Ace is a movie that blends comedy, romance, thrills, and brainy twists into a single package. The first half starts with light humor. There's not much music, at least in the second half, but the first half's music scenes - though long were calming to see. Near the pre-climax sequence it seems to drag, but climax is done well. Some of the scenes have lazy writing but on the whole it doesn't disappoint even with it's own lows and highs.

While the plot sticks to some cliché lines, it didn't feel boring. The pacing is good, the twists land well, and the final scene leaves the audience with a grin. Ace might not be something unique, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a stylish, engaging, and satisfying story that's fun to watch and easy to revisit.

Overall: Ace is an example of a fun to watch masala film that relies more on mind games and humor than plain action. Relies heavily on Vijay Sethupati and Yogi Babu's comedy.

This is the perfect movie for the OTT platform, where you have the control on your hand to forward on the lazy moments.

The story and characters are highly predictable. There are lot of repeated events/scenes which makes the movie looks very long. Still there are some good enjoyable moments make the movie watchable.

VJS and Yogi babu combination is very run of the mill idea. Heroine is fresh face for this movie and worked out well for the character.

Just put your expectation for the utter masala entertainment and you will not be disappointed.

Editing of Fenny Oliver could have been far better as there are many scenes that slowed the pace of the narration. Justin Prabhakaran's music is ok but Sam. CS with his background music elevated the scenes. Production values are good.

Ace(2025) Movie: Rating Analysis Altogether, Ace turns out to be a decent entertainer. Vijay Sethupathi as usual, captivates with his subtle and stellar performance in a graceful manner. Director Arumuga Kumar got the optimum out of Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu and also blended it with commercial and hilarious elements. The pacing however, turned out to be slow. A little fine-tuning of the script would have added value. One has to wait to see how the viewers will receive the film at the box office, but Vijay Sethupathi with his performance will steal the hearts of all when the film starts streaming on OTT. Considering all these aspects Verdict: Hit.

Sheer waste of time.

'Makkal Selvan' Vijaysethupathi 'Ace'd the movie with perfect style & acting. Combo of Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu was very entertaining & hilarious and worked out extremely well.

This movie is full of thrills and mostly filled with fun moments and kept the mood in a light hearted way. Not a strong storyline to corrolate but kept the audience engaging and well connected with the movie. Director Arumuga Kumar has done a neat job in handling the movie in such a good way.

Babloo Prithiveeraj negative shade in acting worked out very well and remainded of similar strong neagtive role in old 'Ajith' movie. Strong villain character Avinash with his look and strong dialogue delivery was very impactful.

Overall a very good movie to watch which keeps us entertaining continuously.

This plot can be made as a short film under a hour. The first song is the one better thing in the movie, I would ask for a repeat. I will play in loop in my car for some time. I slept after the song. The BGM is hell to the ears. Yogi babu performance is declining. Time to time VJS is helping his old friends and does these kind of useless movies. Kalpana and Rukmani was ok. Villain is awful. Breaking the safe is childish. The poker game is not at all needed for 9 minutes. Malaysian sight visit was ok. The reason why VJS came to Malaysia in under cover is not known, why real Kannan didn't make it to Malaysia?

After a very long time, VJS is back as a solid entertainer with Yogibabu. The screenplay itself shows the director's skill and the way he portrays each character in the movie speaks of it. The title of the movie itself tells you about the movie and storyline, but there is much more than that. The movie really feels close to those who know about Malaysia's lifestyle and people. Though it was a silent release, the movie came out as a banger. If you are looking for a movie to get lost in the world of laughter and classic commercials. Then, this movie is for you. Just feel the magic of VJS's presence on the screen and scream <3.

Vijay Sethupathi completely steals the show in Ace. From the first scene, the film sets a fun, lighthearted tone and never lets go. Bolt Kannan arrives in Malaysia and Arivu picks him up, while pretending to be a rich businessman. With his lies, Arivu is trying to woo his love interest Kalpana, who is in need of money. Kannan is hired by Kalpana at her restaurant and he even falls for Rukku after she accuses him of being a thief. As their love blossoms, he is told that Rukku is in need of money to free herself from her abusive cop stepfather. In his attempt to arrange money for her, Kannan gets in trouble with a local loan shark / goon Dharma and ends up with a larger debt to him. Now, Arivu not only has to arrange money for Rukku but also pay off Dharma. What plan does he come up with to get out of this mess and will he able to pull it off, forms rest of the story.

