David Corenswet's Superman may be the star of James Gunn's Superman, but he's not the writer-director's favorite character. Instead, that honor falls upon the alien-like creature, Mr. Handsome, who was shown controlling the hovercraft used inside Lex Luthor's artificial pocket universe.
In a new post on X, Gunn revealed that Mr. Handsome was his favorite character in the DC Universe movie. As part of this post, the filmmaker also shared how exactly Mr. Handsome, was was created specifically for Superman and is unrelated to the DC Comics character of the same name, came to exist within the Dcu. "When people ask me my favorite character from [Superman] it just might be Mr. Handsome. Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 - he was trying to make a human. As James Gunn’s Superman surges to more than $22 million in box office previews (along with a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes), the filmmaker reportedly is looking ahead to the possibility of at least two TV spinoffs.
Gunn is considering TV spinoffs for Superman characters such as Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific and Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen, according to a report Thursday night in the Wall Street Journal.
Gunn already has Season 2 of Peacemaker, from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, set to release on August 21. And his series Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, is in post for premiere sometime in 2026.
In a recent Q&a with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn gave an update on Paradise Lost, saying it “is moving along. It’s slow-moving, but it’s moving.” He also mentioned another TV show “that’s my favorite thing in all of this, that is hopefully getting made soon.

Superman director James Gunn has stated that his decision to make The Engineer a henchman for Lex Luthor stemmed from a desire to introduce the audience to the world of Wildstorm and its characters.
Speaking to BlavityTV, Gunn stated that he also just thought Angela Spicer's powers were just cool and felt they would be a good matchup for Superman.
"I just really liked The Engineer's powerset and I liked taking elements of The Authority's story- she's a member of The Authority in the comics- and giving those elements to Lex Luthor, to really combine the Wildstorm and DC characters in the Dcu. And I thought her powerset was good to fight Superman."
A follow-up question was then asked about whether The Authority movie was still happening and whether the Engineer would appear, to which Gunn replied, "We could for sure, it could happen," in a somewhat evasive manner. "It's...

“Superman” releases in just over two weeks, and the marketing campaign for the film continues in overdrive. Today, James Gunn released an image of “Ultraman,” presumably one of the film’s primary villains — but fans are still wondering who’s under the mask.
Gunn shared a close-up of the villain in-costume on his X account, simply captioning the image “Ultraman.” Though the superpowered threat has been present since the first official teaser for “Superman,” this reveal gives us by far the best look at the character to date.

While many depictions grant Superman a nearly indestructible suit — whether by an extension of his powers or a perk of Kryptonian fabric — Ultraman’s uniform clearly lacks the same quality. The image highlights just how ratty Ultraman’s costume truly is, with cracked goggles and fabric actively falling off the mask. It’s a disturbing look,...

Superman flies into theaters in less than a month, and James Gunn's new movie is expected to be a box office triumph. Starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, the film is visually and tonally influenced by Christopher Reeve's tenure as the character (beginning with Superman in 1978 and ending with Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1987). But, Gunn's Superman will have more in common with Reeve's beloved films than fans initially thought. As well as pulling from the vast library of DC Comics, including All-Star Superman, Gunn is also following the trend of Superman pulling from another major sci-fi franchise: Star Wars.
According to the outlet Universo DC Nauta (via @homeofdcu), the opening scene of James Gunn's Superman will be heavily inspired by George Lucas' Star Wars. As the first movie in the new Dcu, Superman will have a lot of contextual establishing to do,...

With three weeks left to go, James Gunn and DC Studios’ Superman is tracking to open in the $135 million range at the domestic box office.
If that forecast is right, Superman would land high up on the list of DC openings, although it would lag well behind the $166 million domestic debut of 2016’s Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice, not adjusted for inflation. At the same time, it would come in safely ahead of the last solo Superman movie, Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel ($116 million).
Opinion, however, is sharply divided as to just how high Superman can fly.
The $135 million stat is from leading tracking service the National Research Group, according to sources with access to the data. Nrg always provides a range in addition to a solo number; in this case, the range for Superman’s domestic opening is $125 million to $145 million.

A brand new episode of the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast has just dropped, featuring two exciting guests from the upcoming Superman film: Edi Gathegi, who plays Mister Terrific, and María Gabriela de Faría, cast as The Engineer, an associate of Lex Luthor.
During his appearance, Edi Gathegi clarified a key detail about Mister Terrific's iconic "T-mask," confirming that it's not paint, but rather made of nanotechnology. This aligns with the comic book portrayal, where Mister Terrific's entire costume often forms from millions of nanotech bots released from his T-spheres.
Gathegi also shared insights into how he developed his portrayal of Michael Holt (Mister Terrific). He initially approached the role with a clear idea formed during his screen test. However, once filming began, the collaborative process led to a more nuanced and intricate performance. "I didn't know what was going to happen until we did it," Gathegi revealed. "I had...

