Excellent movie who want to see "Arjun" in 2 hours.

I have seen other animation movies made on Indian epics. But this seems to be the best of all. Excellent Animation, Direction, Story, Sound track, everything. The songs and dialogs of the movie are excellent. The climax I thought could have been better as they build up nicely but did not led to expectations. This movie definitely seems to take the Indian animation movie to the next level and I have also known the way they made this movie that is the main reason I liked it and I gave 8/10.

However, the movie sure differentiate a lot from the actual epic and must not be watched for knowledge purpose or to know Mahabharata. There are many mistakes in the movie and story line as well, which, If I start explaining, may take a lot of my time.

Those who want to watch this, for entertainment purpose, for making their children aware about some hero in Indian history, for those who like animation and sound effects, for those who live abroad and want to see or show a glance of Indian ancient story to their family members, and for few others this is an excellent attempt by Arnab Chaudhuri.

Those who knows Mahabharata, those who want to know Mahabharata, those who like more realistic and factual storyline, you all must no rely on this movie as this is purely a animation movie.

Overall a pretty good attempt.

I like animated movies (and series too for that matter). Have been following the great works from American animation studios like Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks etc, and then all those Japanese studios cranking out stylish animes, I know our Indian animation industry has a lot of ground to cover.

That being said, animation in this movie impressed me. You simply cannot deny the detailed backgrounds and environments that were presented in this movie. They even put in cattle grazing on the fields which disperse when our Pandavas rush in on their horses. That scene made me laugh as well as awe in the thought they put in creating it. The lush forests, the architecture, I was exclaiming at every new environments introduced.

Story-wise, well it could have been better, but again this was a movie and moreover on Arjun and not the whole Mahabharata, so I guess I am OK with the creative liberties taken. The fights, I was very delighted at the use of Kalaripayattu in their choreography, all was great except the one where Arjun went all Bruce Lee.

Well enough said. Enjoy this movie!

The Disney house offers us this unusual film whose target audience is in India. We have the story of Arjuna, the main prince in the Bhagavad Gita and one of the most important figures among the Lord's associates. This film emphasizes the figure of Arjuna, leaving aside valuable elements (such as his cousin Krishna who barely appears). Despite this, the story is faithful and entertaining, consolidating the stories of the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavatam as worthy of being taken to celluloid. For those who want to know more about the great figures of the immense Vedic spiritual tradition, this film is worth seeing.

for animation who represent a proof of courage face to Japanese industry. for story - subtle lesson of moral, Indian civilization and brilliance of virtues. for music. and for the good taste of childhood , in case of adults, seductive adventures for children. the mixture between drawing and real places, the circle of story in story, the easy identification with Yuvraj, the crumbs of memories from Pocahontas, the scene of fights and, sure, the details, makes it charming. it is not perfect and many observations may be realized. but only by quarreling . the film is beautiful and may become classic. old recipes and correct work. and flavor of a slice from past in a subtle form of national propaganda.

Need better animation. This animation sucks to the maximum level. Even the storyline wasn't that great. How the story was framed was also poor to grab one's attention. It is very easy to get bored with this film. The concept however good is of no value when execution is not done well. Plus the suspense was not all that great, at one point it was evident and could be easy guessed. Surprise level was at the minimum. The best thing about the movie were its characters. They were drawn well and their expressions were apt. Songs were nice too. Just too much dramatic for a animated movie according to my taste.

1. As an animation film....fabulous. Haven't seen anything of this level earlier from India . will truly put it on the international animation level . Reminded me of some of the classic animation films from the west. even though it was not like those giant expensive 3d films, in fact that is what made it refreshing. just the classic style and beautiful details. 2. As a story, loved it. while it spoke of something we are all so familiar with in India, it still managed to keep us glued and wait for whats next. Hats off for taking a known story and yet making it so interesting. Waiting for a sequel 3. After ages, some sensible , clean cinema...with no sleazy dances and loud abusive language. I didn't have to cringe while watching it with the family 4. Was so good to see that people are still trying to make clean beautiful looking films 5. And most importantly all age groups seem to have enjoyed it thoroughly!

I loved the movie!! No doubt it deviates quite a lot from the epic, but I being in the animation industry, can clearly understand the animations are not ordinary, as pointed out by many. People who have absolutely no knowledge about animation, can please stay away from writing negative feedback for the movie.

It was 3D in 2D animation, where the movie is released in 2D, but the background and contrast characters have a 3D feeling!! People who haven't noticed this will have a good time noticing it.

