances to promote the new movie. It is assumed the decision not to promote was because of the legal trouble for star Eric Mabius in February 2025. However despite the lack of promotion the live+ day 1 viewership was 1.1 million.
