Director Paula Ortiz cares immensely about the artistry of the shots and takes, that's why the cast usually had to act through adverse or unpleasant environment conditions. For example, the scene when the bride sings "la Tarara" was filmed in the middle of the desert of Los Monegros at 5 a.m. Actors also had to deal with strong wind (cierzo), blinding light or mosquitoes, or even against the clock filming when the scenes happened at sunset.
Acress Inma Cuesta, singed la Tarara a capella in the wedding after-party scene, needing no special effects or arrangements to her voice.
Spanish investment turned out to be insufficient to accomplish the project director Paula Ortiz had in mind; therefore, she sought out potential places for the film to be set. Wanting to remain faithful to the Mediterranean atmosphere of Federico García Lorca's play, she chose Cappadocia in Turkey, which had volunteer to become an investor in the film.
Some scenes of La novia (2015) (La novia) were filmed in Northeastern region of Spain, Aragón (in the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca), infamous for its powerful wind pattern (100-160 km/h) called "cierzo." While saying their lines, the actors had to withstand the impact of this wind on their faces, making it quite hard to hear themselves or to concentrate when in the most emotional scenes. This, however, can barely be noticeable in the outcome of the movie.
Some parts of the movie were filmed in Capadoccia, Turkey. However, not all of the cast was able to fly there --- this is why a stunt actor was used instead of Álex García in the scenes he is seen riding a horse through the desert.
