Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi Spinoff Rebuilds The Jedi Order On Disney+
Image
There's a new Star Wars spinoff in development, and the executive producer revealed why this story in particular is coming to Disney+ after making some very tough decisions. The Star Wars franchise has spawned numerous films and TV shows over the years.

The launch of Disney+ in 2019 gave producers and writers the freedom to create even more stories than fans wouldn't have seen otherwise.

The streaming service launched live-action shows like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka, The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew. The franchise has also debuted multiple animated series, including The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Visions, Star Wars Tales and Young Jedi Adventures, as...

Iconic Star Wars Prop Sets an Eye-Watering Record at Auction
Image
In the Star Warsuniverse, one of the most well-known symbols is the lightsaber. Now, a lucky bidder has taken home one of the iconic red lightsabers used in the original Star Wars movies.

Propstore, which specializes in selling screen-used film props, recently auctioned off a lightsaber used by Darth Vader in two of the three original trilogy films. According to Deadline, the prop sold for a record $3.6 million at Propstore’s recent auction. The saber sold for $2.9 million plus a $700,000 buyer's premium paid to the auction house.

The saber sold at auction was used by Darth Vader in duels in the films The Empire Strikes Back (1980)and The Return of...

Clayface... The Musical? Tom Rhys Harries' Matt Hagen Dances And Makes Shadow Puppets In Latest Set Videos
Image
As production continues on DC Studios' Clayface in Liverpool, England, these latest photos and video from the set have left people wondering what exactly could be going on in the scenes being filmed.

The video shows star Tom Rhys Harries out and about in Gotham's fair city as Matt Hagen, dancing on the steps of the courthouse to Fred Astaire's rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight" from the movie Swing Time. A large spotlight is shining directly on the pillars, and Harries can be seen making shadow puppets.

A cardboard cutout of the original Nosferatu was also spotted, with the vampire's unmistakable silhouette cast on the building.

'The Conjuring 4' Box Office Projections Look Scary Good for Warner Bros.
Image
The Conjuring: Last Rites is projected to give Warner Bros. another number one movie during its opening weekend, and scare some life back into the box office following some disappointing Labor Day returns.

The fourth film in the mainline franchise, Last Rites sees Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as the Warrens in what is being billed as the final entry in theConjuringUniverse, which also includes spinoffs such as the Nun and Annabelle films. The Conjuring movies have been a consistently profitable franchise for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros., to put it mildly; like a lot of horror movies, they don't require a significant budget to produce, but tend to open big.

Clayface Set Photos Reveal Close-Up Look At Matt Hagen's Bloody, Broken Face
Image
We've seen Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen under bandages and a mask, and these latest photos from the Liverpool set of Clayface give us a closer look at the bloody and broken face of the man who will ultimately transform into the shape-shifting Batman villain.

It looks like the Gotham City gangster, believed to be Jimmy "Red" McCoy (possibly on orders from Roland Daggett), really did a number on Hagen's face.

How will Hagen go from what we see below to the monstrous Clayface?

The story will reportedly "center on an ascending actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, the actor turns to...

Clayface Set Photos And Videos May Reveal First Look At The Dcu Movie's Main Villain
Image
As filming continues on the Liverpool set of DC Studios' Clayface, these latest photos and video might just reveal a first look at the movie's main villain - though we have no idea who he is or which actor is playing him!

Previous set photos highlighted the cover of the Gotham Gazette, with the headline informing us that Jimmy "Red" McCoy was under investigation. This low-level Batman baddie always seemed unlikely to be the main antagonist, but the bald, well-dressed fella seen walking down the courtroom steps with a lady on his arm could be.

According to Nexus Point News writer Apocalyptic Horseman, some "big-names" were offered this role, but he doesn't recognize this actor,...

If Andor Had Stuck To Its Original 5-Season Roadmap, The Emperor Would Have Appeared
Image
Did Andor resonate with Star Wars fans because it didn't emphasize Force users or would it have fared as well if it featured Jedi and Sith characters in the main cast?

That's somewhat of a hot debate among the Star Wars fandom as those in support of the former notion also cite The Mandalorian as another prime example.

