Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Worthington Talk David Mackenzie’s ‘Fuze,’ With Updates on ‘Avatar’ Sequels and Kevin Costner’s Stalled ‘Horizon’ Films
Image
A ticking bomb in the heart of London sets the stage for “Fuze,” a taut new British crime thriller from director David Mackenzie. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, combines the urgency of a heist film with the dread of an unexploded World War II bomb unearthed at a bustling construction site.

Written by Ben Hopkins, the feature stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Worthington. As the military and police scramble to evacuate the city against the clock, chaos unfolds across London’s streets.

For Mackenzie, whose credits include the best picture-nominated “Hell or High Water” and “Outlaw King,” the concept was born years ago.

“I wanted to mash up the tensions of the heist movie with an unexploded bomb movie,” Mackenzie tells Variety in the TIFF Studio. “In the U.K., there’s always a discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb somewhere.

When James Cameron Criticized Jason Momoa’s Aquaman Over Unreal Depiction Of The Ocean: “It Doesn’t Look Real”

Titanic director James Cameron has never shied away from expressing his deep love for the Ocean. So when asked about the 2018 hit about the King of The Ocean Aquaman, Cameron didn’t hesitate to give his brutally honest opinion.

James Cameron has always been deeply fascinated with ocean life. The Canadian filmmaker directed one of the most iconic films about a tragic shipwreck in the middle of the Atlantic first divided into Titanic in 1995. This was followed by another 32 trips to the bottom of the Ocean.

Following his explorations, dropping 4,000 meters to the bottom of the Atlantic, Cameron professed...

James Cameron says the current state of AI is making it difficult to come up with a worthwhile Terminator script
James Cameron
James Cameron tried to warn us about the dangers of artificial intelligence through his action-packed and borderline prophetic Terminator franchise, but did we heed his words? No, we did not. Every day, we see new and alarming headlines about the advancement of AI, making Judgment Day more likely as computer programs continue to learn and teach one another in a fast-moving world of information exchange. In addition to working on Avatar 4 and prepping his WWII war drama Ghosts of Hiroshima, Cameron is quietly working on a secret Terminator project. As exciting as this is, Cameron says he’s finding it difficult to plot a concept more concerning than real-world headlines concerning the trajectory of AI.

Speaking with CNN (via The Playlist) about Ghosts of Hiroshima, Cameron touched on his Terminator progress, admitting that the current state of AI is making it challenging to develop a plot more intense than reality.

“It’s the Wild West,” says James Cameron of the use of generative AI in film
Image
James Cameron has said generative AI is the “next big wave in cinema technology” and “a genie that has been released from the bottle”.

“We haven’t learned how to control it yet,” he added.

Speaking from New Zealand, where he is wrapping post-production on Avatar: Fire And Ash, Cameron spoke candidly about the potential possibilities and threats of generative AI.

“I can’t think of anything coming up that is bigger and more important to us right now than confronting this generative AI issue,” he said. “It is critical that we master it and control it so that it...

James Cameron says he’s justified only making Avatar movies because they “can do some good”
James Cameron
James Cameron has devoted decades to expanding the Avatar franchise, sidelining nearly every other project in the process. In fact, you’d have to go back almost 30 years to find the last non-Avatar film he directed. That’s an extraordinary amount of time to pour into a single series, but the director told Rolling Stone that he’s justified the choice by believing that the films have done some good, beyond just making a boatload of money.

“I’ve justified making ‘Avatar’ movies to myself for the last 20 years, not based on how much money we made, but on the basis that hopefully it can do some good,” Cameron said. “It can help connect us. It can help connect us to our lost aspect of ourself that connects with nature and respects nature and all those things.“

He continued, “Do I think that movies are the answer to our human problems?...

James Cameron: ‘I’ve Justified’ Only Making ‘Avatar’ Movies for the Last 20 Years on the Basis They ‘Can Do Some Good,’ Not Just Make Money
Image
James Cameron said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that he’s given his filmmaking career entirely to the “Avatar” franchise for decades in the hope of doing good for the world, not just making boatloads of money, which the films have been quite good at doing so far. The director’s original “Avatar” from 2009 is the highest-grossing movie of all time (unadjusted for inflation) with $2.9 billion. The 2022 sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” is the third highest-grossing movie ever with $2.3 billion.

