This film was slow to get going but then really developed into a great story line.
Feedback 1: The characters and the acting were extremely believable. It held my interest all the way through. There were some tender moments between Anton the deserter and the female characters. There were some graphic descriptions of nazi's treatment of Jewish people.
The end scenes which were acted incredibly well made me feel emotionally towards the characters in a positive and also negative way.
Feedback 2: This story hits you with real emotional force, particularly given the tragic reality of ongoing genocides. Its power lies in its simplicity, allowing the resilience of the human spirit to shine through.
The film's deliberate restraint in location and cast proved remarkably effective. It fostered an intimate atmosphere where characters felt authentic, conversations flowed naturally, and genuine connections blossomed. The breathtaking scenery further enriched the narrative, portraying both the stark isolation and the unwavering strength of the people within a landscape of stunning, yet unforgiving, beauty.

The Deserter really caught me off guard-in the best way. It starts out super tense with a lot of unspoken tension between the two leads, but slowly turns into something way more emotional and layered. The acting is incredible, especially considering how quiet and stripped-back everything is. You can feel every bit of pain, mistrust, and humanity in their performances. The setting is stunning. The World War II drama space is super crowded, and honestly, it often feels like you've seen it all before. But this one brings something really different and unexpected. If you like slow-burn stories that stay with you, this one's definitely worth a watch.

Absolutely worth watching - this film is a true masterpiece. Emotionally performed, deeply moving, and visually stunning. The actors deliver raw, heartfelt performances that stay with you long after the credits roll. Every scene is crafted with such care and precision that it pulls you right into the story. The cinematography is breathtaking, capturing both grand landscapes and intimate moments perfectly. Don't miss out on this powerful and unforgettable experience that touches both heart and soul. It's a haunting reminder of how terrible World War II was - and that we are all human beings who deserve to live in peace, not war.
