Wow, I've never seen anything like this from Oz, let alone a Sci-Fi. I mean sure the budget is low, but it's very well executed. Nice to see HILL acting in a film someone else has directed too. And he did a great job. I wonder if there's a sequel in the works? Would love to see what happens to the Ryan character...
And Ira Chakraborty was excellent. Showed a large range of emotions. Tackled a huge part/character, congrats to her also. Would love to see her in another film for sure. Simon Oliver has done a plethora of Alien documentaries and it was great to see him tackle a fictional piece. All round good fun.
After an Astronaut returns home from space there are fears he has not returned the same.
Better known for his alien documentaries, director Simon Oliver has turned to fiction as he brings Nathan Hill's new creation to life.
This sci-fi drama is refreshing and a great example of Australia being able to produce genre films. Dramatic and heartfelt, Hill has created a complex story that delivers without fail. Hill has successfully added sci-fi to his repertoire.
Available on Tubi along with a great selection of his other features and documentaries, Alien Love is a must-see for fans of sci-fi...

Alien Love is a delightful and heartwarming film that takes the concept of interstellar romance to new heights. From the moment the movie begins, it captivates the audience with its unique blend of sci-fi adventure and tender love story.
Plot and Characters The plot revolves around an unexpected encounter between a human astronaut and an alien from a distant galaxy. The chemistry between the lead characters is palpable, and their journey from initial mistrust to deep affection is beautifully portrayed. The film does an excellent job of exploring themes of acceptance, understanding, and the power of love to bridge even the widest of gaps.
Visuals and Special Effects The visuals in Alien Love are nothing short of spectacular. The alien landscapes are vividly imagined, and the special effects are top-notch, creating a believable and immersive extraterrestrial world. The attention to detail in the alien design and the futuristic technology adds an extra layer of authenticity to the film.
Soundtrack and Direction The soundtrack perfectly complements the emotional beats of the story, enhancing the romantic and adventurous elements. The direction is skillful, balancing moments of intense action with quieter, more intimate scenes that allow the characters' relationship to develop naturally.
Overall Experience Alien Love is a refreshing take on the sci-fi genre, offering a story that is both entertaining and emotionally resonant. It's a film that reminds us that love knows no boundaries, not even those of space and time. Whether you're a fan of romance, science fiction, or simply great storytelling, Alien Love is a must-watch.
If you're looking for a movie that will make you believe in the power of love, even in the most unlikely of places, Alien Love is the perfect choice.

Prepare for a cosmic comedy as outlandish as its title! Meet astronaut Ryan Van Hill-Song, who returns from space only to find his pregnant wife, Sadie, suspicious about his time among the stars. NASA sends a crew to track them down, leading to a humorous blend of sci-fi shenanigans, twists and turns.
I enjoyed how "Alien Love" embraces its low budget and fully capitalises on the genre's familiar tropes. I was laughing so hard because of its almost absurd delivery. When your husband returns from space, he is a changed man, so don't rush to jump into bed with him! I bet the cast had a blast filming!
If you enjoy a mix of absurdity and charm, this indie gem is worth a watch.

Is this movie a garage budget version of the Astronaut's Wife? Yes. Get pumped cause in all the ways that Astronaut's Wife is an intert slog Alien Love is compulsively watchable partly in that it's impossible to tell what is intent and what isn't.
Like can someone be this intentionally funny in a seemingly unintentional way? You'll ask yourself the question 5 times a minute. To muddy the waters further, the movie has legitimately good technique from everyone involved. Nathan Hill might be walking like he needs to poop his pants in an Adam Sandler movie while trying to fight a larger man but it works in the context of the film as an actual acting choice. Not since Hal Hartley films or Don Coscarelli's Phantasm movies have the messages been more mixed. It simulates the most confusing date you've ever been on but it involves aliens and middle aged Australians who I swear are related to Rhys Ifans.
Nathan doesn't technically direct this one but as an actor and writer he still really comes through. Most films he directs have a very Polanski (before he molested a kid) influence to them. They're very aware of composition and focus. The director here goes for framing based on out of focus colors and sometimes even in focus colors in various places. It tends to work and when it doesn't I still love the attempt. No boring Marvel camera work here.
I've watched every Nathan Hill movie I can find and how the guy isn't mentioned in the same breathes as Niel Breen, Julia Ducournau and Harmony Korine on the aint nobody else making movies like this guy conversations is beyond me.