“I’ve justified making ‘Avatar’ movies to myself for the last 20 years, not based on how much money we made, but on the basis that hopefully it can do some good,” Cameron told the publication. “It can help connect us. It can help connect us to our lost aspect of ourself that connects with nature and respects nature and all those things.”

James Cameron Offers Significant Update on Upcoming Avatar Sequels
Image
Avatar franchise director James Cameron continues to put his all into a film series he first conceptualized in the '90s. With Avatar: Fire and Ash fast approaching, Cameron insists he has no urge to slow down as he offers a significant update on the subsequent two sequels.

Speaking withEmpire, Cameron addressed whether he'd return to direct Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 amid speculation surrounding his future with the franchise, given his age (turning 71 in August) and the extensive work required to bring each film to life. However, the Oscar-winning filmmaker insists he'll be in the director's chair to see out his five-film Avatar arc. "I mean, there's no reason not to. I’m healthy, I'm good to go," he said.

Cameron reiterated his intent to keep going rather than passing over day-to-day directorial duties to someone else, having said the same thing last year. Though the Canadian filmmaker can't predict the future,...

'Avatar' Creator, 70, Shares an Update on Whether He Will Direct Future Movies
Image
As another installment of the global hit sci-fi film series Avatar bows into theaters this December, director James Cameron has reflected on his place in the future of the franchise. He still has two more movies in the Avatar universe to make, and given the significant time it takes to make each movie, there have been concerns that he might not be physically capable of seeing all the films to the end. Cameron turns 71 soon, but that won't slow him down — at least that's the plan. He plans to direct Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. "I mean, there's no reason not to. I’m healthy, I'm good to go," he told Empire when they asked if there was a possibility he could hand over the day-to-day duties of making the remaining films to another director.

Still, the future is unpredictable, and Cameron has thought about it. "I’m not going to rule it out,...

James Cameron intends to direct the fourth and fifth Avatar movies
James Cameron is "good to go" when it comes to directing Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.The 70-year-old filmmaker has helmed the third movie in the epic sci-fi franchise Avatar: Fire and Ash – which will be released in December – and plans to be behind the camera for the next two pictures, which are scheduled to hit cinemas in 2029 and 2031 respectively.Speaking to Empire magazine, James said: "I mean, there's no reason not to."I'm healthy, I'm good to go. I'm not going to rule it out. I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that... (but) if I can, I'll just do it."The Titanic director pointed out that he has passed on his planned movies to other filmmakers...

James Cameron Gives Update On Directing 'Avatar' 4 & 5 After Previously Saying He Might Pass Them On
Image
James Cameron is opening up about his future with the Avatar franchise!

The soon-to-be 71-year-old filmmaker started developing the first movie in the mid-1990s, but it didn’t go into production until April 2007, with the movie being released in late 2009.

Now, a second movie was released 13 years later, and the third, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is coming out in December 2025, with fourth and fifth movies in the works as well.

Previously, James said he might step away from directing Avatar 4 and 5 as they are “all-consuming” and he has other projects he’s interesting in doing. Now, he’s sharing an update on if he’ll direct the next movies.

Keep reading to find out more…

“I mean, there’s no reason not to [direct them]. I’m healthy, I’m good to go,” he told Empire in a new interview.

He added that there could be other factors that cause him unable to do that.

James Cameron Says ‘I’m Healthy’ Enough to Direct ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘Avatar 5’ as He Turns 71 Years Old: ‘I’m Good to Go’ and ‘There’s No Reason Not’ to Do It
Image
James Cameron said in a new interview with Empire magazine that he’s “good to go” when it comes to directing “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5.” The third “Avatar” movie, officially titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” opens in theaters later this year. Cameron originally cast doubt on his “Avatar” directing future, telling Empire in 2022 that helming the franchise is “all-consuming” and he might want to “pass the baton” to another director starting with “Avatar 4.” But that’s no longer the Oscar winner’s intention.

“I mean, there’s no reason not to,” Cameron said ahead of his 71st birthday in August about directing more “Avatar” sequels himself. “I’m healthy, I’m good to go. I’m not going to rule it out. I mean, I’ve got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years.

