The second episode sees Judge Abby Stone wanting Dan Fielding to embrace his role as a public defender.
She wants Dan to become more of a people person and relate to his clients more. Dan meanwhile pays $50 to Donna as she manages to relate more to the courtroom attendees.
Olivia Moore wants to replace the court stenographer Maggie as she has become over friendly with Olivia. Maggie wanted to go on a girl trip with Olivia.
Judge Abby Stone also wants the Night Court to be more homely. She gives out water bottles as gifts, has a mural painted and wants to get rid off the birds that have nested on the roof.
The local maintenance guys feed the birds as it is too costly to get rid off them.
It is a slight improvement over the pilot, which frankly was rubbish. It wants to do what the original series did by having wacky characters as the accused. Although the guy who thought the world is full of lizards is meant to be satire!

I said in my review of the pilot that I would keep the review for that one and this episode short. The reason being that I reviewed these first two episodes after they originally aired back to back on Night Court's main page.
The second episode starts wonderfully with a corny sense of humor in the courtroom, retaining that certain charm that you expect. 5 minutes in, the episode is killed by Melissa Rauch herself in the vanity project in which the episode becomes. The whole episode is halted to make way for Abby's personal drama. Oh, well, better luck next week. Next up will be Episode 3 Just Tuesday, where we will look deeper into what works and doesn't work at this point in the series. Stay Tuned!

More pleading, More yelling, The big lady cop showing off her routine (she is the one element of humor here and even that is tenuous). More efforts to get Laroquette to join the madness. A tug at his heart works, of course. He has to eventually join the show. We get more into animus some feel for being in this setting. We also are introduced to the pigeons who live in the ceiling, a running joke that isn't all that funny. So now that the pieces are in place, will the show take off? The judge continues to be this wimpy indecisive pleaser. The court itself is just plain ludicrous. I know the original was too--but it had a different cast.

- Erros de gravaçãoAt the end of the first case, the prosecutor, Olivia, walks back to her desk and sits down. Dan Fielding says "... the key-thing was pretty good, especially the second time." The camera immediately focuses on the bailiff dropping her keys again, and the prosecutor can be seen standing in front of her.
