Scotland Yard Confidential

All good things must come to an end, as the saying goes. Scotland Yard Confidential is one of those good things.

Since listening to the first episode last year, I have been enthralled with and tuned in every week to this magnificently hooking podcast.

As a lover of true crime and anything English/British, Scotland Yard Confidential was a perfect combination and a dream come true set up for me as a listener.

I loved learning about the great detectives, vigilant squads, clever criminals, and the stories behind every one of the cases. After hearing the cases come to life through the spot-on narration by John Hopkins, I wanted to learn more, so I spent the gap time between episodes researching and digging up all I could find on the people, and places of these cases, thereby gaining an abundance of knowledge about one of the most infamous crime-solving establishments in history.

I will miss tuning in every Thursday; it is a bittersweet end.

Thank you to all involved and everybody at Spotify and Noiser who made Scotland Yard Confidential possible. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to the beautiful production you all have created.

I discovered it right towards the end of the show's run. This show is an instant classic - simply a cut above. From script, production, to delivery.

What makes the show so great is that it dispenses with the usual "cutesiness" that can surround podcasts - none of the noise of useless talking about non-relevancies to pad the episode, no trying to "inform" or "update" when we just want to hear the story. None of that. Just atmosphere, great sound design, and a narrator you gotta hear to believe.

The researchers can take 100% of the credit, the writers 100%, and the spectacular John Hopkins gets the other 100%. That's 300% fantastic. That's how good this show was.