"The Whole Thing Is Off Its Tits": James Cameron Talks The Movie He Is Making After Avatar
Image
James Cameron is best known for making huge blockbuster hits. Though he started smaller-scale with movies like The Abyss, the filmmaker famously went on to have a massive $2.2 billion hit in 1997 with Titanic. Nowadays, three out of the top five highest-grossing movies ever were helmed by Cameron.

This includes 2009's Avatar, which remains the highest-grossing movie of all time with its $2.9 billion gross. Avatar: The Way of Water comes in at no. 3 with $2.3 billion, and Cameron hopes to pull off another record with Avatar: Fire and Ash, which comes out on Dec. 19 of this year.

The director has big plans for the series even after this point, with Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 also in the works. That said, the Avatar movies are not the only projects Cameron has coming down the pike. Rather, the director is also working on a fantasy novel adaptation, a decision which he described in...

James Cameron, 70, Updates Comments On Passing Avatar 4 & 5 To A New Director
Image
James Cameron has spoken out about directing Avatar 4and 5 at the age of 70. The Titanic filmmaker, born in 1954, is turning 71 in August and currently has five movies in the pipeline at different stages of development. The highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash is coming to movie theaters in December.

Meanwhile, Avatar 4 is scheduled for 2029, and Avatar 5 is expected in 2031. In addition to heavy franchise duties, Cameron is also confirmed to be adapting Joe Abercrombie's novel The Devils as well as Charles R. Pellegrino's The Last Train From Hiroshima and Ghosts of Hiroshima.

During an interview with Empire, James Cameron addressed whether he still intends to direct Avatar 4 and 5. He shared that "there's no reason not to," and he'd do it for as long as he could. Although the director doesn't rule out "factors out of [his] control," he assured readers that he believes he could handle "the...

The Devils | James Cameron adapting the hit fantasy novel because it’s “off its tits”
Image
James Cameron is adding an adaptation of Joe Abercrombie’s best-selling fantasy horror The Devils to his schedule, and suggests he might even direct.

Director James Cameron is still firmly in the Avatar business, with a second sequel, Fire And Ash, due in December and at least two further sequels scheduled for 2029 and 2031. There’s also talk of animated spin-offs, which he’ll most likely produce.

Cameron has other projects lined up away from the planet Pandora, however. There’s his potentially harrowing period piece, Ghosts Of Hiroshima, which he’s confirmed he’ll direct himself. Then there’s The Devils, an adaptation of Joe Abercrombie’s best-selling fantasy horror novel published this year.

Lightstorm (Cameron’s production company) acquired the rights to that novel last year, with the filmmaker having read and enjoyed Abercrombie’s full-blooded yarn while it was still a manuscript. Earlier this year, Cameron put out...

James Cameron on why he had to adapt Joe Abercrombie’s The Devils: “The whole thing is off its tits”
James Cameron
James Cameron has a lot on his plate, and beyond the ever-expanding Avatar saga, he’s also developing Ghosts of Hiroshima and recently acquired the rights to Joe Abercrombie’s fantasy novel The Devils. Cameron plans to co-write the screenplay with Abercrombie himself once he’s finished on Avatar: Fire and Ash, and he told Empire why this particular project was simply too good to pass up.

“It’s nuts. The whole thing is off its tits,” Cameron said. “I was literally reading parts of the book out loud to my wife Suzy. And it dawned on me: ‘I like this book so much, I should just buy it.’“

Related James Cameron has plans for an Avatar animated anthology series

The novel follows a notorious band of anti-heroes, which includes a monk, a cursed knight, a pirate, a werewolf, a vampire, a magician, and an elf, on a delightfully bloody and raucous journey.

Avatar 4 & 5 Will Continue This Important Franchise Tradition (And I’m So Relieved)
Image
Fans will be relieved to hear that Avatar 4 and 5 will continue one important franchise trend. Later this year, audiences will be welcomed back to Pandora, as Avatar: Fire and Ash comes to theaters after a two-year gap between films (which is much shorter than the more than a decade between Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water). However, director James Cameron is not stopping there, with plans for at least two more movies with release dates in 2029 and 2031.

