The other reviewer who gave a 2/10, fun fact he also gave the Vinland Saga season 2 a negative review. So, please ignore his words.
This anime is going to be great. Especially, if you liked the Tokyo Revengers early on. This anime is the same theme but better direction and MC. Having read the manga, I know the character development that is coming, and trust me you want to be around for that.
And my absolute FAVORITE thing about this anime is that all the characters are good. The side characters or supporting characters won't be annoying for no reason. It's going to be a fun ride so stick around. Even the antagonists are well written and makes you feel for them as well, which mediocre animes cannot accomplish.

Say what you will about the characters or story. Though there been a couple parts that have got me in my feels.
The thing I want to rave about though is the fights. They are so well done that the only words I can thing to describe them is "beautifully Choreographed" I know they are drawn, but that's how good they are.
It's martial arts fighting styles, a Kung fu anime! I love it and have to give props to the animators. Animating the body moving like that and making it look so amazing takes so much talent! Can't wait to see more.
If you liked the fights in samurai Champloo I think you'll love this. And the "I didn't know the human body was so warm" I almost cried. Someone hug that kid for God sakes!

The setting is truly ridiculous. Each school district is a gang turf. You've got students that attend these schools, but there are no teachers to be found or classes being held. It's basically one giant hangout for gangsters. You got these massive street brawls involving dozens of people, but cops are non-existent. In fact, the townspeople rely on the gangs themselves for protection. Gratefully so. The members of these gangs are also incredible fighters. I'm talking pro level MMA, veteran kickboxing, highly-trained combatants. Throw in over-the-top drama along with some superficially deep philosophy on having "conversations with your fists", or what it takes to get to the top and you've got a pretty good idea on what this show is all about.
And yet despite all that, it's entertaining. If you can accept the absurdity for what it is and don't think too hard about it there's a decent show here. The animation alone is worth your time. It's utterly superb. A lot of animators take shortcuts when it comes to action scenes because it's easier to draw. As long as the audience gets the basic gist, that's good enough. Well, not in this series. They really went the extra mile for these fights. More than that, each major character has a unique fighting style, and they go through the trouble of showing that in great detail. Besides being visually stunning, it gives these people an extra layer of substance that elevates what would otherwise be something closer to generic or two-dimensional. I mean, they're still pretty generic, but since combat is a major feature of the show fighting style becomes a part of their personality. It definitely helps.
There's nothing novel about this series. They use familiar tropes you'll recognize immediately. The story is also nothing to write home about. However, they put these elements together so well that you won't really mind. This is a fun, easily digestible show. It doesn't need to be any more than that.

Good for a start. It has good graphics. And the story is not bad in its genre. The characterization of the main character is convincing. But I hope the characterization of the other characters is also convincing. The pace of the story seems slow. The story is not very deep but it can be entertaining. The variety of characters is not bad, but the logic of the story is not convincing in my opinion. The story is a bit like Tokyo Revengers. The reason for the characters to fight is not enough at all. And even the main character's reason for fighting is cliche. The main character's goals are not interesting but tolerable. Overall, this anime can be watched for fun.

I was looking for a new anime to enjoy. This is a really good show to watch. A decent plot and some awesome fight scenes. I'm halfway through the season and it's been good to watch and enjoy. The characters are interesting and it's not the typical story with the normal story line. It is a fascinating fighting anime. If you enjoy a good action sequence and character development you'll enjoy this one. Did I mention this anime isn't about mystical creatures, alien invasions, just some students wanting a better community for better living and a better school and will to fight to get it all at all cost.

Whether you will like a show or not can only be found out by watching it. I think this anime is doing a great job so far!
As of now the thing that impressed me a lot is the choreography of all the fights we've seen so far. The graphics are great! The cast is really cool in my opinion and it's not that the side characters are just bland ones to fill up the cast. They all have they're own good personality and most importantly fighting style!
At first I thought it was not going to be much of a story and just simply throwing hands, but now with 8 episodes released this has changed. I won't get into it because of spoilers but throughout the episodes the character development has gotten very good already.
I can't wait to see more of this and i'll for sure pick up the manga afterwards!

