A Brutal, Beautiful Spiral of Consequence - One of 2025's Darkest Surprises

Karma isn't just another crime thriller-it's a slow descent into the darkest corners of fate, choice, and consequence. Director Lee Il-hyung (also the writer) crafts a lean, six-episode experience that wastes no time, offering tension-drenched storytelling and character work that hits harder than expected.

Adapted from the webtoon Ill-fated Relationship, the series weaves together the lives of six people, all trapped in a tangled web of past trauma, financial desperation, and irreversible decisions. Park Hae-soo leads with a quiet intensity, playing a man who makes a morally ambiguous choice after witnessing a strange accident. Shin Min-a gives one of her strongest performances as a doctor haunted by childhood scars, and the supporting cast-Lee Hee-joon, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, and Gong Seung-yeon-deliver equally raw, nuanced performances.

This show thrives in its atmosphere. Everything from the cinematography to the pacing feels calculated but never cold. It doesn't spoon-feed you emotions or moral answers; it just shows you what people do when they're cornered by life-and lets you sit with it.

Brutal. Thoughtful. Unforgiving. That's Karma. It might not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate grounded, character-driven thrillers that respect the audience's intelligence, it's easily one of 2025's standout series. Don't sleep on this one.

Karma - Twists, Tension, and Top-Tier Storytelling

Korean TV shows have a well-earned reputation for deep, layered storytelling-and Karma takes that legacy and turns it up a notch. When it comes to jaw-dropping twists and turns, this series doesn't just meet expectations-it raises the bar.

From the very first episode, Karma grips you and doesn't let go. What makes it even more impressive is how it weaves multiple storylines together-each compelling on its own-without ever feeling messy or overwhelming. It all ties together beautifully in the end, leaving you both satisfied and impressed.

The direction is sharp, the pacing is spot on, and the acting hits the mark at every turn. You can tell the creators knew exactly what they were doing-and they executed it with precision.

All in all, this is easily one of the best Korean TV shows on Netflix right now. If you love layered narratives and smart storytelling, Karma is a must-watch.

First reviewer

Karma (South Korea) Karma is a fast-paced and emotionally intense film that dives deep into the flaws and dark instincts of human nature. It's brutal, violent, and unflinching, yet captivating from start to finish. The storytelling is sharp and relentless, with no wasted scenes. Each moment adds tension and depth, making the experience unforgettable. While not easy to watch, the film is thought-provoking and delivers a powerful message about consequences and the human psyche. A must-see for fans of raw and uncompromising cinema.

The cast includes seven well-known Korean stars: Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-joon, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, Gong Seung-yeon, and Choi Yoo-hwa - each delivering strong, memorable performances.

Karma🔥

Karma" presents a complex narrative that intertwines the lives of its characters through themes of fate and consequence. While the series boasts strong performances and a thought-provoking plot.

This drama has only six episodes, but each one is so intense that I couldn't stop, that's why I binge-watched it. I love every single episode. The actors truly brought their roles to life.

Each character has an intriguing story, and everyone is closely intertwined in unexpected twists. The title Karma perfectly captures the essence of the drama.

Storytelling, acting, suspense, background music, cinematography, pacing, and even its concise format-this drama is a perfect 10/10. I wholeheartedly urge you to watch Karma 2025, especially if this genre aligns with your interests or if you're looking to explore something new.

No one does vengeance like korean cinema

I just stumbled on this show and only was going to watch an episode to check it out. I had no previous knowledge of this show or the cast.

I was hooked after the first episode and binge watched the entire series in one shot. While this is a series, it feels more like a long movie. When a series gives you that sensation, its probably because its really good.

Had to look up the movie since I was curious about it and it seems to be based on a kakao webtoon of the same name, which kind of explains why the story is so well thought out. The way the series was edited was really well done but I felt like they gave away too much and it became obvious at a certain point what was ending was going to be. The story is edited in a back and forth time jump, perhaps to confuse the viewer with overly abundant details so that the ending wouldn't be obvious.

I really enjoyed the story. Basically a vengeance story with a satisfying ending. I haven't read it so I'm not sure if the webtoon was this intricate in laying down the backstory for each character, then intertwining them together but thats how this series turned out. The script was just really well done and edited.

There were a few things I felt could have been done differently. The subtitles are terrible, sometimes its better to write the true, more direct translation instead of interpreting it as what it would be the most similar in english. Even if it doesn't make complete sense or the grammar is incorrect, I think the audience would better understand.

Second issue was the overly vivid and exaggerated colors used in the film. This has become very common place in kpop music videos and alot of korean movies since Snowpiercer, its also very common in korean TV. I thought it in this application, it diminished the theme a little bit. The effect works when you want to present a surreal environment but doesn't work so well in this dark thriller drama.

Setting is top notch. Beautiful background of the clean modern techno city that is Seoul but also that gritty grimey alleyway Gotham like city that is also Seoul.