After Avatar 3, Cameron has been eyeing his first non-Avatar feature since 1997's Titanic, leading some to believe the renowned filmmaker may be ready to hand off his ground-breaking sci-fi series to someone else for the next two movies. That does not look like it will be the case, at least according to Cameron.

In a recent conversation with Empire, the Avatar director revealed he hopes to direct both Avatar 4...

James Cameron Says He’s “Good to Go” for ‘Avatar’ 4 and 5 – No Plans to Step Aside
Image
James Cameron isn’t done with the Avatar world just yet. Even after spending nearly two decades building one of the biggest sci-fi franchises in movie history, he’s still fully committed to finishing what he started.

Some fans thought he might step back and let someone else direct Avatar 4 and 5, but Cameron says that’s not the plan.

Talking to Empire magazine in a feature on the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash, Cameron made it clear he still wants to direct the final two films himself. “I mean, there’s no reason not to,” he said. “I’m healthy, I’m good to go.”

Still, he’s realistic about how demanding these massive productions can be. Making Avatar movies is a huge job, and he knows anything could happen in the next few years. “I’m not going to rule it out,” he added. “I mean, I’ve...

James Cameron All In: Ready to Helm ‘Avatar’ 4 & 5 Himself!
Image
James Cameron isn’t ready to step away from Pandora just yet. Despite some recent speculation online, the legendary director has made it clear that he still wants to be the one behind the camera for Avatar 4 and 5.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Cameron confirmed that he’s not planning to hand off the directing duties to anyone else, at least not if he can help it. “I mean, there’s no reason not to,” he told Empire. “I’m healthy, I’m good to go.”

The Avatar series has been in the works for a long time. After the massive success of the first film in 2009, Cameron didn’t just plan one sequel, he imagined a five-movie saga. Something huge, on the level of The Lord of the Rings, but built from scratch.

It’s been a long and challenging process. He’s already completed The Way of Water,...

James Cameron Hints at Avatar TV Series to Further Expand the Epic Franchise
Image
Despite having Avatar: Fire and Ash and several other sequels in the works, director James Cameron is open to exploring Pandora beyond the big screen. The Oscar-winner recently hinted at a potential animated spinoff with unexpected stories.

Speaking with Empire, Cameron revealed plans for an Avatar animated anthology series, having approached Disney executives about the small-screen continuation. According to the filmmaker, the show would focus on stories that fall outside the narrative structure and character arcs seen in the movies. "I said [to Disney], 'Look, I want to do an animated anthology series that's essentially in the world, but stories that you wouldn't have expected from that world,'" he said. "There might even be an animated feature in there – it might be a feature for streaming, or a theatrical feature."

Cameron also said the series could explore "backstory on characters and tangential stuff that happened off-camera within the movies. Who first landed on Pandora?...

James Cameron Wants To Direct Avatar 4 And 5 Himself: ‘I’m Good To Go’
Image
For a long time now, James Cameron has been clear on the scale of his ambitions for the Avatar sequels. He didn’t just imagine a singular follow-up to his 2009 sci-fi original, but envisioned a five-film overall saga, an all-new epic tale on the scale of The Lord Of The Rings, but without existing material to draw from. It is a huge undertaking. And while he’s spent the last 16 years planning the overarching narrative and bringing The Way Of Water and Fire And Ash to life, it has led to some speculation online that he might be ready to hand off the fourth and fifth films to another director.

But as he tells Empire in our world-exclusive Avatar: Fire And Ash issue, he very much plans to still direct Avatar 4 and 5 himself. “I mean, there's no reason not to,” he says. “I’m healthy, I'm good to go.

Avatar | James Cameron is planning an animated spin-off
Image
James Cameron is hoping to bring the world of the Na’vi alive in animated form with a movie or a TV show. More on his plans below.

James Cameron is still hard at work on this year’s Avatar: Fire And Ash, but he’s already thinking ahead. The director recently told Empire Magazine that on top of hoping to do two more films after Fire And Ash, he’d also like to give animation a go in telling the stories of Pandora.

And he’s already spoken to Disney about it.

“I said, ‘Look, I want to do an animated anthology series that’s essentially in the world, but stories that you wouldn’t have expected from that world’,” Cameron told the magazine. Cameron cited The Animatrix as a particularly fitting example of what he’d like to do with the Na’vi. Love, Death & Robots and Secret Level...

