- Shane Lucas, an ex-Yakuza member and elite martial artist, is hunted down at his local dojo in Los Angeles in 1985 by his longtime rival, Elias Da Rosa, and his crew members from the same crime family. Shane is threatened to either return to the Yakuza or suffer the consequences.
- In 1985 Los Angeles, Shane Lucas, son of Alfonso Lucas, inherits his father's dojo after leaving behind his violent past as a Yakuza enforcer. Alfonso was more than a parent - he was Shane's sensei since childhood, instilling in him discipline, spirit, and the philosophy of martial arts. Though Alfonso is gone, his spirit endures within the dojo - moving through space and time as a watchful guide whose voice and calm strength remain with Shane. To Shane, it is as if his father still walks beside him, his guidance woven into every breath and movement. Though Shane now leads the dojo and his teachings with honor, he is haunted by the shadow of his former life and the fear that it may return.
The film begins with Shane training alongside Yomi, his childhood friend and lifelong sparring partner. Their session is more than physical; it is Shane's way of preparing himself mentally and spiritually, pushing past doubt in anticipation of threats he knows will come. As the training ends, the ticking of the clock signals the start of his meditation.
In his meditative vision, Elias Da Rosa, Shane's bitter rival from the Yakuza, arrives with his crew. They confront Shane, demanding he return to the syndicate. Violence erupts inside the dojo as Shane defends himself against Elias's men, fighting not just for survival, but for his new life and the freedom he has chosen. One by one, he overcomes the crew, but Elias proves far more dangerous. Their duel is brutal and unrelenting, with Shane nearly defeated. At his lowest point, Alfonso's voice echoes in his mind - calm, steady, reminding him to breathe, center himself, and draw strength from within. Guided by this eternal presence, Shane finds clarity and the will to push forward, finally overcoming Elias in the vision.
Suddenly, an alarm clock rings, breaking the meditation. Shane opens his eyes, shuts off the alarm, and steadies his breath. Moments later, Elias and his crew arrive at the dojo for real - just as in his vision. But this time Shane is different. Grounded by his training, strengthened by meditation, and guided by the enduring presence of Alfonso, he rises with calm confidence. Ready at last, Shane prepares to defend not only himself, but the life and spirit that connect him eternally to his father and sensei.
