I'm amazed by what DQ's versatility outside Mollywood. From a business standpoint, Tollywood has been very good with combination of fantastic writing with lead actors from the outside who are bound to sell the film in other sectors.
The writing takes the cake here, a scam film but you need to back the 'bad guy' - can go so wrong but it didn't; the middle class guy in you wants him to win at life. Set design like you'd totally believe that it's from a long time ago. I loved how they put a disclaimer out that said "The film is set in Bombay but the characters will be speaking in Telugu for our primary audience" Simple. That's all you had to do instead of making them speak in horrible forced accents (I hope Jothika and the makers of Kanguva took notes)
While it's based around the Harshad Mehta scam and narrated as a biopic, the way it's written in such a way that this feels like a heist story and it feels thrilling like a heist story should. DQ was amazing and so was the support cast around him. Interesting to see Meenakshi play a role that had some substance vs what she was asked to do in GOAT; good for her.
Is it as mind-blowing as people say it is? Not if you've seen heist movies in the past, but it's a good movie nevertheless; one that you wouldn't want to miss out on.

The ultimate fantasy of an Indian middle-class man. There's really no other way to describe this movie. The story or even the presentation may not be anything new but it is designed to entertain the audience as a total commercial movie even without any action or item songs that are expected out of one, especially from the Telugu industry. Usually, I never choose to watch a dubbed movie, but Dulquer being a Malayali and the almost 60% or something dialogues in the movie coming from him helped make it not feel too much of a dubbed movie and didn't make me regret not traveling a 100 km to watch in the original Telugu language. When it is well made, movies like this that touch a chord with the middle-class struggle and show where they can reach from there will always work with the audience. But it's also good to remember this is all a fantasy because most are not Lucky Baskhars and even when some get lucky like that, they end up more like Harshad Mehta.
If there are massy movies in the Telugu industry, there are also movies like this one that, for a change, arrest you in your seat.
A simple cashier working at a bank starts rolling money into risky investment schemes, only to get addicted to it. How his life gets embroiled in the world of money laundering while managing his family forms the crux of the story.
Set in the 90s, the tale runs parallel to the Harshad Mehta era, which lends credibility to its fictional portrayal. The story balances emotions and financial intricacies in the right measure. What works best is that the movie is written in such a simple manner that, even without spoon-feeding, viewers can fully grasp the financial terms. With all the fraudulent acts the lead attempts to pull off, you are bound to sit on the edge of your seat with bated breath. The narrative takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, navigating the character's highs and lows.
Dulquer Salmaan completely embodies the character. This simple-looking yet layered role is made believable through his honest portrayal. For the superstar that he is and given his relatively young age, it is commendable how he adapts to playing an older man with grey hair and a young child. Meenakshi Chaudhary, despite limited screen time, provides solid support. Every small or big character plays their part brilliantly.
To recreate the 90s, the art department has done a commendable job, making the setting look authentic. The BGM and songs enhance the overall aura of the film. The climactic twist is something you won't see coming, and it works big time. Special mention must go to the costume designer for making Venky Alturi's world feel real.
This film truly deserves your time, and you can be sure that you will be thoroughly entertained. It's a movie with a strong plot, solid performances, and thrilling moments-everything you've been looking for.

One of the best movie that is made, not only the story , acting also above expected , dq deed his role seamlessly that he can easily do , that already we seen it. Everything was up to mark that's why we as audience loved it , if you look at thrilling ness, that also perfect , we don't feel it 2 and half hour movie , movie gone like a rockect , don not miss it , its a must theatrical watch movie , if you are a movie fan , then you should watch it , if you are a dulquer fan then you will be athe top of the world experience , his charm , his t=screen presence , his dialogue delivery , in any where i thought its a malayalam dubbed movie , dubbing was perfect and up to the mark.
- Lucky Baskhar directed by Venky Atluri starring Dulquer Salmaan is a brillaint and engaging ride from start to finish. Dulquer Salmaan and the score by GVP are undoubtedly the main highlights of the film. They carried the film throughout. The film is excellent from a technical standpoint and also with the performances. Dulquer Salmaan potrayed the character of Baskhar brilliantly , he made the audience connect with the character and we went on a journey with him. The score by GVP is also the other highlight elevating every scene and making it worthy for a theatre experience. The film is also good visually with the cinematography of Nimish Ravi. The film has an engaging and fast paced screenplay which enhanced the overall experience. The editing work and camera work is also great. Overall, I loved this film. I watched the malayalam dub version and I didn't have any complaints with it , it was great. I also watched it with a good crowd and there was hooting and cheering throughout the film and that is another thing I liked about the film , the mass moments were organic and not forced. Brillaint direction by Venky Atluri. Great Watch.