Reasons Why Avatar: Fire And Ash’s Trailer Has Me Counting Down To December 19 ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Years ago, when the world of blue aliens created by James Cameron came to life in front of our eyes as Avatar, it left us stunned. The first film was released in 2009. Cut to 2022, Cameron came out with another film with the same blue aliens, but under the water for Avatar: The Way of Water. Now, the director has released the trailer of the new Avatar world, Fire and Ash. In this one, the blue aliens will meet another tribe of Na’vi (they wear red headdresses).

Touted as the biggest Hollywood release in India, this third instalment of the global phenomenon promises to transport audiences back to the breathtaking world of Pandora like never before. Here are the three things I am excited about in Avatar 3. Scroll ahead.

Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer drops online; James Cameron’s epic saga continues this December
James Cameron
Released in 2009, director James Cameron’s film Avatar became the first movie to officially gross more than $2 billion. Then it took him thirteen years to get a sequel into theatres, so it wasn’t clear if the follow-up was going to be able to replicate that success. But then, sure enough, Avatar: The Way of Water also grossed more than $2 billion, paving the way for not only Avatar 3, or Avatar: Fire and Ash, (which is scheduled to reach theatres on December 19, 2025) but also Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – which will be released on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031, respectively. With the release of the third film now just five months away, a trailer has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above!

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Trailer Drops — Meet the Ash People and Witness a New Na’Vi War
Image
The first trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash has finally arrived, and it gives fans a wild look at what’s next in James Cameron’s massive sci-fi world.

The trailer began playing in theaters before The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but now 20th Century Studios has released it online for everyone to see. This is the third film in the Avatar series and is set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025.

Right away, the trailer sets the tone. We hear Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, speaking to Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldaña. “You can’t live like this baby — in hate!” he says. The story continues from where Avatar: The Way of Water left off, and things are far from peaceful.

The Na’vi are still at war, but now there’s a new clan in the mix—the Ash People. Unlike the friendly Na’vi clans we’ve seen before,...

The Avatar: Fire And Ash Trailer Teases The Biggest Moment In The Series So Far
Image
James "never doubt" Cameron has made some of the biggest pieces of cinematic spectacle of all time and has the receipts to prove it if any executive doubts his skills (as the "Titanic" director did while making the first "Avatar"). Having three of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time under his belt, few things are as certain in Hollywood these days as Cameron knowing exactly what audiences want to pay to see in theaters — and watch it over and over again. After so many box office pundits were forced to eat their words as "Avatar: The Way of Water" became a box office juggernaut and a film everyone was talking about, anticipation for its follow-up, "Avatar: Fire and Ash," are sky high. It also helps that the movie is arriving three years after its predecessor (as opposed to the 13 years that passed between "Avatar" and "The Way of Water").

After Leaking Online, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash Officially Drops First Trailer

20th Century Studios has released the official trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash. The science fiction movie serves as the third installment in James Cameron's multi-billion-dollar franchise.

The official trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash was initially released exclusively in theaters over this past weekend, being shown ahead of screenings of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It's unclear if the trailer leaking online over the weekend prompted 20th Century Studios to officially release it online or if it was always the plan to drop it the Monday after The Fantastic Four's opening weekend. "With Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family," reads the logline for the hotly anticipated threequel. ‘Avatar: Fire & Ash’ Trailer Officially Released Online: James Cameron Returns With Fiery Stunner
Image
The action-packed first trailer for James Cameron’s next Avatar fantasy epic has been officially released online (below).

Disney has revealed the trailer for Avatar: Fire & Ash following the footage leaking after the teaser was put exclusively in theaters last week in front of Fantastic Four: First Steps.

One raved that the trailer was “some of the most beautiful footage I’ve seen all year [and I was] struck by the real sense of doom and rage — fist fights inside of cosmic volcanoes, heroes terrified, huge aerial battles.” While an entertainment writer wrote, “[The trailer] started out as ‘meh, more of the same’ and ended with ‘yup, another billion to James Cameron.'” And a film critic wrote: “The visuals are (somehow) on another level. There is no doubt in my mind that this Will be the biggest movie of 2025, and ‘epic’ doesn’t feel like it does this trailer justice.”