Lucasfilm also seems to be leaning towards that notion as its next Star Wars film with Ryan Gosling is also said to eschew the traditional Jedi/Sith conflict.

No matter which side of the argument you fall on, Andor is one of the most decorated and well-received Star Wars projects of the modern era,...

Clayface Set Photos Reveal First Look At Max Minghella And Minor The Batman Connection
Image
It's day two of filming on DC Studios' Clayface, and these latest photos and video from the Liverpool set give us a first look at one of the movie's others lead actors shooting his scenes.

Max Minghella plays John, a Gotham City detective who becomes suspicious of his fiancé Caitlin's relationship with Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries).

Naomi Ackie plays Caitlin Bates, a biotech CEO who treats Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries) after he's left disfigured by a mobster. Despite what some social media accounts are reporting, Ackie is not the actress Minghella is speaking to in these shots.

The photos also reveal that this film will use the...

Alden Ehrenreich's Conditions for Returning as Young Han Solo

Solo: A Star Wars Story star Alden Ehrenreich reveals what it would take for him to return as a young Han Solo. Directed by Ron Howard, the 2018 Star Wars prequel movie chronicles Han's origins as a smuggler and how he met figures like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian.

Solo was a notable disappointment critically and commercially, grossing just $392 million worldwide. Ehrenreich has gone on to appear in other notable films, including the acclaimed Oppenheimer (2023) and this summer's Weapons (2025), but he has not yet returned as the legendary Star Wars smuggler.

During a recent interview with Collider, Ehrenreich reflects on his time as Han Solo, speaking about how important it is to work in a supportive environment,...

Clayface Set Photos Reveal Movie's Logo, Joker Reference, & New Cast Member - Possible Spoilers
Image
Filming is now officially underway on DC Studios' Clayface, and we have some new photos and a video from the Liverpool set.

Possible plot spoilers follow.

The video shows a crowd gathered outside the entrance to Gotham General, as a patient on a stretcher is rushed inside. One of the photos also features a man with bandages around his head, who may or may not be Tom Rhys Harries (or his stand-in) as Matt Hagen.

Even if it's a different character altogether, there's a good chance this scene focuses on Hagen being attended to after suffering the "accident" that will ultimately lead to his Clayface transformation.

Clayface Set Photos Reveal First Look At One Of The Dcu Movie's Villains & (Possibly) Clayface Himself

Though cameras don't seem to be rolling just yet, production crews are in the process of setting up to begin shooting DC Studios' Clayface movie in Liverpool, England, and these latest set photos come with some intriguing first-looks.

The cover of the Gotham Gazette reveals that Jimmy "Red" McCoy will appear in the movie. McCoy was a low-level Batman baddie back in the day, and is highly unlikely to be the main villain. This Year's Long-Awaited Sci-fi Sequel Was Shut Down and Delayed for 14 Years Due to 'Star Wars'
Image
It has been fifteen years since the release of Tron: Legacy, and fans are finally getting a follow-up in the form of Tron: Ares. While not the sequel some fans might have hoped for, as stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde are not returning, Ares is a loose continuation. That said, screenwriter David Digilio was hired to write a direct follow-up to Legacy back in 2011. He even maintains a story by credit on Ares, as he created the titular character, originally a villain, but now the protagonist of the new film.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Digilio spoke about the long road to getting a third Tron movie to the big screen.

Matt Smith is once again linked to Star Wars, but this time he’s being careful about not saying much, at this point at least. At the New York premiere of Caught Stealing, Entertainment Tonight caught up with him for a quick chat.

Of course, Smith was asked about House of the Dragon season 3, as well as the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter. Earlier this month, it was reported that he would be joining the cast alongside already-announced Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth. It's believed Smith will play a villain.

Star Wars: Rey Returns in Surprising Last Jedi Sequel After 6 Years

A new Audible story, set after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will tell the first new Rey story in six years. The sequel trilogy era has been largely unexplored since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's release in 2019, with recent comics finally telling Kylo Ren's story between The Last Jedi and his death. Now, Rey is about to get the same treatment.

