    Great game despite it's reputation.

I believe every gamer has heard of or even played RuneScape sometime in their life. I started playing in 2007, many consider it late, but if I'm not mistaken that was the year that RuneScape had the most subscribed members, bots or not doesn't matter it was popular as hell.

I got introduced to RuneScape by a friend in High School, I have of course heard of it before but never decided to give it a try until my friend convinced me to. Thus began my RuneScape addiction. This game was really, really addictive, I was playing for hours without end just to get higher levels than my friends I couldn't stop. Then inevitably like every game the craze died, everyone suddenly stopped playing RuneScape at my school and my friends moved to other games. But I couldn't. I kept playing and playing, on and off sometimes but still being really active. I am still playing this game and I can safely say it's better than back then.

Now then, RuneScape has a reputation of being a "childish" or perhaps "bad" game. But I am here to hopefully convince you that it's not and also explain my 8/10 rating.

First of all, the RuneScape you knew before 2012 has changed... A lot. Some say it's for the worst, some say it's for the best myself included. The combat has been completely revamped as well as the interface (you can now fully customize it) and depending on how far back you've played RuneScape, the graphics as well. The combat now feels much more alive, an action bar along with abilities have entered the game, making bossing much more interactive and fun as well as player killing (although many disagree).

The other guy here mentioned that there's no story and character development - with that I disagree. The past 2 or so years, RuneScape's lore has been becoming much more relevant. The story telling in the quests is magnificent, the lore is also very very well written and there's actually quite a few likable characters. Sadly many players choose to skip the dialogue and ignore the plot, which in my opinion shouldn't be done as RuneScape has some of the best story telling and lore I have ever experienced in any game so far, recently quests have their own voice-overs. To accompany the beautiful quests, the graphics have been updated to look really great. There's an HTML5 beta currently which makes the game look very pretty.

I feel like I should dedicate a whole paragraph to the music. Just go on youtube and search for either "Memories of Guthix" or "Nightmare at the Cradle", to fully appreciate the music one should do the quests tied to them.

Unfortunately, to get anywhere in this game you need to grind... A LOT. Training your skills can be quite repetitive, yes but in the end it's worth the hours spend on grinding as you can access better content and of course more quests.

The game does have it's flaws though. There are few Microtransactions in the game, most of them cosmetic and the others not too game breaking although they do give a small advantage to someone that buys them. The game does have it's bugs although they are either minor or quickly repaired. The game's combat is constantly changing and although that's not such a bad thing, it can affect you a lot at higher levels. The community is decent if you look in the right places so that's not a big deal and also the Jagex employee's interact a lot on websites such as Reddit or the official forums.

For the people that prefer the old combat system fear not, you have 2 choices. Either wait out for Legacy mode (old combat system along with the new one, easily being able to toggle between them) or you can play 2007scape to relive the old days.

IF you get addicted you will easily sink more than 500 hours worth of gameplay in it, or hell even more if you stick with it as it's updated every week. English isn't my first language and I can't put my train of thought together properly when writing long reviews but I hope you understood me and have decided whether you should play this game or not.

Have fun and see you in game!

Fantastic MMO for the Casual or Serious Gamer.

After a long day at work, or in the garden, I love to sit down and just relax with my friends on RuneScape. The game can get very addicting, as with any MMO, but people spend a lot time getting their skills to 99 and it can eat away at your time. A lot of people would say the "point" of the game would be to get all your skills to 99 (120 for dungeoneering), but there's tons to do: quest, boss, merch, explore, mini-games, PvP, and lots of other awesome things.

One of the most interesting aspects of RuneScape is that it is a browser-based game. So you can play it almost anywhere. However, with laptops and mobile gaming on the rise, this doesn't have as much appeal as it would have ten years ago. This aspect is often quoted as being the best part of RuneScape, but--like I said--with mobile gaming on the rise it's not as amazing as it was.

RuneScape has no classes, you can swap freely from ranger to mage to warrior. You could even try some hybrid of these, if you want. I really enjoy that I can focus on one character and not have to make another character I wanted to try out a mage, I can just equip some mage gear and be on my way.

RuneScape is frequently updated with new content and interesting things to do, now with the new polling system, a lot of player-wanted content. I enjoy that RuneScape has weekly updates, a lot of other MMOs I have played only roll out updates once a month, but Jagex keeps everyone informed on what they're doing and what they're currently working on through a ton of social media websites; my favorite being Reddit.

The skills are what truly make the game interesting, each of them have their set purpose, based on what you want to do. Make money? Kill some stuff? Make cool things? The skills are varied and each has their own interesting and unique ways to train them. Most of the skills have fun mini-games if you get bored training in the traditional methods to just have some fun.

There's probably a lot of stuff I have missed, but there's no download so just go check it out! :]

    Cool

This game is really addicting and I love it. I love games that make you spend so much time to do just a couple things and this is one of them. It is so fun and it almost took my interest of movies away from me, which I don't really like but I can still watch a bunch of movies and play this at the same time luckily.

A really entertaining game that surpasses COD and BF with ease

Let me say this straight of the bat. I can understand that people don't really like this game because it has: -no story, -bad graphics, -no character development, etc. and I can agree on that. But that is not the point of this game. With these games, you'll have to look past what the game doesn't have, but look at what it does have, which is a list that can go on for quite a while.

This is one of the few games that you can play, with ease, for free, and with endless hours of game-play.

First off, With ease: You can make your own account any time you want, and with no strings attached. Just file in the user-name, password, and a handful of other standard things, and you are good to go. With games like BattleField, you need a special EA account, Keycode and who knows what more. With Runescape it's just, Register, Fill in the blanks, and go! Easy cheesy

For Free: You don't need to pay for Runescape if you don't want to. You can become a Member anytime you want, but even without it you have dozens of hours of game-play completely free. You can explore, fight, train and do almost anything you want. In comparison: COD games drop you in the game, and you need to follow the story, whether you like it or not. Runescape offers you full freedom in every way.

Endless Hours of Gameplay: Let's say you have a full membership account. Here are the things you can do: Train 26 different skills, That range from attack and defense, to magic and cooking, to summoning and farming. By the time you have a lvl 100 in all skills, you are three years ahead. In comparison: that is every COD and BF game that exist, played 20.000 times. You have almost 200 quests, from helping the Cook to get some flower, an egg and milk, to slaying a lvl 100 dragon. There is always a quest for everyone.

This only gives a short summary of Runescape. If I were to explain everything, I might as well give you a ten page essay. And you may think that I am some nerd who is getting nerdgasms over a game, don't worry, I just know what game is worth the money, and I can look past the bad graphics and flimsy storyline. I mean, we played the 2D Mario Game for days, with only the mission to rescue a princess.

Now please excuse me, I have to defeat this lvl 120 fire demon. This guy is tricky...

    Very addicting!

This game is very addicting, I started in 2005 and I still can't leave it, so don't start playing if you get addicted easily. People say if someone starts playing this game, a person never quits, he returns to this game again and again.

This is one of a few games which I have played for my whole life, so I gave it 10. Also, Runescape 3 Html has one of the best graphics I've ever seen... I can play BF4 on 20fps, but I get only 7 Fps on Rs3. You need an extremely good graphics card to play Html version of the game.

Also this game takes a lot of time to finish. I got all skills to max level in 8-9 years of playing.

In conclusion I would like to say that you should try this game, but don't get addicted. Usually that happens in like a month or two. Also try not buying a lot of gold, or cosmetic items, because if you do, then this game will take too much money..
