Isekai Shikkaku

This isekai series is centred on a depressed author known only as 'Sensei'. In the opening episode he plans to commit suicide with his girlfriend but before they can do so they are hit by a truck. He then finds himself in another world; he has been summoned there by an elf named Annette to act as a hero but has no interest and walks off hoping to kill himself again. Inevitably he doesn't succeed and ends up travelling with Annette and a cat-girl named Tama. Using his 'Storyteller' skill he confronts people causing trouble in this world but rarely has any motivation.

I thought this was a fun addition to the isekai genre. Sensei is very different to any isekai protagonist I can think of. It plays with genre tropes in a fun way; both subverting them and giving us a fun story to watch. The characters are likeable and well designed. The fact that the protagonist wants to kill himself could give the show a depressing feel but in reality it turns out to be darkly comic. Overall I'd certainly recommend this to isekai fans looking for something a bit different.

I don't think I've laughed so hard watching an anime. He snacks on pills to die. No longer allowed in another world is dark humor for sure but is worth watching. The protagonist navigates his way through a series of humorous and unexpected challenges in his quest to find a new purpose. Each episode is a rollercoaster of emotions, blending comedy with poignant moments that touch on themes of redemption and self-discovery. The quirky characters he meets along the way add to the charm, each bringing their own unique perspective and hilarity to the story. With its clever writing and heartwarming narrative, this anime is a delightful exploration of what it truly means to live fully, even in the most unusual circumstances.

As someone who has watched anime for a long time I have grown fond of some animes and I heard that this one was going to contain the name of an author that I quite enjoy which is Osamu Dazai. This anime portrays all of it in a fun and comedic way I'd say it's definitely not for kids and if you have teens that are easily swayed I'd say keep them away from it because it is a lot of dark suicidal humor and there is just a lot of very heavy topics discussed in the anime although they play it off in a very comedic and very animated manner it's a good show and I 100% suggest to watch it if you're interested but I just say disclaimer for younger audiences.

As a dedicated anime fan for over 5 years, I've watched nearly everything IMDb's top list has to offer, but this series is truly something special. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon it because it's unlike any other anime out there. Every episode strikes the perfect balance between humor and depth, delivering laughs while offering profound messages that stick with me.

What really sets it apart is the main character, who is unlike anyone I've seen in anime before. The way they use fine words and wisdom truly makes my day each time I watch. There's a level of thoughtfulness in the dialogue that resonates deeply, and it leaves me eagerly anticipating each new episode. The unique storytelling and character development are just top-notch. I really hope this anime continues for many seasons because I can't get enough of it.
