'Musiek vir die Agtergrong' is a melodic soft rock infused film that will appeal to most aspiring musicians. The film plays with your emotions like a musician composing a new song.

This is a beautiful, inspirational film. I found John-Henry Opperman particularly good as a struggling musician, Paul, looking for the big break. Being a down to earth guy, the transition from ordinary guy to star is a rather daunting process - one he wasn't quite ready for. (Oh, and a tip for guys, think before making babies!!!). The film effectively illustrates how success changes one's life. It also gives a good insight into how the music industry operates.

What annoyed me tremendously, was the fact that the film is in Afrikaans, with Afrikaans characters (and actors), yet every now and again the characters would switch between Afrikaans and English. This is not normal behavior and I found it distracting. I also found Paul's girlfriend, Sera, incredibly annoying. She was selfish, ungrateful and in general just not a nice character. So much so that I was hoping they would break up. Integrity or not...

Brumilda van Rensburg was very good - as usual, as was Neil Sandilands. I just love this guy! It is interesting the way the film turned out. Not what I expected. It tied up very nicely, though. And remember to follow your dream...
