Becoming Witch

This entertaining series is surprising and funny. Never predictable it's a wild ride with laugh out loud scenes laced with black comedy and satire. Sometimes things seem to be getting out of control but they always get back on track in a logical manner so the story remains plausible and realistic. That is quite an impressive achievement. It's a feel good female buddy movie dealing with their disappointing husbands.

The 3 watchable and lovely leads get to give great performances showcasing such a wide range of emotions. First there is the pretty Lee Yoo Ri and her cheating TV anchor husband. She displays great comic skill and farcical physical comedy. Look out for some famous Hollywood divorce movies. Then there is the terrific and beautiful actress Lee Min Young of Love Marriage Divorce fame who deals with a sick mother in law and fertility issues. Quite a sensitive performance. Finally Yoon So Yi gives a funny performance as the pretty one who is enjoying the life insurance of her dead deadbeat husband.

This show isn't about real witches and it is actually a wise and funny series that leads to a poignant well written ending. This show gets better and better as you watch it.

I was expecting something with a full on supernatural aspect yet modern take from the look of the cover. It wasn't that, but it does have a bit of supernatural element to it as the story progresses but different from what one expects. I would say this is a must watch!! I really enjoyed the show as a whole and the three main women characters drew you in. This was my first K-drama so for me the subtitles went pretty quick, I had to rewind a lot at first. I think some things got lost in translation, but watching the characters actions and faces really helped to get the story. It was captivating and kept me hooked to see how things played out for each characters lives. I really can't do it justice in how great the show and it's actresses and actors are. I'm from a different culture so a few things were surprising and interesting to learn about. It was still very much relatable it multiple ways for me and I loved how you go through all the emotions with the story and even get a bit of surprises from the characters too. It was like a book you can't put down, it was a truly great show to watch!

This turned out to be a lot of fun. Don't be so hung up on the details and the ridiculousness, after all it's a mix of black comedy and satire, and it did a good job in that regard. It showed a lot of interesting ideas but one thing irked me was its lack of commitment to some themes, sometimes it kept it tame and didn't go all the way through. Although the trio had a great dynamic but Chae Hee Soo always ended up being the third wheel in the relationship and in the allocated screen time which is unfortunate because there was a lot of room to get her more involved. Right at the very beginning the drama tell us that one of them will die but it was a bit obvious who. That small section involving the departure and grief at the end was a bit too brief, I wish the drama gave it more focus because it fit the theme just right. One more thing, it was a bit long and some elements got stale.
