The film captures the healing and community that a carefully prepared, openly shared meal makes possible. The director focused on the open hearts and camaraderie among the chefs, and in doing so captured the passion for food they share with the Japanese people. Beautiful interaction between the chefs and the guests. I would have liked to see some of the Japanese prep cooks point of view. The soundtrack is incredible! Catch the credit list and you'll discover some amazing, obscure bands that are great. A very moving and ultimately hopeful story about people from different cultures (Japanese, French, Indian, American) and walks of life bonding over their shared passion - food and the nourishment, physical, emotional, spiritual that it provides. I am glad that people are still interested in the rebuilding of Northeast Japan.
