I saw this sitting in back of the director at SXSW. Unfortunately I could not hang around to ask questions but maybe this is/was better as it keeps me thinking.
It appears on the surface the story is focused on a female freelance casting director working with a tough to please director. The director forces her to push potential actors in uncomfortable audition scenarios on camera. Here the film focuses on the Real faces of the auditioning individuals.
From this base introduction the film begins to expand deeper on the casting director and individual who is renting her a room for short time she is working on casting contract. There relationship slowly develops and she begins to understand his budding career as a PhD candidate and they become maybe friends? This begins to sour for reasons I will not divulge however it has nothing to do with intimacy between the two.
As she struggles with her work, he experiences similar frustrations with his direction and I believe the focus of the Real Faces are actually these two and their lives.