Season 1 is fantastic. Main character is quite interesting and so are he other characters you meet among the way. The plot of highschool delinquents basically being the neighborhood police is a great concept that really puts itself against the main characters self worth and overall view of the world as his environment begins to shape him into a better person.
Season 1 had a lot of mystery and action. Season 2 rolls around and the story just becomes a highschool drama. It all starts to roll off hill when they introduce a Transgendered student that one of the schools strong people.
The story seems to shift away from the old plot and revolve around the transgendered student in an annoying way as literally no one has as much back story given about them not even the main character. You get a whole slew of episodes about this one character.
The end of the day my question is why? I almost feel like the creators chickened out and didn't make this transgendered character the main characters love interest. Which would make a lot more sense since he didn't mind going out on a date with them.
Instead they give us episode after episode of the same ol' it's okay to be gay routine. Which I have had enough of entirely. They spend so much time developing this transgender character to do not much with them. So what was the point really?
And why did they backdown off making the transgendered character the main Characters love interests after floating the idea he was attracted to them.
That's how bad season 2 is. I came in wanting to see more fists to face action but instead am discussing a transgendered character's love life.
Season 2 is a mess. Season 1 was great though.

The thing about this show is that you just need to accept that its a cringy delinquent anime that is written for (imo) late middle schoolers / early highschoolers. The dialouge, some character designs, and some character arcs can be cringy, tacky, and somewhat overdone. There is no reality in the world building -- there are no teachers, police, or parents mentioned at all. It doesn't make sense why these kids are able to do what they do-- HOWEVER!!
If you just turn off your brain for a second and accept that you are about to watch a delinquent anime that is unafraid to rely on tropes, this show is unironically really good.
This show has the best hand-to-hand combat I've ever seen animated. The opening fight scene is worth looking up and watching on its own, even if you don't watch the show..
The friendships between the characters don't feel forced and actually feel quite healthy and strong, which I really enjoy. The MC's character flaws are handled quite well and are not super dragged out. The character design, although occasionally somewhat tacky and predictable, is generally solid. There are some surprisingly solid lessons about leadership that are delivered quickly and effectively.
Accept this show for what it is and the characters will grow on you. Sakura made me cringe a bit at the beginning, now I'm relentlessly endeared how he's really just an insecure kid figuring his stuff out.
Also, there is a gay character that presents as a woman that is handled quite well!!!!
Overall, once you accept its faults, Wind Breaker is well animated and has some great characters. I would reccomend it for a fun watch.

Wind Breaker stands out as one of the best anime series I've watched in 2024. The combination of intense cycling battles, strong character development, and a compelling storyline makes it a must-watch. Every episode is packed with adrenaline-pumping moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. The interactions among the characters and the depth of their struggles-both on and off the road-add a lot of heart to the series, making it more than just a sports anime.
The first season ends on a high note, leaving viewers with a sense of curiosity and excitement for what's to come. The cliffhanger in the last episode left me eagerly waiting for Season 2. The mix of friendships, rivalries, and self-growth resonates strongly, making this anime not just thrilling but also emotionally engaging. If you enjoy dynamic storytelling with a focus on perseverance and teamwork, Wind Breaker is an anime you shouldn't miss.

"Wind Breaker" (Season 1, 2024, 7.4/10) - a lively and visually striking start to a new shounen story that focuses on street fights, brotherhood, and inner principles. The series follows Haruka Sakura, a newcomer at a school where strength rules all - but unlike others, he's driven not by a thirst for power, but by a personal code of honor.
The animation is one of the show's key strengths. The fights are staged with flair, and the motion is drawn with an emphasis on energy and style. Each battle feels like a character-driven scene, which works well for the genre. The color palette and lighting give off the right kind of urban polish without slipping into darkness.
The characters, while not especially original, do their job well. Sakura is likable for his bluntness and determination, and the supporting cast - especially the "Bofurin" team - add some light humor and friendly dynamics that keep things engaging. That said, many of the characters are still underdeveloped - emotional depth is only just beginning to emerge.
The plot doesn't offer much in the way of surprises - it's pretty linear: a rookie, conflicts, fights, and team bonding. But thanks to the brisk pace and the charisma of the characters, the series doesn't drag. There is a bit of repetitiveness in the middle, and the characters' motivations could use more depth.
In the end, the first season of Wind Breaker is a solid shounen debut - full of energy, style, and good rhythm. It's more about form than substance for now, but if the second season develops the drama, the series has the potential to grow into something more meaningful. For now, it's entertaining - but not deeply moving.

The show was promising in season 1 even with some plot holes. The fight scenes, characters and bond between them all seemed good and viewers had a clear idea on where the story was going.
Season 2 on the other hand has been a letdown. The story is all over the place and I had no idea where it was going at any point. I do not have any issues with LGBT topics or characters in anime. However spending 4 episodes to deal with the same topic seemed an overkill and boring. Also the fights and storytelling were monotonous.
I would suggest watching season 1 and be done with the show. However if you are okay switching from a fighting anime to a slice of life anime and watch a Socio-economic show about the life of a Trans character you can go ahead with season 2.

