My mom suggested that we watch this together. I found it to be surprisingly funny but not cheesy, and it had a great message!
I love the movies that Kelly's Filmworks releases. They are wholesome films that you can let your entire family see. This movie was so funny, I laughed through most of it. Jefferson Moore and Christina Karis work so well together. And the supporting cast members were just as amazing; the studio players who have been in other productions of KFW's, as well as actors that I haven't seen before. The entire ensemble cast made for a very enjoyable movie. Even the restored truck that was used for the majority of the film fit in so well with the entire theme. All that, along with the great music, made this one of the best films that I've seen. I hope that everyone takes the opportunity to watch this wonderful film, and also sees the other movies from this amazing film company.
Pieces Of Easter has high powered, highflying business executive Christina Karis
doing her best to fulfill a commitment to be with her family at Easter time. But
it's a thousand miles away and whatever can go wrong does go wrong in the
tradition of Mr. Murphy.
With not even a working cell phone Karis calls on hermit farmer Jefferson Moore and offers him $1000.00 to get her home. It takes that much of an inducement because Moore just doesn't leave his small farm unless he absolutely has to.
Most of the film's running time is spent with Moore and Karis who come from two different worlds. But the two of them kind of grow on each other.
It's a Christian not overly preachy and suitable for more than church basement audiences.

I was honored to have some songs used for this film. I had no idea how my music would be used, and/or how it would fit into the scheme of the movie...well, I was very impressed! The characters are earthy and layered, the scenery and cinematography are top-notch, and of the wonderfully restored Chevrolet pickup was a treat to see. Kristina Karis is immediately endearing, and I think she has a great future ahead of her. It was refreshing to see a movie that breaks many stereotypes, while at the same time lets us enjoy so many others! This is the kind of movie that "stays with you" and your appreciation for the film will actually grow for days after you first see it...and you WILL want to watch it more than once! Thanks, Kelly Filmworks!
This movie is now 12 years old, and it still remains relevant and funny.
Christina Marie Karis is refreshing. She and Jefferson Moore have an awesome chemistry as unwilling travel companions who are simply trying to get from point A to point B. Nothing could be more complicated, actually!
We know that the movie is going to go in a silly direction, since there's a clear humor about Lincoln (J. Moore) and his intense disdain for socializing. Alza (Karis) is brightly clueless - she has so much intelligence, but lacks self-awareness, at least for the first portion of the movie.
We see her go through a lot of disappointments, including dealing with a rat in a random motel room (hi, #1 fear). She also has a knack for seeming self-confident, but soon shows her vulnerable side.
I loved the weaving of humor (deadpan Lincoln staring at Alza while she over-talks) with the litany of everyday hiccups that - all happening at once - could make the most stoic among us turn into ugly-crying messes.
My favorite laugh-out-loud scene is when Alza spots the burglars and sneaks away from Lincoln's truck. Her 'duck walk' in high heels was so random and hysterical. Naturally, the joke is on us, because even in that awkward position, she still looks fantastic.
If you're looking for something to cheer you up, especially when you're feeling that old self-pity monster creeping up, this movie does an excellent job of resetting your mind. It helped remind me that things can always be worse, and even the most trying situation can work a miracle in our life.
I hope that Mr. Moore and his wife will continue to make more movies, or simply do what God moves them to do, for as long as possible. Our world is in crisis and longs for hope.
