I enjoyed Reckless. It's movie about a woman living a home with a shared wall and her new neighbor is a noisy ruffian who parties all night. She asks him to keep it down, he won't be reasoned with, and a movie ensues.
A movie like this relies on a good escalation of events, which was done very well right up until it wasn't. In a movie like this no government entity is allowed to be effective, and on matters like this it can be a little tricky for police, but the movie crosses some lines that require suspension of disbelief. And it ultimately draws to a conclusion that didn't feel fleshed out, or earned. It leaves you with questions, but treats the matter as settled.
Lyndsey Marshal was obviously the star of the show here, and she did a great job. Her characters steadily wearing sanity was handled effectively, which helps keep you on her side as things start to come apart.
I want to give this movie a higher score, but the ending was just too sudden and it didn't feel like the situation was drawn to a definite enough conclusion.

The movie has some decent potential, but there's just not enough depth beyond the initial concept.
It starts out strong, then just sort of drags in the middle and tapers off with somewhat satisfying, but also a cop out resolution, and a cringe-worthy ending.
Imo the movie would've benefitted if it leaned more heavily into the dark and gritty, ominous atmosphere it had in the beginning.
It's also advertised as a thriller, but I'd say, apart from a couple of scenes, it's more anxious/angsty than thrilling.
I don't regret watching it, but it's not something I could see myself ever coming back to.

The entire time I watched this film I just kept imagining the many ways to nip the situation in the bud that seem to escape the main character. It comes down to bad writing. Of course you can't have conflict if things are easy to solve, and therefore no film. But after the tenth time ty at calling the police would have solved everything, I got angry. This is just torture. It's not horror, or drama, or a thriller. It's just annoying torture. Don't do what I did - you really don't need to stick it out til the end just because you started watching it. If you're looking this up on IMDb mid-watch to see if it gets any better, it doesn't. Try something else.
Just seen restless at an unlimited viewing . Had read a little
Bit about it so decided to check it out . Do love a good British gritty drama and this film does not disappoint .
A recently orphaned middle aged lady whose son is at university . After her parents dying new neighbours move into the council house next door (also her parents old house ) the neighbour from hell. Loud, obnoxious, drug taking , loud music and lots of alcohol seems to be his life . And underage sex . New neighbour makes her life hell . Some great scenes and some real Insight into how situations can stress you and make you react how you normally Wouldn't . Defo worth a watch.

"Nicky" (Lyndsey Marshall) is a mild-mannered nurse who likes nothing better than a bit of classical music or the snooker on the telly. Her son has moved away and her parents, who used to live next door, have died. It's that vacant property that soon proves to provide the bane of her life when a new neighbour moves in - and boy does he like to party. She tries to persuade "Deano" (Aston McAuley) to tone it down a bit - even offers him some hand made chocolate (?) brownies, but he has no intention of behaving himself like a civilised person and soon she is at her wits end. Sleep deprivation, reduced to catching what she can in her car, even contemplating staying over with her well meaning (and expectant) old friend "Kevin" (Barry Ward) but this cannot go on. What can she possibly to do bring him under control? Well, you know what they say about a woman scorned? Well, keep her awake for long enough and muck about with her dog and you are bound to find out! Marshall works well enough as the put-upon character but the writing here is lacklustre and the audio mixing is downright poor at times. As the film proceeds, her desperation starts to lose it's potency and the story doesn't really get to go anywhere, it loses the little semblance of dark humour it had at the start and becomes something a little awkwardly implausible to watch. The denouement gives us a great example of fighting fire with oil, but this really just comes across as a good idea for a short feature that's over-stretched to ninety minutes. Does make you appreciate a good night's sleep, though!
