First of all, the trailer for Lodge was quite frankly the best trailer I've ever seen in my life. The rhythm, the energy, the theming, the music. Everything worked perfectly and made me antsy to watch day 1.
Once the show began, the unraveling themes kept each new episode exciting. The actors were young, apart from Charles Chamberlin of course, but their performances were measured and skillful. The pull of each cliffhanger varied, but each episode gave a satisfactory story arch.
The cinematography was excellent, and the grades were beautiful-the Western was especially nice.
My main critique of the show was the connection between episodes. While this may seem large, I think there's an argument that Lodge can adequately be experienced with each episode in isolation. But, as a cohesive narrative, I wish there was more explanation for the motivations of the main cast. Also, characters sometimes fall off and it's like nobody notices they're even gone. It's a bit strange, but don't let this deter you.
As a web series, this show is undoubtedly a fun watch. It follows characters in their little and big challenges, and culminates in an epic way. It's imperfect, but I love it!