Highly recommend this series.

Intriguing depiction of karmic justice

As one might imagine from the name, Karma depicts several people reaping the rewards for their misdeeds. Or put another way, we watch horrible people meet horrible ends, usually as a result of their own actions.

Many of the characters presented are so despicable that watching their self-destruction gives the sense of observing a slow-motion train-wreck from which we cannot quite look away. Indeed, we almost eagerly await these people facing their karma.

As Kdramas are famous for, Karma gives us a complex narrative filled with complex characters. And while I was never amazed, I was certainly always intrigued. The dense storytelling does a good job of keeping the viewing guessing about the relationships between characters, just what's going, and why. An overlapping nonlinear narrative covers the same events multiple times, widening our understanding of the overall picture with each passing scene. It strives for something akin to Memento, but never quite reaches such lofty heights of film making.

The show is helped by its short episode count, because while I don't think I'd have tolerated a full 16 episode depiction of such people, at 6 episodes I was always eager to see what was next and how it would all come together.

The end result is a highly watchable show suitable for anyone who likes piecing together some mystery in their dramas.

If you're looking for a captivating Korean drama, I highly recommend "Karma." This series skillfully blends themes of fate and revenge, following a young woman whose life takes a dark turn after a tragic incident. The character development is outstanding, drawing you into the protagonist's emotional journey.

The lead's performance is particularly powerful, making her struggles feel real and relatable. The cinematography enhances the story beautifully, balancing intense moments with reflective scenes.

Each episode is packed with tension and unexpected twists, keeping you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoy psychological thrillers and gripping storytelling, "Karma" is a must-watch!

My title is 10/10 because this mini serie is insanely good , top notch , same quality level as Fargo and 1st season of True Detective , I don't write many reviews but for this one i had to take the time; i am actually surprised that other reviews would only give it 7 or 8 stars as for me this is a 9 or 10 without hesitation.

The plot is a bit complexe but still ok to follow you just have to make sure which is character is who and does what.

The twists and turns were brilliantly executed, keeping me hooked as I tried to piece everything together like an intricate puzzle. Not a single character or storyline felt wasted, and by the end, all loose ends were tied up seamlessly.

A must watch , and once again as the title says it's a definite 10 out of 10.

Hit or Miss- Shin Min-A got less screentime

If you're here for Shin Min-A i suggest you go and rewatch Hometown Chachacha Karma"- a mini 6 episoded series by Netflix tempts you into watching it with its star studded casting line- with famous actress "Shin Min-A" known for her roles in "Hometown ChaChaCha" and "Our blues" being promoted as the main character- but only in posters and trailers. Her screen time is like less than 45 minutes. The story mainly revolves around other swindlers of the story who barely leave an impression on you before they drop dead in 28minutes. There's no backstory for most of them making their deaths just a waste of time. "Karma" is basically an understatement. This drama was just a domino of mishaps started by a good for nothing manchild wanting to kill his father for a meagre sum of insurance money which lead to the death of nasty people who dont deserve to live. Its worth watching once i guess? Anyways thank you for taking time to read my review. I hope you have a wonderful day ahead. I instead recommend the kdrama "When life gives you tangerines"

Bad things happening to bad people

That's basically it. I liked the concept. It was certainly unique. I especially liked the way things ended. Revenge being enacted not at the hands of the victim but fate itself. The way the show connects the fate of each character is done beautifully.

While the film had its moments, I wouldn't describe it as a particularly thrilling experience. Many of the plot twists were easy to anticipate, which took away much of the suspense and excitement. On top of that, I noticed several logical inconsistencies and plot holes that made it harder to stay fully engaged. That said, it wasn't a complete letdown- the unique concept, performances of the characters and some other elements kept it watchable. However, when compared to some of the more compelling thrillers I've seen, this one definitely fell short.

Exceptional

Absolutely loved this! Amazing plot, excellent acting and a title that lives up to its name! Definitely deserves the 10 stars I've just given it.

Every part of it is tightly wrapped up into six well scripted episodes. Each one delves deeper into the twisted and despicable characters laid before you, all interwoven into each others stories with a web that just seems to get bigger as you get further in.

Six episodes was just enough, anymore would have been pointless and could have ruined the amazing atmosphere that was carefully created. This series has cemented itself into my top 10 of all time.

Best Korean Drama, atleast in 2025, for sure

This is the kind of content because of which I respect Korean Movies and Series creators. I mean the plot execution is so brilliant and so well connected from scenes to scenes. That you just can't drop your attention for a single scene. All the actors have done an amazing job. Story execution is awesome and it's script and screenplay writers are nothing less than genius. It's actually kind of series, you can watch multiple times, you don't get enough watching once. Background music is also very good. Entire series, all the episodes are like edge of the seat thriller, I mean you keep guessing what will happen next but then suddenly there is a new twist and your guess is never right. It is 10/10 without any doubt.