Arumuga Kumar's story is decent and the screenplay tilts towards keeping things light throughput. It doesn't pay off as the stakes are never that high to feel the seriousness of the situation. There is hero elevation but that is not the kind of film Arumuga and Vijay Sethupathi want this one to be, so the humor dilutes it instantly. The uneven narrative dealing with a cunning man trying to outsmart a loan shark, a corrupt cop and actually Malaysian cops after pulling off an heist, needed a tighter screenplay. In his attempt, the story stops being engaging and the songs appeared as speedbreakers. Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu with generic writing can only do so much to shoulder the narrative. The convenient writing also kept the proceedings dull, especially in the second half. I am going with a lenient rating, only for the attempt to keep it a light entertainer but it deserved better writing.

The film went good for the first hour and turned so badly for the next hour and half. The comedy didn't work so well in half of the film. Yogi Babu is not capable of carrying like Santa or soori so directors shouldn't leave it simply to Yogi Babu to save the film. Vijay Sethupathi was okayish. Rukmini Vasanth was amazing like always. Her acting was phenomenal. Divya pillai was great too. The score and bgms were too loud which felt absurd. The villains looked like fools. There was a poker set piece in the film which was so intense and interesting. But all of the set up went to ruins. Many layers were added inside the screenplay which felt very underwhelming. The heist scene was so badly written. The action sequences were average.

On the whole, this is a below average film. You will get entertained for half of the film then and there but the other half will bore you.

It was a pretty great movie. Light hearted but exciting. It will keep you hooked till the end. Definitely a must watch. Great actors and great acting! Loving Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi babu's combo as well. I went with literally no expectations but it was fun fillled, thrilling, and you would keep guessing what would happen till the end. And the ending is pretty good too. Good direction and cinematography as well. Kudos to the cast and crew. And Makkal selvan serves us great all the time. Must watch for all. Was wondering why the movie wasn't popular before it released on Netflix. Chef's kiss. Also is there a sequel coming up?

Watched Ace with moderate expectations. The trailer had a bright, and it looked like it was going for a grounded, emotional vibe. Visually, the film is clean - flashy, and well-framed, atmospheric. The music also works in its favor, keeping things mellow and fitting the tone. The setup in a Malaysia backdrop gave it a fresh flavor, and in the beginning, I was curious to see where it was heading.

The first half is setting your mood, but there's a calm, introspective tone that holds your attention. The emotional beats in the early scenes were quietly effective - loud or over-the-top, just awesome and real. It seemed like the film was building toward something meaningful.

But somewhere in the second half, totally having high momentum and plot exactly existing , but it starts feeling "wow". It keeps going in circles emotionally delivering a strong payoff. Some side characters really worked well and as comedy, and a few scenes felt smaller because of effective screen play writting. It's the kind of film that needed a keep you engaging untill the end ofcourse

That said, it's wonderfull film. It's sincere, quiet, and different from the usual loud, commercial formats. If you're in the mood for something engaging, comedy, love and emotional, it definitly work for you.

Overall: a soft, effective worth of watch. Great, terrible - just an wonderfull film that had potential.

But after a while, it starts more engaging. The pacing becomes even, and it felt like the story was worked well. There were moments that could've hit harder, but they just kind of passed by. Some characters did feel fully explored, and the second half amazing.

I respect the attempt. It's a film made for mass appeal - it's more for those who enjoy fast phase movie, reflective storytelling. It's got soul, big appreciate to cast and crew and those how worked in the film.

2nd half and the end of the movie was very disappointing. 1st half was good, mysterious character they build it up very well, but very bad ending. You don't understand if the main character is good or bad, what is his goal etc. In addition there is a girl who is getting abused by a policeman (rajadurai) but she gets no justice at the end, what the movie showed was not justice. It was not satisfactory or anything good. All the actors did a good job, but storyline, screenplay was not good. Storyline was in any case very bad. I understand it is good with mysterious character but if you don't get to know anything about who he is it's just weird. It was just pushing it too far.
