    All hail necrostorm

This company has put out some of the best indie horror films in years. Tater city waa amazing scifi horror with tons of bizzare scenes also lots of blood. Story well done and rhe acting qas on point all in all a 7 in my book. A mist aee dor any true horror of scifi fan. Again not for the squeamish.

Very gory but not much story.

In Taeter City, a futuristic civilisation ruled by a totalitarian regime known as 'The Authority', potentially violent criminals are identified by the Zeed system, which analyses the brain structure and converts killer instinct into suicidal impulses. Once dead, the criminal's body is collected and turned into fast food for the masses. However, the Zeed system is not perfect, mutating one such violent outlaw, Trevor Covalsky (director Giulio De Santi), and making him even more aggressive in the process. Authority bikers Razor, Shock and W**k (Monica Muñoz, Santiago Ortaez and Wilmar Zimosa) are given the task of trying to stop him.

Supernatural revenge flick Adam Chaplin, the debut film from Italian production company Necrostorm, blew me away with its cool narrative, over-the-top characters, ultra-violent comic book style and amazingly realistic gore effects (provided by this film's star and director De Santi). Taeter City, the company's ambitious follow up, employs a similarly excessive approach, but fails to impress as much, the story not as sharp and the characters less defined, with the regular and rather repetitive Verhoeven-style commercial breaks rapidly becoming tiresome. An overuse of flickery editing effects and digital colour-grading also proves irritating.

Thankfully, De Santi's incredibly bloody effects are just as impressive as before, and gore-hounds will undoubtedly get a huge kick from the sheer quantity and quality of the carnage on display: limbs are torn, heads are crushed, eyeballs are popped, guts are wrenched, hands are mangled and bodies are sliced, all of which is flawlessly executed (some of the effects are uncomfortably realistic). Hardly a minute goes by without some poor schmuck having something truly revolting happen to them. Movies rarely get more violent.

6/10—jaw dropping splatter, but the weak narrative lets it down a bit.

Taeter City truly delivers on its promise

80's VIBE: The saturated colors create a dream-like atmosphere and the sci-fi technology is cheesy yet imaginative. Interspersed throughout the narrative are comical commercials for Taeter Burger and messages from Caronte, the head of The Authority, which is an interesting attempt at showing the omnipresence of the dictatorship. The acting is nothing spectacular and the voice acting is simplistic but some voices are bad ass (Caronte. Shock, Razor) All those aspects and the soundtrack, truly bring you back to memories like: Escape from New York, Class 1999, Blade Runner and Terminator.

VIOLENCE AND ACTION: The true star of this film are the action and the special effects. This movie is literally an Exxon-Valdez of red, with just enough story to keep things moving forward until you get to the next massive gore set-piece. People dismembered, heads crushed, appendages removed, and bodies exploded. Did I mention there was a lot of blood? While the film does contain CG, it more than makes up for it with the use of practical effects—often at the same time. There is no use of CG for simple headshots here (*cough*TheWalkingDead*cough*) but rather it's used where practical effects would either be too difficult or not provide an adequate level of insane violence. As soon as you hit play, prepare yourself for a non-stop barrage of gore and violence on a level you've never seen before. This movie is a must see for any gorehound. Taeter City truly delivers on its promise of "'80s vibe, sci-fi, action, violence, blood and again blood." Did I mention there was a lot of blood?

Something Wicked-er's Overview of Taeter City 2012💀

Italian splatter kings Necrostorm scored a cult hit with their first film Adam Chaplin (2011) a combination of Manga / Anime classic Fist of the North Star, The Crow and Das Komabrutale Duell. This their second feature Taeter City has a similar extreme splatter style but this time goes the way of the retro Sci-fi Horror sub-genre. Set in the future the world is controlled by a Governmental dictatorship known simply as "The Authority" who regularly remind the populace through public announcements "Respect the Authority and Laws and you'll be just fine". Crime rate is nonexistent in Taeter City thanks to radio waves named the Zeed System that targets would be criminals and cause them to kill themselves in very nasty ways they then are processed at mega slaughter houses and have their flesh turned into food and blood into energy drinks which are then sold to law abiding citizens in Authority ran McDonald-esq restaurants know as Taeter Burger. Eating and farming animals is totally outlawed punishable by... Well you get it!

Everything is going peacefully in Taeter City until the radio waves have an abstract reaction on one fellow played by Director, FX guy and head of Necrostorm the awesome looking Giulio De Santi, instead of Suicidal he becomes Homicidal, develops super strength and can admit rays from his mouth that turns others into Homicidal/suicidal Super killers. When a scientist explains this he adds "Don't ask me why, it's Fu*king nonsense, it's all Fu*king Nonsense" Yes Doc it most certainly is but all the better for it.

This film doesn't really play for laughs it is presented very seriously and is all the more hilarious and fun because of this. This film promises "An 80's Movies Vibe, insane technology, Manga style crazy action, Adrenaline, Violence, Blood, Blood and again Blood" and boy it delivers on all those fronts. Delivering some of the most brutal creative Splatter action ever caught on film it has to be seen to be believed these effects are achieved by combining Practical with CGI which works a treat. Gore lovers will squeal with delight at the many graphic head crushings and Chainsaw dismemberments! 👻

2 Stars for some of the gore effects

In short: This is a gorefest, under some psychotic rambling to set the mood there is a story that with some help could suit a Judge Dredd movie (it's basically; what if Soylent green was commonly accepted and pushed by the market mixed with Judge Dredd). The saving grace of this movie is what also can make it hard to watch at points (atleast if you have seen real gore from real life or experienced it) the gore and those effects. It's a mix between Evil Dead and top notch effects that are hard to distinguish from real life injuries (and in that perspective I hope i haven't watched a movie sneaking in pieces from snuff films).

So in conclusion: I would not recommend anyone to watch movies like these before theyve passed 18 years of age, or even then. It'll stay with you in the subconscious for a bit and that is the disturbing thing, not the movie of itself. -This is not great cinema, there is however a story, but the thing that can draw you to watch this is the effects (especially as they are on a budget), that goes from aced to classical Evil Dead.