After my young daughter goes to bed, my wife and I have been watching Andor and enjoying it like the rest of the fanbase. But before we tuck her in, Brooklyn and I still have to finish watching Star Wars Resistance. For me, it's a break from the dramatic storyline displayed in Andor, and I can enjoy the continued storyline that can teach Brooklyn valuable lessons.
In the fifth episode, "The Engineer," Brooklyn had many observations, mostly about her favorite female characters. One note she pointed out is that Synara San is clearly a better shooter than Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono. She lights up anytime Synara is seen in an episode. In probably the biggest hot take, Brooklyn thinks the ball female droid, Cb-23, is cuter than Bb-8. She has not said why, other than she likes the girl droid's colors and the noises Cb makes.

She had been part of the series from the start, appearing in its first four seasons. The news came in 2016, catching her off guard just days before the episode was set to film.

It's that time of the week again, where we gush about Silo and go over all the latest twists and turns from Apple TV+'s hit science fiction series. "The Book of Quinn" is the eighth out of 10 episodes for the season, and as such it spends a fair amount of time setting up the endgame. It's great as usual, but this episode does feel a little bit more like it's treading water as it moves pieces into place for the big finish.
But hey, every show needs a breather, and it's a credit to Silo that even when it's taking one, it's got enough going on to keep minds bending and butts on the edge of seats. To top it all off, we finally learn some details about Salvador Quinn, the former head of It whose writings have tantalized Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and his new shadow Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) all season.

Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" is a modest family drama about Faustian pacts, mysterious puzzle boxes that summon demons, and a wicked stepmother who smooches her skinless brother-in-law in a basement. It also paved the way for an ambitious franchise that's traveled everywhere from New York to outer space. Granted, some poorly received sequels have resulted in the "Hellraiser" movies ranking all over the pleasure and pain scale, but the series still has such sights to show us. The fifth film, "Hellraiser: Inferno," also marked Scott Derrickson's directorial debut, but the project was different before the future Marvel filmmaker took over.
The "Hellraiser" direct-to-video sequels don't have the best reputation among horror fans, as most of them are low-budget afterthoughts that were churned out so Miramax could retain the rights to the franchise. That said, "Inferno" is a compelling noir-inspired...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episodes 1-3!Silo season 2, episode 3, "Solo," provides clues to suggest that Juliette Nichols and the installment's title character are not alone in Silo 17, but there could be another explanation to account for these teases. Although Steve Zahn's Solo has been part of the Silo cast since the current season's premiere, his emergence from the vault at the end of Silo season 2, episode 3, is the first time the character has been fully shown. Now that Rebecca Ferguson's character has a more solid companion, the story can turn to whether or not they have unknown company too.
Silo's intriguing premise makes it a brilliant addition to Apple TV+'s library of sci-fi shows. The story's recent continuation picks up immediately after the end of Silo season 1, allowing for a seamless transition between the two batches of episodes. After stumbling into an identical Silo due...

The third episode of Apple TV+'s sci-fi show Silo is out now, and it's a doozy. The first season ended with a huge shake-up as Sheriff Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) left the titular undergound Silo and set out into the wider world, only to discover that it was a wasteland. By necessity, season 2 has had to take a lot of time to re-establish the chess board following those events. The first episode, "The Engineer," was all about Juliette's journey into a neighboring Silo, where she found the last survivor of a rebellion that caused the deaths of thousands. The second, "Order," caught us up with everyone Juliette left behind, showing how her home Silo was turning into a powder keg as people demanded answers and the powers-that-be manipulated events to keep things calm.
In "Solo," Silo is finally able to represent all these plotlines and more onscreen in one episode.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episodes 1 & 2!With Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols left stranded in an almost-vacant structure, it may seem as though it'll be very difficult for her to make it home in Silo season 2, but there's actually a very simple way she can pull it off. Of course, it all depends on whether Juliette actually wants to go back to Silo 18. That being said, it would be a little unusual if she never went back to spread the word about Silo's heat tape twist and the even greater dangers posed by a potential rebellion.
Ferguson's return to lead the Silo cast is a little different this time around. By the end of Silo season 1, Juliette had appeared in every episode of the Apple TV+ show. However, Silo season 2's story has produced at least one episode where Ferguson basically doesn't feature. As such, the current run...

