Upendra

A movie that revolves around the "greed self" controlled by the balance and often clash of *human desires* vs "human responsibilities " vs "human sustenance" as expressed by three characters! A must watch movie which was released in 1999, way, way ,way ahead of it's time! Relevant till date!!... Would rate it more than 10 if the Rating alowed me to do so!

Its been close to 14 years i watched this movie, boy let me tell you till date i consider this as my favorite movie not only in Kannada. I cannot praise Upendra for giving such an extra ordinary movie to Kannada Audience. I wish i can see something like this in my life again.

I feel the movie was way ahead of time, it was pure vision from Uppi sir. i like every scene from the movie, few highlights of the movie were title song and the climax scene,its amazing the way he has ended the climax. could not think of any better ending for the epic movie like Upendra.

This movie was released 20 years ago and even now when you watch it it doesn't feel outdated. It was way ahead of its time. Upendra is a master class when it comes conveying a philosophy while keeping the audience entertained through out the movie. Non linear timelines, different perceptive, breaking the 4th wall makes the movie cult classic. I have never scene a movie in which the protagonist is introduced in the story. This movie has inspired lot of people to become filmmakers..

Sheer brilliance .This movie is still so fresh and engrossing. Movie brings out the double standards followed by humans . It is a philosophical movie told in a exciting , unusual and unbelievable way by Upendra. Movie Opening Scene, title song and climax are extraordinary.

Movie brings out the selfishness and egoistic attitude of the human beings to the core with a extraordinary climax which is open ended. It raises questions on the hypocrite society with 'Nanu' Character.

Upendra as a director has proved once again he is way ahead of the time to give a extraordinary movie. Waiting for its sequel Uppi 2 .

This is my all time favourite movie!

My way of perceiving the world totally changed after watching it.

I have watched it innumerable times, yet find something new to learn every time I watch. Upendra questions our human culture as a whole! He points out the hypocrisy in all of us! By keeping three women as his main characters(Happiness, responsibilities and wealth) in the movie, he shows how obsessions make one's life chaotic. In the climax he beautifully explains how the I and MINE mindset in a person directly have an influence on his happiness and sadness.

For anybody watching it the first time - You need to watch it at least twice to be able to make out what the movie really says!!

Hats off to Uppi sir for his efforts!