Image
Return to Pandora with the first trailer for director James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. The third chapter in the Terminator 2 and Titanic filmmaker’s multi-billion-dollar-grossing sci-fi action epic, Avatar: Fire and Ash promises to push the characters, the world around them, and the franchise into new territory as it introduces the greatest threat that Jake Sully and his family have ever faced.

The footage suggests that not much has changed in Cameron’s approach in telling the Avatar epic, but then why would it when the franchise has already made billions? Revealing our first look at new tribes, heroes, and villains, those already enamored with the Avatar saga will quickly become teary-eyed when presented with this tease of another glorious epic.

Avatar: Fire And Ash First Official Poster Released; Trailer Confirmed To Debut With The Fantastic Four
Image
Disney has confirmed recent reports that the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash will screen ahead of Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps this weekend. We're not sure when it will be released online, but we're hearing July 28 (it will almost certainly leak before then).

In the meantime, we have a first official poster for the sci-fi threequel, which introduces Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) as the villainous leader of the Ash People, aka the Mangkwan Clan, Varang.

Cameron has previously said of the character: "Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil."

Check out the poster artwork at the link below, along with some reactions to the trailer, which was shown to those in attendance at last night's LA premiere of First Steps.

Everything We Know About Avatar: Fire & Ash
We’ll dig into the fourth and fifth movies eventually, but they’re still pretty far down the line. For now, we’ve put together a list of everything we know about Avatar: Fire and Ash. Here we go:

James Cameron Shares an Update on His Long-Awaited World War II Movie: 'It's So Important Right Now'
Image
Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron opens up about his hotly-anticipated Ghosts of Hiroshima.

Speaking to Deadline, Cameron discussed his adaptation of Charles Pellegrino's upcoming book, Ghosts of Hiroshima, which is based largely on the life and experiences of Tsutomo Yamaguchi, who survived both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings during the Second World War.

"I don’t want to get into the politics of, should it have been dropped, should they have done it, and all the bad things Japan did to warrant it, or any of that kind of moralizing and politicizing," Cameron stated. "I just want to deal in a sense with what happened, almost as if you could somehow be there and survive and see it."

When asked why he wanted to avoid drawing any direct political lines within the film, Cameron replied, "Because I just think it’s so important right now for people to remember what these weapons do.

James Cameron's $2.3 Billion Period Piece Hits Prime Video's Top 10 28 Years Later
Image
James Cameron's record-breaking period movie, Titanic, is enjoying new streaming success 28 years after its original release. The film is currently climbing the charts on Prime Video.

FlixPatrol reports that Titanic is holding the #10 spot on Amazon Prime's Top 10 in the United States on June 21, 2025. The 1997 romantic disaster movie was directed, written, co-produced and co-edited by Cameron, using both historical and fiction events from the night of the Titanic's ill-fated first voyage. The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose respectively, two people from very different backgrounds who quickly fall in love when they meet on the ship.

Since its release, Titanic has become one of the highest-grossing films of all time, and it was the first film to ever reach the billion-dollar mark at the box office. It held onto the title of the highest-grossing film until 2010, when another James Cameron movie -- Avatar -- surpassed it.

Avatar's Jack Champion Reacts to AI-Generated Claims About Upcoming Sequels
Image
Actor Jack Champion is known in part for his role as Spider in the Avatar franchise. Ahead of the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash later this year, Champion is setting the record straight on some claims made about the upcoming Avatar films and his Spider character.

Per Screen Rant, Champion recently took part in a "Debunking AI" video to field a variety of statements made about his career via generative AI. Some comments were made about what's happening with Spider in Avatar: Fire and Ash, and he confirmed that it sounded "fairly accurate," though he couldn't clarify anything to avoid spoilers. With the fourth film that's also in the works, however, there was one claim Champion was able to shut down outright.

The "fairly accurate" claim concerned Spider's next moves, with AI guessing that the character "may join the Metkayina clan and adopt their culture, with him interacting with Tsireya,...

Marvel Studios’ 2027 Mystery Movie: 10 Possible MCU Titles It Could Be
Image
Marvel Studios currently has an open theatrical release date set for July 23, 2027, and the project attached to that slot remains unannounced. While Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are both slated for December 16, 2026, and December 17, 2027, respectively, this standalone summer spot has fans speculating about what the mystery MCU film could be.