Lucasfilm Press has announced a new Star Wars audiobook, "The Jaws of Jakku," which will release on Audible on October 9. Written by Cavan Scott and featuring narration by Helen Sadler, it's set in the immediate aftermath of The Last Jedi. Here's the official synopsis:

Oscar Isaac Open To Star Wars Return As Poe Dameron Under One Condition
Image
Oscar Isaac has revealed what it would take for him to return to Star Wars as Poe Dameron. Although the Star Wars sequel trilogy proved divisive, there's no denying that it introduced compelling new characters for the next generation, some of whom never got the chance to live up to their full potential.

One such character is Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, a fiercely talented Resistance pilot with a mysterious past and a close relationship with General Leia Organa. After Poe's misguided mutiny in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the character was somewhat sidelined in the Star Wars sequel trilogy's final installment, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as the focus shifted to Rey,...

5 Years After ‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ Oscar Isaac Reverses His Stance on a Star Wars Return

For years, Oscar Isaac has made it clear he wasn’t eager to revisit a galaxy far, far away. After wrapping the sequel trilogy in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the actor has insisted that his days of piloting an X-wing were firmly behind him. Yet in a new interview, Isaac seems to have had a change of heart, and has left the door of possibility cracked open for the future. When asked directly about reprising his role as the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, Isaac leaned into humor, borrowing from The Simpsons with a high-pitched quip: “I’m a Star Wars.” Then, more earnestly, he followed his comments with a stance-reversing admission: “Yeah,...

Star Wars' Oscar Isaac Gives Promising Update on Potential Poe Dameron Return

Oscar Isaac is open to playing Poe Dameron again. The Star Wars actor recently outlined what it would take for him to consider returning to a galaxy far, far away as the fan-favorite character.

In a joint interview for Variety with his Frankenstein co-star Jacob Elordi, Isaac addressed a potential return to the Star Wars galaxy, jokingly stating (in a high-pitched child's voice), "I'm a Star Wars," a line he borrowed from The Simpsons. The actor then got serious, admitting that he's not opposed to a Star Wars return, but that he'd only do it "if there was something good to do with that." The actor added that he only...

Why Jake Johnson Couldn't Return For Jurassic World Dominion
Image
Despite now encompassing more movies than the original "Jurassic Park" film trilogy, the "Jurassic World" franchise hasn't been quite as successful at establishing memorable characters. That's no shade to Chris Pratt or Bryce Dallas Howard, who do a fine job playing Owen Grady and Claire Dearing through the first three "Jurassic World" movies. It's simply true that those characters and the films' supporting players haven't entered the cinematic pantheon the way that Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) have. Need proof? Just look at how many classic "Jurassic Park" characters got brought back over the course of the initial "Jurassic World" trilogy, as if the newcomers in those movies couldn't carry the weight of their blockbuster budgets on their own.

To be sure, though, there have been some standout supporting performances in these films, most of them from 2015's "Jurassic World.

John Boyega Thought The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Had A Different Plan For Finn And Rey
Image
One of the biggest cautionary tales of the last decade regarding blockbuster filmmaking is the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy. Undoubtedly, the most polarizing franchise films of the 2010s, Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, remain a major point of contention for fans of George Lucas' galaxy far, far away. Many would agree that, as individual films, the sequels may have their standout moments, but do not work cohesively as a three-film story due to a lack of planning amongst the creatives involved.

Basically, the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy was a game of telephone with each entry, with J.J. Abrams setting up the foundation, only for Rian Johnson to answer back with "The Last Jedi" -- arguably the most divisive blockbuster of the century so far. Although Johnson was originally set to pass the torch to Colin Trevorrow, the "Jurassic World" director dropped out due to creative differences, which led to Abrams'...

Image
John Boyega has previously described how disappointed he was with Finn's arc in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Now, Boyega has spoken about where he expected Finn's storyline to go in the sequels.

Appearing at Fan Expo Boston, via Screen Rant, he explained he expected Finn and Rey to end up enemies eventually like Obi-Wan and Anakin, saying, “I think I assumed [Finn] was Force-sensitive from The Force Awakens script or at least by the time I got to the end of The Force Awakens script. I thought they were planning dual Jedis. I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines."

