Tommies

This piece is altogether different from any other short film I have the privilege to see. Just stunning!! Firstly the use of the birds, visual effects and sound in general really, was amazing. There is such a tension using almost the same vessel for tension as shiva baby. The piece considers who is affected by homophobia and the social barriers present for women. Its a piece about humans and humanity as well as queer lives. I loved the greys with which all the characters, bar Mrs Willis, are painted in. I loved the setting the story and the powerful nature of the 15 minutes you watch of their lives. A snapshot and a pleasure.

I do not know the story inspiring this short film. But I loved the construction of a world who seems, grace literature, so familiar, pretty innofensive, amusing, eccentric.

In this case , it is...cold.

Maybe too cold , the gossip of few ladies in expectation of carriage offering not only the precise image of cruelty, selfishness and pleasure to humiliate the other but the realistic invasion of the others life in bad, cruel, pretty sadistic manner.

Sure, different perspective about beginning of XIX century in British Empire . But inspired portrait of homophobia, social stigma and the unmercy power of women. Maybe, just a warning.