A very well done series!

Easily one of the finest limited Korean series of the year! Story revolves around one accident n 6 characters n how each character is intertwined to each other n to the accident. With the title Karma, story makes complete justice with numerous twists one after the other showcasing how they pay for each of their deeds. Every twist comes unexpected n difficult to guess. Though quite slow yet very neat perfect direction. A total of 6 episodes with each an average of 45 minutes. Dubbed in Hindi as well. Available in Netflix, my ratings 8.5/10!

Top-notch Direction and Storytelling

I've seen quite a few series with non-linear plots like this, but this 6 episodes of Karma hit differently.

The storytelling feels tight, no unnecessary scenes dragging out the runtime. Each episode moves fast and layers its twists beautifully. Not once did i feel bored or lose focus. Every scene is crafted so well, and every flashbacks are perfectly placed to enrich the story.

The director really nailed it with a classy recipe that allowss the characters developed perfectly. My special shoutout to Park Hae Soo and Lee Hee Joon for their standout performances. We often see them working through all kinds of complicated emotions, and when they do, their expressions totally reflect who they are as characters.

A Haunting Masterpiece of Fate and Redemption

Karma is a gripping psychological thriller that masterfully explores how a single tragic incident intertwines the lives of six strangers-each carrying their own dark secrets and emotional scars. Set in the cold, clinical backdrop of Seoul, the series slowly peels away layers of guilt, trauma, and fate, revealing how deeply karma runs in the lives of those who try to escape it.

The story centers around a physician haunted by nightmares, a man whose life has crumbled in the aftermath of a mysterious event, and others drawn into an emotional and moral whirlwind. Their lives collide in unexpected and tragic ways, leading to questions about justice, redemption, and whether we can ever truly outrun our past.

What sets Karma apart is its commitment to emotional realism. The performances-especially by Shin Min-a and Park Hae-soo-are subtle yet powerful. Every look and silence feels loaded with buried pain. The pacing is slow-burn, but never dull, and the cinematography creates a haunting atmosphere that lingers long after each episode ends.

If you're a fan of dark, character-driven dramas with philosophical undertones and unpredictable twists, Karma will stay with you. It's not just a show-it's an experience.

A Non-Linear Thriller That Never Wastes a Second

Karma is one of the finest Korean mini-series in the suspense-thriller genre. It features a brilliantly structured non-linear storyline that keeps you fully engaged, without a single unnecessary scene to drag the pace. Every moment serves the plot. The series seamlessly brings together different characters and their individual struggles, gradually revealing how their lives are interconnected by a single issue-real-life karma in its truest form. The characters are strong, distinct, and deeply human, and their performances elevate the emotional weight of the story. It's a smart, gripping series that perfectly captures the idea that what goes around, comes around.

Intertwined by Fate, punished by Karma

Karma is a 6 episodes Korean thriller series that revolves around six lives, each navigating their own personal battles with past mistakes and the weight of their decisions.

Every episode has a tense setting, characters with a past and a top-notch storytelling that keeps you guessing till the end. What makes Karma stand out is how these individual stories intertwine, building a larger picture of fate and consequence. The theme of karma is ever-present, with characters' wrong choices haunting them in often tragic ways. The acting and emotional depth is on point.

Karma is not only an intense but thought-provoking watch. It wasn't just the twists and suspense that kept me hooked-it was the deep dive into human nature and the exploration of how even small decisions can alter the course of our lives.

My Rating : 4.5/5.

A thriller that will churn your belly

Karma has been stirring the audience for the past few weeks ever since it dropped its curtain. The reason behind its impeccable popularity is because of its gripping storyline and jaw-dropping plot.

The series' inception ignites the catapult as a firefighter is rushed to a hospital in a flammable state. A pair of doctors saved his life. The scene swiftly shifts to a rented apartment where a man is dragged out by the goons of a loan shark. He gets saved before his organs are chopped apart from his body. The hunting does not end here as a son kills his father to earn insurance money and save his ass.

This six-episode miniseries is drenched in love and hunger. The craving more more and fear of losing cripples human more than they expect it. It's a truth that we all are driven by our lust for survival. Nothing can get in between the need. And when our needs get threatened, our power to make decisions gets clouded.

A witness to a serious crime finds his life turning upside down. Park Hae Soo, in the shoes of a tentative witness, breaks the stereotype and carves a snowball through multiple shades.

The director does not even use the name to bring characters alive. They are called debtors, loan sharks, and witnesses when they arrive on the scene. To reflect on the intricacies of life, the name holds no importance. The story kept on getting darker with the passing of each episode.

Korean dramas pay extra care when they build a thriller. Karma, just like its meaning suggests, is a dark tale laced in life's sarcasm. It is bitter and gruesome, but intriguing more than ever.
