When Lucía (Susana Abaitua) is arrested for driving her new boyfriend's car covered in blood at high speed, she only remembers an argument that ended with her fiance having his head smashed with a bottle. Then, her boyfriend and her best friend's disappearance follows. Lucía is left with complete amnesia and she is also an unstable person, and , of course, she doesn't know where the two companions she shared the night with are. So, the main question to be resolved is the following: what really happened to Lucia,?. When she is arrested Lucia's legally asisted by a defender, Oliver (Julián Villagran), who has debts problems due to his compulsive gambling. The lawyer hires Simon (Hugo Silva), considered by himself as a kind of judicial expert, to monitor Lucía and discover what is happening to her, but the two fall madly in love.
The movie delivers a blend of modern Film Noir, dark comedy and dreamy moments. It stars three accomplished Spanish film actors playing three peculiar roles surviving in a world that makes things quite difficult for them. The main character is performed by Hugo Silva as Simon, a fan de Humphrey Bogart noirs, who falls in love with an amnesiac woman suspected for murder played by Susana Abaitua, while the compulsive gambling lawyer is amusingly portrayed by Julián Villagran. Although these three main actors are sufficiently good, the appearance of well-known supporting actors is missed, who, for lack of anything better, usually liven up the stories of the Spanish cinema. The picture is visually stunning, in which madness and sanity interwine without much sense; as a result, it is never quite clear who the good guy is. The film's essential problem is that it doesn't know what to expect, at times it borders on black comedy or parody, at others on a hard and frenetic thriller, only to end up as a tragic and serious drama involving murder.
The motion picture was professionally written and directed by Alberto Utrera, although it has flaws in the script and doesn't adequately find out the many unexpected twists and turns that arise here and there, throughout the complex plot. The director shoots the film with a particular narrative structiure, full of flashbacks, black and white frames imitating the American Film Noir and other scenes with a grainy tinge. Alberto Utrera had previously made a few films without much success, such as: Smoking Club 129 rules, Yrreal, La senda del pecado, Ciencia maps, Impuros, Bajo la red , Bajo la red 2 the movie. Score: 5.5/10. It's an acceptable and passable movie , but far from perfect, though it displays a certain cinephile grace.