If there's a sequel then I will surely look forward to this movie. But yeah, people who do not like darker themes in the movie, wherein the hero suffers but then rises, may stay away!! Because this is not exactly pertaining to the epic, but it's surely shown in a good way.!!

One word Excellent.......I have watched many Indian animations but after Ramayan the legend of price Ram, Arjun is the only animated movie I really loved.

The Animation is just out of this world and it can compete with any other animation movies of the world.

Not only animation but the story telling was also very cool, I think it the best way to tell this story and its not lengthy at all, movie is just 2 hrs long I think, which is cool, I think children as well as Adults will enjoy it,and best part is everyone will take away something from it.

The movie is really nice, the way they told the story is also very nice. But sometimes the movie is pulled back by lack of experience in the crew. Being an Indian animated movie, we can ignore that. The movie has many plot points missing from the actual Mahabharata, Movie assumes you know that plot points. But they should have told those as it feels incomplete. The movie is about 90 minutes long. So they had time to cover all the missing points and increasing the movie length by 10-20 minutes. But I didn't understand why they chose to avoid some important parts. Nevertheless, voice artists have done fantastic jobs and animators also put effort to make it look beautiful. Dialogues are also well crafted.

I read a book about Mahabharata days ago and I didn't remember it perfectly but I remembered some points and they were changed in this movie. Which confused me. So those who haven't read Mahabharata in detail might get good first-hand experience, but if you have read any other version, the movie might confuse you and take your attention away from the main plot. I am not against the changes they made to make it reach from book to video form, they need to adjust some parts, but the movie is very less explained so it disturbs you as you try to feel the Mahabharata you know in the places where the movie isn't focused which create confusion.

There are many versions of Mahabharata which has very little change in them. I don't know which version is followed in this movie but in India, in different states, we read and hear different versions. So if you are making a movie for the Indian audience, you need to tell everything in detail as people will find it confusing if something is missing in the movie but a plot point related to that is used somewhere at a later point.

And that's the only complaint oi have. Nevertheless, you can watch the movie if you are an Indian mythology fan.

remarkable animation. seductive story. portrait of an old fashion hero. discover of India in beautiful manner. a film who impress for beauty and for the courage to propose a simple and convincing pledge for basic tradition values. and this is the axis of the adventure of Arjun to define to himself not exactly as warrior but as himself. the poetry of images, the ethic virtues who defines a man, against different challenges are the pillars of an impeccable construction. a film for entire family. and good support for read Mahabharata for discover, behind artistic innovations, the real story of a magnificent character.

Disney has animated films from all over the world, but they don't yet have one from India/South Asia. But Disney does have a co-production credit on this adaptation of the Mahabharata.

I have some basic familiarity with the epic and the movie hits the basic beats of the epic. Although there were some stuff that I didn't recognize either because I've forgotten, or because the movie deviated.

I think the movie tried to make the characters interesting... but at the end of the day Duryodhan was a mustache-twirling villain and the Pandavas were pretty one-dimensional. They tried to give Arjun an arc about learning to be warrior or something, an arc he shared with the, uh, framing device; but it didn't really work. But I did think they made Draupadi a little more interesting compared to the epic. She was just as minor here as in the epic, but I basically remembered her as a helpless woman who just did what other people told her to do. It's not as if she was any less powerless in this movie version, but after that dice game went down, she was pissed and I'm glad the filmmakers gave her at least this little bit of character. She dealt with it very maturely, but she demanded justice and wasn't going to let it go. (I'm not saying she was an empowered character; I'm saying the filmmakers gave her as much character as they possibly could without changing her story. The same cannot be said for the rest of the Pandavas. Oh and they glossed over the whole, uh, "sharing arrangement". Because Disney? But then again they showed a ton of blood.)

The animation was honestly not that great. But I say that because I'm used to watching animation from Disney and Pixar. The animation was actually really good given how young the animation industry is in India - and I'm sure Disney didn't invest too much in this department.

The biggest problem with the movie is that it just kind of ended abruptly with no conclusion. It left us with two lines about the big battle that was coming up, and not even the outcome of the battle. It's almost like they got sick of telling the story and ended with "And then they went to battle, the end."