Finn ended up having storylines that took him away from Rey, while Rey trained with Luke Skywalker and ended up battling Palpatine. The final movie of the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,...

John Boyega's Original Vision for Finn's Star Wars Journey
Image
Star Wars star John Boyega explains what he expected from Finn's story, and it's very different from what audiences ended up getting. Released in 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens marked a new era for the franchise, introducing a host of new characters alongside some familiar favorites.

Boyega's Finn, a defecting stormtrooper, joins forces with Daisy Ridley's Rey and Oscar Isaac's Poe in The Force Awakens, eventually becoming a crucial ally in the fight against Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Though there were teases in the 2015 film that Finn is Force-sensitive, this didn't play a big role in the subsequent movies, and his arc remains divisive.

During a recent interview with ScreenRant's Liz Declan at Fan Expo Boston, Boyega reveals that he thought Finn would have a more Jedi-oriented story following The Force Awakens. The actor explains that he thought the teases featured in...

Hayden Christensen Is Ready For Another Anakin Skywalker Return In Star Wars
Image
As Hayden Christensen prepares for his return in Ahsoka season 2, he is considering another return to Star Wars. After playing Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy from 2002 to 2005, Christensen reappeared on-screen in Ahsoka season 1, haunting his Padawan from beyond the grave, and he is set to reappear in the next season.

Having been involved in the Star Wars universe for over 20 years, Christensen has become a critical star of the franchise. His return in Ahsoka was surprising, though it came after cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While he will appear in Ahsoka season 2, Disney has not announced another opportunity for the actor.

While speaking at a panel at Fan Expo Boston for which Screen Rant was in attendance, Christensen expressed his excitement about the prospect of reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker once more. The decision is not Christensen's to make, as it...

Gina Carano settles lawsuit with Disney; Will she return to the Star Wars universe?
Gina Carano
Gina Carano played Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, but after making a few controversial statements, Disney ditched the actress, prompting her to file a lawsuit against the studio alleging wrongful termination and discrimination. The trial was due to start in September, but that won’t happen as Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company have reached a mutual agreement in their legal dispute with the actress.

“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” reads a statement from the studios. “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.

Star Wars: After Being Eyed To Play Palpatine In Episode IX, Matt Smith's Starfighter Role Has Been Revealed
Image
A couple of days ago, the news broke that Matt Smith had been cast in a villainous role in Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter. The actor was eyed to play a young Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, prompting many fans to wonder whether Darth Sidious might return...again.

Fortunately, Lucasfilm isn't heading in that direction and, according to Jeff Sneider's latest newsletter (via SFFGazette.com), Smith's character will be neither a Sith nor a Dark Side Force user. Instead, he'll have a military background.

"I'm told that the Force won’t be with Smith, who is playing some kind of military general in the film, which takes place five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker," the insider writes.

Blade star Mia Goth is also expected to play one of the movie's villains, and it wouldn't be...

Liam Neeson's 'Naked Gun' Reboot Becomes His Highest-Grossing Movie of the Decade
Image
After becoming the actor's biggest box office opening in over ten years, The Naked Gun reboot has helped Hollywood veteran Liam Neeson to another huge milestone, superbly taking the comedic baton over from the late great Leslie Nielsen. Officially, thanks to another $2.7 million domestically on the most recent Tuesday, The Naked Gun has surpassed the $32.6 million earned by 2020's Honest Thief to become the actor's highest-grossing movie of the decade so far.

So far, from just six days in theaters, The Naked Gun has earned an impressive $32.9 million, split between a domestic haul of $21.4 million and a further $11.4 million from overseas markets. Neeson's recent filmography doesn't boast much financial success, with the likes of 2024's Absolution, 2023's In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and Marlowe from the same year all struggling to even hit $10 million worldwide. In fact, the last time Neeson saw huge blockbuster success was as part...

Netflix has dropped an all-new trailer for The Thursday Murder Club, which features Brosnan, Mirren, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imri putting their detective hats on to solve cold-case murders. However, when someone dies at their doorstep, it is up to their mystery-solving club to investigate the possible murder. Brosnan plays an ex-union activist named Ron Ritchie, who, in the book, is a farcry from the generally suave roles played by the former James Bond actor.
