I think many of the low ratings in these reviews are people who don't like her politics, or they are so uptight they don't like shocking, cutting edge, daring comedy.
I love it. Sarah has perfected her timing and she's so funny because she dares to go past safe boring jokes to lines that would fail miserably if delivery was attempted by a less talented comic.
I look forward to her next routine, and will certainly watch everything else I can, just because there are other mainstream comics out there that are just BORING.
Maybe I like the risky comedy that goes a bit over the line, and this sort of critique of society isn't what many people enjoy - but I just can't see how comedy can get much better than this - but everybody is not the same - and I guess these jokes make some people uncomfortable. Too bad for them.

I think Sarah Silverman is very funny and I like her very much. She is smart and insightful and she was on the cutting edge of pushing the boundaries of open sexuality in female comics. She has a great history of very funny and sexy stand up comedy. Her latest stand up special, "Someone You Love" is just not that funny. It has some good commentary on religion, social issues, and politics; however, it is just not as funny as I am used to with Silverman. I would still watch it if you are a fan of hers, and of stand up, in general, but not her best performance, for sure. I felt the best description is "low energy".
Back in the day, Sarah had this incredible ability to catch us off guard with her sharp wit. She would have us in stitches, never knowing what hilarious remark she would come up with next. But now, it's like she's lost her comedic mojo and is stuck on autopilot. It's like watching a rerun of a tired sitcom you've seen a million times before.
You know the jokes before she does... "But there are Nazis", "All Jewish mothers are proud", "I have a gay friend and we might've scissored but not really, or did we, no we didn't". It's just tired and gross, but not gross enough to move into the really offensive (Where comedic gold is mined), it was safe. No effort to push any boundaries, just completely safe and predictable.
Some comedians are funny only in reaction to others, I could imagine her on 8 out 10 cats does countdown, or raising money for leukaemia patients, perhaps if she performed her set for the west-borough baptist's she could eek out a chuckle.

I can tell you that back in the day, when I'd see her around, she was one of my favorites. I was a kid then though. I remember being super impressed when she was on Star Trek Voyager. Honestly though she kind of fell of the radar for me since the 90s. I didn't even realize she was still around until she hosted the Daily Show. I made it a point to watch all the ones she did and they were great. Took me a little while to get to this, but it was entertaining. She's still pretty good. Not as many laugh out loud moments as I recall from back in the day, nothing so groundbreaking, but the jokes all land and her stage persona is still really likeable. I'd give this a watch if you were ever a fan. 8/10.

After decades of performing stand-up comedy, Sarah Silverman's comedic timing is awesome. She is so intelligent, and this intelligence comes through in the way she crafts and presents her humor.
Yes, it is a presentation for adults and some of her humor and/or language may offend you, but that humor is thought provoking besides being very funny.
I admire her originality and the way she uses the English language. When she said that the title of her memoir will be "My Struggle" and that she can just see the surprised faces of some of the buyers when it is translated into German, she made me laugh out loud.
Rarely, have I enjoyed an hour of stand-up comedy so much. I look forward to seeing her next special.
This special is titled, "Someone you love." Yes, I do.