There were a couple of reasons that prompted me to venture for Arjun-The Warrior Prince. First significant reason was the trailer of the film, unveiled 4 years back, and which was spectacular. It was a time when there was an overdose of shoddy animated films, all based on mythical tales. But Arjun-The Warrior Prince stood out, because of its treatment, as evident from the promo. Secondly, my knowledge about Mahabharata has been extremely limited (never read the texts and was not born when B R Chopra's version was aired on TV). Just like I got my needed gyaan of Ramayana from the successful animated Ramayana – The Legend Of Prince Rama, I expected Arjun-The Warrior Prince to do the needful! Almost 100 minutes long, Arjun-The Warrior Prince has its flaws but at the same time has some dramatic moments that make for a great viewing! The story of the movie: The Pandavas have a bad time as they are compelled to co-exist with their cousins, the Kauravas in Hastinapur. Arjun, from the Pandavas, turns out to be a good archer but despises violence and is unsure if he's capable of being a leader. However, circumstances, perseverance, efficient training and words of his guru Dronacharya all lead to Arjun discovering the warrior in himself as he takes on an entire army single-handedly.

Arjun-The Warrior Prince doesn't throw light on the great war of Kurukshetra. Nor does it show the humiliating vastraharana of Draupadi. The film, as the title suggests, is about Arjun and how he establishes himself as a firm warrior. The beginning portions were disinteresting but film gets damn interesting once the characters are firmly established. The swayamvar sequence, which was shown in the trailer as well, was one of the finest scenes in the film. The animation is 2D, unlike the 3D animation that is in vogue nowadays. Yet, it works well and after Hanuman, this is easily the second best mythological film of Bollywood! Director Arnab Chaudhuri has incorporated various panning and zoom-in shots that were like an icing on the cake in the film. Several scenes of the river and snow-capped peaks seemed straight out of life! The songs and background score too created the right impact. Besides, there's a parallel story going on as well which boasts of an excellent twist towards the finale. The climax was slightly rushed but nevertheless works well! Talking of flaws, the film has an erratic pacing at several places. The scenes of Lord Krishna could have been better. Although it's an animated film, there's not much humour in the film. In fact, the whole film has an undercurrent of tension going on. Also, the shuddh Hindi might be difficult to comprehend for kids who are the target audience of the film.

The voice-over artists do a great job with the characters not sounding too childish or mature. The animation guys sketched the characters aptly, especially in case of Pandavas and Duryodhan – each one of them looked distinct. Shakuni Mama and his pony were easily the best ones! The music of the film is given by Vishal-Shekhar and has some very peppy foot-tapping numbers (Daanav and Karm Ki Talwar were the best). Even the background score was terrific and escalated the impact in many scenes. Arnab Chaudhuri's direction had its flaws but was neat overall. Mahabharata is long and complex and to narrate a significant portion from the epic in 100 minutes is a feat after all! On the whole, Arjun-The Warrior Prince is a rare animated mythological film from Bollywood that is well-made and boasts of an animation that's surely worth appreciating! Take your kids and they'll surely enjoy the tale of this mighty prince! The film faced plenty of films before it could get a release. Also UTV team could have generated a little more excitement about the film (although thankfully the awareness for the film was there pre-release). Fortunately, the film has done well in the weekend and should be able to recover costs. First Chhota Bheem and now Arjun-The Warrior Prince, animated Bollywood films are finally finding success at the box office!

I am very pleased with the movie. I went to watch this movie with my friends and family, the audience ranged from 7 year old to 60 year old. I have been watching animation movies from long time and have a knowledge about a 3d and 2d movie. Arjun the warrior Prince is par Excellence and the work by Walt Disney is indeed applauded. The story is not about the war of Mahabharat as mistaken by masses. Its the story about a war hero Arjun and how he reached to the peak in making history. It's the story about the journey and falling and rising back of Arjun. The graphics of this movie has broken all the records of previous movies and has set a threshold for future movies. Animators in India make movies from flash, and believe they make excellent Animation cinema, watch Arjun and you will understand what animation is all about.

It's really unfortunate to know that this excellent work was a failure at Box Office, mainly due to Universal Studio and Walt Disney have problem in the production house.

Not many theatres in India had it's screening and not much publicity was made.

For all those who have not seen this class Movie, will urge them to watch it and then make your opinion. Also remember this story has nothing to do with the Mahabharat war, but it is a prelude to the war.

I liked the animation and the visuals in a few places especially the design of the palaces, drupads place was really amazing where the marriage of arjun and draupadi takes place, indraprastha was designed amazingly. The action scenes were good. I really liked the naration idea, that was really unexpected. The songs were good.

The movie is just 1 hr 30min long which I felt is very short just to capture arjuns arc in mahabharata. The relationship between the characters were not explored properly. The only thing they wrote nicely was the student teacher relationship between arjuna and drona. They wanted to show the movie as a comming of age movie, which was a nice decision, but a lot of things were underwritten. The travel he takes upon to aquire the gandiva astra also fails to create a impact. They could have explored arjuns obsession to become the best archer in the world, His rivalry with karna, His relationship with krishna and where the hell is bhagavat gita. All these aspects were not explored.

