‘The Devil’s Plan’ Season 2 Finale Recap & Ending: Who Is The Winner?
Image
I can’t sit here and lie about this, so I’m just going to say it: you-know-who really became the devil to win the game! Initially, I was super skeptical about The Devil’s Plan and genuinely didn’t enjoy the first 3 episodes that I watched (I never got around to watching season 1), but as the show progressed, I found myself intrigued by the question of who might win and how. Of course, everyone ends up finding their favorites, and so did I, but they ended up getting eliminated pretty early on. Some of the participants had really good teamwork skills and may have done better in a group activity kind of show rather than this one, which is so focused on the individual. Hence the dozen or so betrayals. I think the final episode was definitely the strongest of the show, because we see the two finalists battle it out for real,...

‘The Devil’s Plan’ Season 2 Episodes 1-4 Recap & Review: Who Gets Eliminated?
Image
Before I get into my breakdown of The Devil’s Plan, or rather, before I completely break down after having watched more than 6 hours of this show, you deserve a little disclaimer: I’ve never enjoyed reality TV, but this one has got to be the most boring show I’ve ever watched in my entire life. Now, I can understand the appeal of reality TV. It might not be for me, but I get that the gossip, the backstabbing, the relatability, and everything else that works for them is somewhat entertaining, if nothing else. But The Devil’s Plan: Death Room by far has been the one reality show I’ve been forced to watch that somehow makes me feel the most like I’ve got it all wrong. By this, I mean I can’t think of a single thing that makes this show in any way watchable.

In season 2, 14 participants,...

Think Survivor, but it’s a chess game that takes place in a house with bedrooms that double as jail cells. Oh, and an anonymous masked man with a creepy pixelated face hosts the show.

Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown And Antoni Porowski Had An ‘Extreme Conflict'
Image
Over the last several years, Netflix has become a destination for most reality show fans. The reason for that is, on top of producing films featuring A-listers and TV shows starring celebrities, Netflix has a slew of beloved reality shows. Even though they have some serious competition, Queer Eye is widely regarded as the best Netflix reality show because the revival of the influential original series is extremely popular.

The biggest factor in Queer Eye's success is that the show's fans love the cast so much they will pay a fortune for a Jonathan Van Ness haircut. Many of those passionate and loyal Queer Eye fans would be sad to know that Karamo Brown and Antoni Porowski once had an "extreme conflict".

Queer Eye Star Karamo Brown Agreed With Fans Calling Netflix Out
Image
Over the last several years, Netflix has become a hub for reality show fans. After all, on top of the movies featuring A-list actors and TV shows headlined by major stars, Netflix also produces a lot of great reality shows. One example of that is the fact that Netflix produced the Queer Eye revival, which is based on the celebrated and highly influential original show.

As a result of how successful Queer Eye has become, the show's cast became so popular that Jonathan Van Ness can charge a fortune for a haircut. Since Netflix ultimately is responsible for the cast of Queer Eye becoming famous, it would seem like none of them would want to anger the company. Despite that, Karamo Brown once publicly sided with a group of Queer Eye fans who were calling Netflix out.

Netflixs Pop Star Academy Shows The Grueling Training Behind Girl Groups
Image
Netflix is no stranger to intense reality TV competition shows that wind up pitting contestants against one another. Another major genre for the streaming giant seems to be content that hails from Korea, such as romantic K-dramas, or its most watched series of all time, Squid Game. But what happens when you combine these two show types together?

The result is the documentary series Pop Star Academy: Katseye, which follows the formation of a pop star girl group as scouted by the same Korean executives known for creating the boy band BTS, which has been called the biggest pop group in the world. The episodes track the intense training the young women endure all in hopes of getting their shot at stardom - and it's far from an easy ride.

‘The 8 Show’ Review: A Satirical Take On Reality Television Shows That Falls Flath
Image
There are plenty of reality television shows that Netflix produces and they are going global by coming out with reality television shows in many languages. Amidst all of this is Netflix Korea, which is churning out many shows in the reality television genre. Squid Game is the most popular of the lot, and that drew the attention of the world towards Korean culture rather than the world-class cinema the makers of the country churned out. Single’s Inferno, Physical: 100, Squid Game: The Challenge, The Devil’s Plan, Love after Divorce, and Love Naggers are some of the Netflix Korean reality shows. While some are good, others are abysmal. Clubbing elements of all these reality television shows together, Han Jae-rim brings The 8 Show, a brand new Netflix Korea original show that was released on May 17, 2024.

The 8 Show is an eight-episode-long show with a runtime of 35 to 40 minutes each episode.

The respectful dynamic between contestants and addictive storytelling make Physical: 100 & The Devil's Plan must-watch TV.

One of the most successful programs, Physical: 100, debuted in the number two spot on the platform and remained in the top five for a full week. However, another competitive TV show that is the brains to Physical: 100's brawn has flown slightly under the radar despite earning enough fanfare to get a second season, The Devil's Plan.

The Trust: A Game of Greed Puts a Unique Spin on Reality TV
Image
Netflix's new game show, The Trust: A Game of Greed, combines reality TV and competition in a unique and engaging way. The show's premise involves 11 contestants voting to eliminate someone in each episode, with the remaining money split among the remaining cast members. The show focuses on the contestants' personalities and alliances rather than traditional game show dynamics, creating tension and drama throughout the series.

Game shows, and reality TV has become a streaming staple, given their low production value and the use of ordinary people as stars. This has long been the case for Netflix, as they have showcased such absurdities as Is it Cake? and The Floor is Lava, alongside more in-depth competition game shows like Blown Away and The Devil's Plan. Though they may not be the most watched shows on Netflix, these series have proved to be a great success for the platform, with many of them having multiple seasons,...

‘The Devil’s Plan’ Competition Series is Renewed for Season 2
Image
The Devil’s Plan season one featured some of the most challenging and complicated games of any unscripted reality series. 12 contestants used strategy, math skills, and their ability to deceive their fellow The Devil’s Plan participants in a battle for the 250 million won grand prize, with actor Ha Seok-jin ultimately emerging as the winner.

The South Korean reality competition series, described as a game of “wit, strategy, and wisdom,” proved to be incredibly popular on Netflix. The series ranked third on the streaming service’s Top 10 TV Shows (Non-English) list and also made it onto Top 10 lists in 23 countries. And given its viewership (and reasonable budget), it’s no surprise the series has been renewed for season two.

Season one’s contestants included a lawyer, doctor, science YouTuber, professional gamer, and actors. The names and occupations of season two’s competitors haven’t been announced.

Netflix Unveils Slate Of Japanese Dating, Comedy Shows As Part Of Wider Push Into Unscripted Content Across Asia
Image
Netflix has announced a slate of Japanese dating, comedy and reality shows, part of a wider push into Asian unscripted content, which also takes in South Korea and India.

Speaking at a showcase in Seoul, Netflix Japan content manager Dai Ota highlighted the importance of unscripted content in the wider Japan market, accounting for 70% of linear programming in 2022, with sketch comedy, dating and other reality formats among the most popular.