It’s not uncommon for Marvel to hold release dates without revealing the project tied to them, and the July slot is a key summer box office position. Historically, Marvel has used similar windows to launch both sequels and new franchises, making this a strong contender for a major MCU installment.

Disney just recently announced another untitled Marvel Studios project is set to release on December 15, 2028. Disney has started to release their biggest movies of the year in that mid-December window; with 2025's Avatar 3, 2026's Avengers: Doomsday, 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars and 2029's Avatar 4 all releasing in mid-December of their respected years.

James Cameron Dives into Dark Fantasy with ‘The Devils’ After ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’
Image
James Cameron is stepping away from the vibrant world of Pandora for his next big project. The acclaimed director, known for blockbusters like ‘Titanic’ and ‘The Terminator’, is set to tackle a chilling new venture. He’s adapting ‘The Devils’, a novel by Joe Abercrombie, into a film that promises a grim and thrilling ride. This move comes right after he wraps up ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, the third chapter in his sci-fi saga.

‘The Devils’ is a dark fantasy tale set in an alternate medieval Europe. It follows a ragtag group of monsters, criminals, and outcasts tasked with saving the continent from flesh-eating elves. Think of it as a gritty, gothic version of ‘Suicide Squad’, blending horror with sharp wit. The story centers on Brother Diaz, a priest expecting a holy mission, only to find himself leading a crew of murderers and magical misfits. Their quest demands brutal choices,...

The Devils | James Cameron to co-write new fantasy film
Image
Following a rather long stint on his Avatar films, James Cameron will be picking up the reins on Joe Abercrombie’s fantasy novel, The Devils.

Although it may seem like James Cameron has been working on his Avatar films and only his Avatar films for many years now, we have seen inklings here or there that the veteran filmmaker may yet be coaxed from the world of Pandora and back into other realms, imaginary or otherwise.

In autumn of last year he announced that he’d secured the rights to Charles Pellegrino’s 2015 book Last Train From Hiroshima, adding that he’d also snapped up the rights to the author’s forthcoming follow-up, Ghosts Of Hiroshima and planned to adapt the novels into an ‘“uncompromising theatrical film.”

Pellegrino’s book covers the devastating effects of the atomic bomb, from its detonation on the 6th August 1945 to the suffering left behind in its wake.

James Cameron's New Horror Movie Announcement Has Us Asking One Question
Image
If there's one lesson we've learned over the course of the last 40-odd years of cinema, it's to never bet against James Cameron. There were bets against him when the maverick filmmaker took on the "Titanic," and again when he insisted on building the imaginative and lush alien world of "Avatar" a decade later. In both instances, Cameron's ventures not only succeeded, but made him a king of Hollywood cinema.

"Avatar" is currently two movies deep into a planned five-movie saga, but now it looks like Cameron will be taking a detour after "Avatar: Fire and Ash." As the filmmaker himself announced in a press release via his Facebook page today, Cameron's company, Lightstorm Entertainment, has acquired the rights to author Joe Abercrombie's latest novel, "The Devils." That novel was literally just published on May 13, but it's already built up quite a bit of buzz, even leaving Cameron's interest aside.

Marvel delays Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars
Image
The timeline for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been extended. According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios revealed this week that the release dates for its next two Avengers films have been pushed back. Avengers: Doomsday, which was originally slated to release on May 1, 2026, will now come out on December 18, 2026. The follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, was similarly pushed back from May 7, 2026 to December 17, 2027.

So if you were planning to spend your next two summers with the Avengers, surprise, you'll now be ringing in the holidays with them instead. Fortunately, this isn't that bad of a delay; at least Doomsday and Secret Wars are still planned for the same year they were originally going to come out, just seven months later.

This change to Marvel's release schedule comes only a couple of months after they announced the core cast for the fifth Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday. That one...

Hollywood has been going through a transitional phase, business and function-wise, for some time now. On top of that, President Donald Trump is here to save the industry by imposing 100% tariffs on American films made abroad, or at least he believes so. Anderson, who often likes to shoot internationally, pointed out some flaws in the president’s reasons and beliefs. Let’s explore Trump’s plan and why Anderson thinks it’s not great.