This movie had so many possibilities, but left unexplored. They got the visuals right, but messed up in the writting. The kids might like it. But thoes who are fans of mahabharat may be disappointed.

One word.. Excellent !! Its by far the best Hindi/ Indian animated movie ever. The story, in-spite of the deviations from popular mythology keep the viewer engaged.

Dialogues are very well written. The lack of no name voice overs is actually a good thing. I wish they would take the Amar chitra katha series as inspiration and make a ton of more films like this. Its time to bring animated movies from India into the 21st century. I hope this team makes movies on other stories from the Mahabharata and gives it the same treatment.

It would be even more awesome if they would release the movie with more regional language sound tracks and international ones to introduce the rest of the world to Indian mythology

I was moved to see is because I know a bit about the Mahabarata - we saw the Indian TV version many years ago (it ran weekly, for quite a few months).

The first surprise was the intermission, after only an hour!

I don't know how involved the Disney company was in it. The character animation reminds me a bit of Disney's "Pocahontas", but the overall animation is unsurpassed. In one or two places, actual scenery is combined with the animation - but it is so well done you have to look for it.

I think someone would enjoy this movie even if he didn't know the Mahabarata - but it certainly helps. The story glosses over some important details: why is blind King Dhritarashtra's wife blindfolded? Who is this Krishna fellow? And why is Arjuna disguised as a woman?

There are at least two scenes that I remember from from the epic that are in the movie: one when Arjuna is learning archery from Bhishma [?], and sees only the eye of the bird in the tree (now we know he's going to be a great archer); the other when Yudhishthira loses his shirt in a dice game, run by the treacherous Shakuni. There may be others.

The movie is a slice of the Mahabarata: it's Arjuna's story, how he grows into a true prince despite the best (=worst) efforts of the Kuru.

Even if the story on the screen is hard to follow, the animation is superb. I have not seen better, even from Miyazaki. This is one movie I could see again.

Such a shame this movie didn't get the exposure it deserved. It's currently on NETFLIX.

They spent millions in animation (which is top notch tbh) but they failed to spend thousands to do proper research about one of the greatest epics ever written? I think that's the reason why this movie failed unlike Hanuman or Yugo Sako's version of Ramayan which were very well researched. Some points I would like to mention where they utterly disappointed the audience 1. Arjun was never unsure of his skills, he was a great warrior and to some extent was too proud of it, he was hesitant to fight in Mahabharat war because he saw his blood relatives standing against his side and he was aware of the destruction that will follow 2. Every Pandava was master in one weapon, they knew how fight with each and every weapon but they were masters of some particular weapons like Yudhishthir was an expert in fighting with a spear, while Bhim was adept in fighting with a mace as was Arjun was with his bow and arrow. The archer aspect of Arjun has been ignored, it is described that when Arjun entered the warzone with his bow Gandiv, his arrows dropped from the skies like meteor shower on his enemies. 3. Swayamvar was not shown correctly, there were all the major kings present in the ceremony all Kauravs were present, Karna was there, Jayadrath was there, Jarasandh was there, even Krishn himself was there as if you have read the original source material there were really close friends 4. Krishn was not a stranger to pandavs, they are cousins actually, Kunti is the sister of Vasudev. 5. In the movie they didn't show the divine intervention of Krishn during Draupadi's cheer haran 6. They completely messed up with time frame, Pandavs ruled over Indraprastha for a long period of time before there were maliciously deposed Shakuni's antics 7. Game of chausar was played in Hastinapur not in Indraprastha. 8. You never about Lakshagriha 9. Uttar was not so close to Vrahanalla/Arjun but Uttara was, as she was taught dance by Arjun during there agyatvas or concealment period. This movie could have been a landmark in the animated movie industry but the louzy research was one of the major reasons behind its failure.

This film is my first (and only) glimpse of animation from India. To me, it is like a mixture of rotoscope/motion-capture, flash animation, and cel-shading; but it is still awesome stuff on the screen. You know, I was quite surprised that Walt Disney Pictures had a hand in the film's distribution, with it's scenes of bloody violence.

The story is an adaptation of the epic "The Mahabharata," but it centers around Prince Arjun from his boyhood (nine years old) to manhood. I have seen a live-action TV series based on the epic called "Dharmakshetra." You know, I think I might read the "Mahabharata" myself; it it isn't too complicated that is.

So anyway, this is an animated film I really wish was on North American DVD or even Blu-ray.