Silo season 2 is back with another episode on Apple TV+. If the premiere episode was all about Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols, then "Order" is about everybody else. The season's second episode brings us back to the original Silo, where we get to see how its residents are dealing now that Juliette has left. They don't know what happened to her — the last anyone saw of Juliette, she was walking over the hill outside the Silo and disappearing into the distance — but they do know that it changes their entire worldview, which hinges on people not being able to survive outside long enough to climb that hill.
This is a big episode with a lot of characters at play, so let's get right into it. There will be Spoilers for "Order" in this review.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer."Apple TV+'s Silo is filled with little teases that suggest what will happen in the coming episodes while also compounding recent events, and season 2's premiere includes a music moment that ticks both boxes. With Rebecca Ferguson back to lead the Silo cast as Juliette Nichols, the dystopian sci-fi story continues the mysterious tale of the remnants of humanity clinging to existence on the surface of a devastated Earth. Beginning immediately after the events of Silo season 1's ending, Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer," also leaves things open-ended, but not all that unclear either.
The ending of Silo season 2, episode 1, has a surprising amount of dialogue, considering the rest of the installment's present-day sequences are carried by an impressive physical performance from Ferguson. Without the flashbacks, "The Engineer" would be almost void of spoken sentiment. However, the deluge of words...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer."Apple TV+'s Silo engages in some very compelling forms of worldbuilding tied to its post-apocalyptic setting, including how and why Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols was the only character able to withstand the unforgiving environment of the outside world. The popular show “Silo” on Apple TV+ is back with a second season, following an 18-month break. The first episode of the 10-episode season of the science fiction thriller, about survivors living in a huge underground bunker, aired on Friday.
Based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of books, the show continues to look at the lives of 10,000 people stuck in a structure a mile deep after a mysterious world disaster. The new season picks up where the last one left off, focused on Rebecca Ferguson’s character Juliette Nichols, who has left the safety of the silo.
Ferguson’s action skills are shown in the first episode of the season, “The Engineer,” where her character deals with the dangerous outside world. Inside the silo, the people who still live there are thinking about what will happen now that she’s gone and how that might affect their tightly controlled society.

In the season 2 premiere (episode 1) of Silo, titled The Engineer, we find Juliette finally realising what’s outside the world that she has known thus far. As she navigates her new, lonely identity with the other Silo’s abandoned interior reminding her of the humble beginnings in her own habitat, we are drawn closer to her character than ever before. The first episode serves as a great character development exercise that will help us follow our protagonist along for what lies ahead. While overall uneventful, I really enjoyed how season 2 does not feel like its in a rush to establish a new order, a new mystery and a new path to rebellion just yet. In the following article we will take a detailed look at the first episode of the new season.

This week, the hit science fiction series Silo returns on Apple TV+. Based on the book series by Hugh Howey, Silo tells the story of the last 10,000 people alive on a desolate future Earth, who live in a massive underground bunker; the titular Silo.
But are they really the last people? That question looms large as Silo kicks off its second season. The first season ended with sheriff Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) leaving the Silo to see what lies above ground. Thanks to improvements in her environment suit, she's actually able to leave her old home behind. But what she finds on the surface isn't what she expects. Although the powers that be in the Silo told a lot of lies, it turns out the surface actually is a hellscape that can't support human life.
The first season ended with a wide shot that revealed the existence of other Silos.

James Gunn revealed that the Man of Steel’s trusty, four-legged sidekick will be making his way to the big screen in Superman.
While Krypto the Superdog wasn’t originally set to be in the film, Gunn explained that he adopted a pup named Ozu shortly after he began writing the script, and it inspired Krypton’s inclusion in the upcoming project starring David Corenswet.
“Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least,” the writer-director wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture – he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him.”
Gunn continued, “I remember thinking, ‘Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?’ – and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of...

Quick Links Snowpiercer Season 4 Unites Wilford and Layton Snowpiercer Season 4 Gives Layton Unpredictable Threats
The following contains major spoilers from Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 6, "Bell the Cat," which debuted Aug. 25 on AMC.
Trust is hard to come by in Snowpiercer Season 4. Usually, one would expect Daveed Diggs' Andre Layton to be a wholesome leader who has everyone's support. But he is jeopardizing Big Alice, as well as the New Eden colony. That's understandable, as he just wants his kidnapped daughter, Liana, back from the International Peacekeeping Forces (Ipf).
Layton is acting reckless, however, which is why Ruth starts to wonder if he is still reliable. In a final season packed to the gills with twists and turns, a deadly new alliance begins. It's designed to help Layton, but when reconciling all variables in play, it puts his mission in danger.

The following contains major spoilers for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 6, "Bell the Cat," which debuted Sunday, August 25 on AMC. It also contains discussion of torture.
When Snowpiercer reintroduced Joseph Wilford in Season 4, Episode 5, "The Engineer," the AMC series had a lot of explaining to do. Not only had Wilford been presumed dead by the audience, but the character's return muddled Season 4's entire story. Season 4, Episode 6, "Bell the Cat," acts as the writers explaining to viewers exactly what they were going for -- and detailing exactly where the rest of the season (and show) is going.
That exposition is both a positive and a negative for the fans. On one hand, "Bell the Cat" finally provides a lot of important information that the season has needed. On the other hand, it rarely stops feeling like an explainer. And when it does, it's because there's something either strange or unsettling -- or both -- going on.
