Baron Thorleif Lund is celebrating the birht of his heir when Romany king Charles Lowaas shows up, offering to play music. He's thrown out, and takes his revenge by stealing the infant boy. When a snake bites the baby, they burn his arm to remove the poison; this is reported to the child's mother, Else Weng. The gypsies get away.

Twenty years go by. Miss Weng is widowed and living with her brother-in-law Count Waldemar Wennerwolf and his daughter, Zanny Peterson. The same Romany group comes by, with the King played by Waldemar Moller, and the infant grown into Amanuel Gregers. They are given permission to camp by the lake. Miss Peterson comes by to see the funny people. On the way home, she loses the reins to her carriage, and Gregers rescues her. Fellow Rom Emilie Sannom is jealous, and makes trouble which gets the entire tribe in bad. They flee.

Barring issues like the way the Gypsies are played as malevolent children, it's certainly a competently filmed feature from 1914, with plots, rescues, and reindeer; did the film makers confuse Romany with Lapps? The continuity is clear, the compositions are decent, even if the landscape is distressingly flat throughout, and the acting is good, although there's a lot of big movement. Mollers is terrifying.