Ok, so this anime is not fully out at the time of writing this. However, having read the Manga, I have to say this is a really good show. The fight scenes are top notch. The characters are all enjoyable, especially the main character. I don't know, I don't have a lot to say about it, but you should go watch it, just give it a try. Now that I have said all that I wanted to, I am now going to proceed to spam charecters until the required amount is hit. Thanks for reading this mess of a "review"!

This anime is successful for its original concept, but why do the characters behave so softly? It's a fighting anime, yet it only focuses on one theme, and on top of that, the characters get into unnecessarily soft sequences. The main character isn't like a human and is extremely unrealistic. The main problem is that the anime doesn't present another topic. It was a waste of time to tell the story of someone who wanted to dress like a woman when there were so many other characters. After all, this isn't a Netflix anime, and there are more intriguing characters. This was a negative point that weighed down the series."

Windbreaker both S1 and S2 are great, honestly out of all the delinquent animangas I have watched/read this is in my personal top 3. The themes of friendships, bonds, and acceptance of others are honestly unique in terms of delinquent animangas and it's done well. The fight scenes are genuinely beautifully done the hand to hand combat is so damn good, but from what I have seen people complain on the "cringe" scenes which I disagree with it being cringe I can't tell if people never had heartfelt moments with their friends or are just too immature but I genuinely don't see the cringe. I also seen people hating on S2 saying it ruined what S1 had me personally I don't see it I think it picked up pretty well from the feeling of S1 and honestly from what I have read I think some of you missed the acceptance theme of the show they accept people for who they are and accept people who want to change. Also I can't believe I'm saying this, does it really matter if there are no teachers, parents, or staff, this is a fictional story man it's really not that deep. And lastly about the mc someone of you swear y'all don't like his character when he is trying to accept himself and his new environment surrounded by people he can trust, then hype up characters that either go through the same development or go through worse types of all because they are cooler. Overall this anime is good I definitely recommend it if you just want something fun, heartfelt, sweet, and with amazing action.

There are a few really, really good fights in the middle episodes of Wind Breaker's first season. Among the best I've seen between characters without superpowers. But a good high-school-delinquent-fighter-slice-of-life anime needs more than fight animation, and Wind Breaker didn't deliver on plot, character, or setting. I'm not interested in the tsudere protagonist's journey to becoming a normal person, I'm not interested in his thinly-drawn classmates, and I don't believe his town exists. Give me Angel Densetsu any day, or even Viral Hit. But do be sure to visit YouTube and search "Wind Breaker fight" at some point, because the animators worked hard for those scenes.

Another standout element is the sound design. The punch sounds are sharp and heavy-like steel crashing against steel-making every fight scene feel impactful and raw. When someone lands a hit, you feel it, like it echoes in your chest. The metallic clang and deep bass behind the action give the show this gritty, grounded feel that raises the tension instantly.
Even the walking sounds are carefully crafted. You can hear the difference between sneakers on pavement and the scuff of boots on concrete. These small details make the world of Wind Breaker feel alive, like you're actually standing in the middle of Furin High's streets with the gang. Whether it's the soft wind blowing during a quiet scene, or the gritty echo of footsteps before a fight breaks out-the audio always fits the moment perfectly.
I can't waiting for new eps3.

The first season of Wind Breaker is an emotional rollercoaster that left me laughing, crying, and smiling-sometimes all at once. It's rare to find a show that balances intense action with heartfelt storytelling so seamlessly, but this one pulls it off with style and sincerity. From the very first episode, I was hooked by the raw energy and the vibrant personalities of the characters. Haruka Sakura's journey isn't just about fighting-it's about finding purpose, connection, and strength in vulnerability.
What truly sets this season apart is its ability to evoke genuine emotion. The fight scenes are thrilling and beautifully animated, but it's the quieter moments-the flashbacks, the conversations, the internal struggles-that hit the hardest. I found myself tearing up during scenes that explored the characters' pasts and motivations. Their pain, hope, and determination felt real, and that emotional depth made every victory and setback resonate more deeply.
There's also a surprising amount of humor woven throughout the series. Whether it's the banter between teammates or the absurdity of some situations, the show knows when to lighten the mood without undermining its serious themes. And when it wants to uplift you, it does so with warmth and sincerity. I caught myself smiling during scenes of camaraderie and growth, especially as the characters began to trust and support one another.
In short, Wind Breaker's first season is more than just a fighting anime-it's a story about resilience, friendship, and finding your place in the world. It's incredibly moving and left a lasting impression on me. If you're looking for a show that delivers both adrenaline and emotion, this one's a must-watch.
