As brother of a darker color, I'm glad that it's not just another slave movie or, another rise from struggle movie and or just the stereotypical movie that's suppose to appeal to me. I've seen em all and I'm all over those movies.
This movie wasn't really for me either. But I watched it. Didn't help me or improve my life in any way. But I appreciate the fact that something different was presented. It's too vulgar and way too out of touch for me and I couldn't sit down and watch this with my preteen son. I know he probably speak like a lot of the kids in this video when I'm not around, but if I ever found out, It would be a problem. I couldn't promote the behavior, disrespect and language that a lot those kids displayed. It definitely screams FATHERLESS. Also grownups carrying on as they did is insane. Speaking and acting like that in the presence of those kids, right on. It definitely screams FATHERLESS.
You do what you will with your kids and I'll do the same with mine. That's exactly why this movie is reminding that I'm getting old.

The Underdoggs is a unfunny generic comedy starring Snoop Dogg as a Pop Warner head football coach. The movie has a paperthin predictable story that is not really funny even though it's categorized as a comedy. I'm very curious to know why Amazon Prime decided to pick this movie up. This movie really seems like a straight to dvd movie. Mike Epps who also co-stars in this one provides some much needed comedy and jokes with being only the bright spot to the film. The football scenes in this are pretty standard and nothing to get excited about. Even the football scenes in the Little Giants was more exciting then this. Even though the movie's premise might make you think this is a family friendly movie it's far from it as it's rated R because bad language is thrown in every scene every 2 minutes. The Underdoggs gets a very weak 4 stars out of 10 from me.
What is with all the foul language coming from the kid characters in this movie? They're also making a lot of sexual/genital references.
The movie itself is not too terrible, but the dialogue coming from such young kids is a bit much. I understand that this is how a lot of kids talk nowadays, but the foul language should have been toned down a bit. I dont think there's a single scene in the this movie that doesnt have curse words. Dont get me wrong, I dont find foul language offensive per se, it's just a little off-putting when there's SO MUCH coming from these little kid characters. Constant cursing all throughout this film and I think this is a very lazy writing style.
Compare the writing, especially the dialogue, with the 90's movie "Little Giants" (an actual kids movie which is very similar) and you'll get an idea of why I give this movie 5 stars. I'm assuming The Underdoggs was made for adults because I personally would not allow any small children to watch this movie. I dont understand why the writers would write a movie that's ABOUT little kids, but is not FOR little kids.

It's Mighty Ducks as told by Snoop Dogg... brought to you by Raisin Canes. It never once claimed to be a kids movie. I see people literally stating they got offended and didn't make it past the opening credits. This movie wasn't made for you. In fact, you should just listen to the song they walk out to at halftime during the last game, because it's talking about you: "Little B-A-P-A-B's"
The message and theme of the story is actually pretty straightforward and heartfelt. Once his character gets through the first act of being a washed up, selfish primadonna, our hero goes through a clear - albeit predictable - character arc. Some of the humor is actually pretty self-aware and dare I say - funny... They weren't going for an Oscar here. It's just a 90 minute junk food movie with a decent message shrouded behind adult language and humor. If you don't like it, whatever. But anyone giving it a 1/10 simply because it lives up to what it promises within the first 2 seconds of pressing play is a total B-A-P-A-B.

If you liked the movie "Hardball" with Keanu Reeves, you will like this. If you also like Snoop Dogg, bonus points.
Yes, there's a lot of swearing, but what do you expect from one of his movies?
There's even a kick-ass disclaimer at the very beginning about the language 😂
Overall enjoyable, funny, great sports/celeb cameos, and as far as "remakes"/recycled ideas go, this one was done well (I'm not coming for Snoop or anyone involved in the film but let's face it, there's nothing totally original in Hollywood anymore, every flick has at least one reused idea/plot/character-forming "twist")
So spark a blunt or pass the bowl, sit back, and enjoy!

- CuriosidadesSnoop and Tikka Sumpter appeared together on the soap opera One Life to Live. Tikka was a regular on the show when she was a teenager, and Snoop appeared as himself. His mom was a fan of the show.
